Oh my god. This I did not even consider. I call all of my apples 80 calories and all of my bananas 100 cals. Of course I knew some are more calories than that but I figured it was fine because I mostly eat small apples and I call my bananas 100 whether they are tiny or huge. I do that

Is there an emoticon for a string of curse words? UGH. I need a kitchen scale. I have been thinking about it but since I wasn't planning to get one any time soon because I just bought hand and ankle weights ... after buying the exercise bike in March. I recently vowed to put purchases on moratorium.

To your point, the heaping tbs of chopped nuts I was putting in my oatmeal is 70 cal, not 30 like I estimated, and the raisins were 68 cal, not 35. But I've found a few areas where I was overestimating, too. I'm loving having the scale.

Consider buying one from eBay, I saw a real deal there for a slightly used one... I just didn't have the patience to wait.

Where as I found out just the opposite on bananas. The little bananas I've been getting are 60 calories instead of the 100! At least I'm assuming you weigh them without the peel. I just put my cereal on the scale and hit tare and then sliced it right into the bowl.

This is the one that I bought : http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/prod...947047&RN=1151

It's the "Biggest Loser" scale and I got it at Bed, Bath and Beyond at the suggestion of another poster here. It sounds like you found one that is perfect for your needs....it's kinda fun to weigh stuff on it, huh!

I try to overestimate since I don't have a scale right now, but I'm sure I often underestimate too. I hope I can get one this summer when I go home from college; I really think it'll help me along.

A couple of months back I had decided to buy a scale and asked about it here. Someone posted a very good article about why it is is important to find a scale that measures in grams--because of the accuracy.

I never did buy a scale. I use my measuring cups and spoons and count my nuts.

I LOVE my scale.

(ok sometimes when I see how small an actual "serving" of something that is less than a good choice actually is, maybe i don't love it just then, but generally it is great)!
