You definitely need protein - especially if you are lifting weights. I count calories - but I also track percentage of calories from Carbs/protein/fat. Well...

Maybe try tracking what you eat for a few days to get a baseline? Fruits and vegetables are great - but you also need lean proteins like chicken (breast meat is the lowest fat), turkey, eggs (especially the whites), cottage cheese, ground beef (check the fat content - I aim for 7% fat or less)....I also like string cheese, peanut butter (watch your portion sizes). You need protein to build muscle...you saw before what happens when you lose weight but don't build muscle.

You end up smaller but still flabby.
