Hi there!
I would definitely try an electrolyte replacement as this is what I did for the first TWO weeks of yoga.
Go to your local pharmacy and find something called Gastrolyte -- you can mix it with water: just ask the pharmacist about it if you can't find it. When I used it, I added a pack of sugar-free koolaid to it to make it taste better. I used this mix religiously for the first 2 weeks of class because I was worried about my electrolyte levels.
Don't think of it as a chemical soup, because it really is a medication that one uses in case of GI upsets or illness or excess sweating. If you had a child with GI upsets, you would give him or her an electrolyte solution such as Pedialyte. Marathon runners use electrolyte replacements so that they can go the distance. The reason for using the solution rather than whole foods is because the replacement electrolytes are measured and available immediately for your body as opposed to contained in food, which is imprecise and requires time to digest.
Seriously, give the electrolyte solution a go, watch the coffee, and give it another shot. After your class, have a banana and yogort, too, as these are easily digested and will help you recover from the class. And you may try getting to class really early -- I get there 30 minutes ahead of time so I can acclimatize to the room and start sweating. You can do it!!!
