I also love Phantom but my all time favourite is Sound of Music. Going to London next month and already have tickets for Wicked and Grease and might add Wizard of Oz or Hairspray if I can get discount tickets.

Lol I have seen this movie 5 times and I also was lucky enough to see a stage performance with Marios Fragkoulis as well (quite a famous young opera singer in Europe from Greece). Umm I liked Sound of Music and Mary Poppins as a child and Fiddler on the Roof was very good (only saw movies though as not something to be seen in Cyprus). My other love was Chicago! It was super good!
My favorite is Phantom..i've seen it 5 times...i didn't like the screenplay version of it however. Second is LeMiserables. Alothough i'm dying to see Wicked...heard its GREAT
I also love "Phantom," as does my sister-in-law. I've only seen it on stage twice, though. We both desperately want to go see it in Vegas where they built a special theater for it, including a very, very good chandalier. Apparently the chandalier scene is so realistic they have warnings posted about it outside letting people know that it's all just special effects.
I have a special place in my heart for "Beauty & the Beast." It's my favorite Disney animated flick, and one of the first stage shows I ever saw, so it's a sentimental favorite.
Also, I saw "The Producers" a few years ago and nearly peed myself laughing! I went into it not knowing anything about the story, and damn near soaked my panties because I was laughing so hard at one point. (The movie version didn't do it justice at all, by the way).
I can't stomach Phantom. I had an old flame that used the Phantom music to convince me to have sex with him (My name is Kristine) and then he dumped me. So now I equate everything Phantom with opportunistic men that just want to get laid.
In fact, he ruined it for me with all men that like musicals/shows. If fact, its on my list to give my daughter when she's old enough to date. #1, stay away from bar musicians, #2, stay away from men that 'claim' to love show tunes!!
Before I met him, though, I managed to see Cats and Jesus Christ Superstar and loved them both!! I wouldn't see a show now to save my life...they make me think of fake, overly-romantic men.
I saw Phantom 3 times when it was in Toronto, and it was amazing every time!
Ditto. I saw Phantom on stage twice, and it was incredible. Even though the interval between was a couple of years, I loved every minute of it the second time just as I did the first time. The scene where he takes her on the boat on the underground lake was unbelievable .... the special effects were incredible and one truly believed the boat was moving on water .....
I was extremely happy to share the second performance with my mom, who came to visit me in Canada for the first time. It was also the first time she flew by plane, at the age of 70. She does not speak a word of English and this was the perfect performance to take her to since I could just tell her the story ahead of time or at intermissions and she could still follow. She loved it as well.
Otherwise, I saw Mamma Mia and although I loved the music the performance was only mediocre. I am really into classical opera (especially Verdi and Puccini) and I saw many stage renditions. I would love to go to the Met (if I win the lottery).
Oh I know. I read up on it. I thought it'd be cool to see a twist on it as I sooo love The Wizard of Oz.
Also, I went to see it with some friends who had read the book Wicked, and they said it was very different from that as well. The musical had much less talk about the politics of Oz and such, two completely separate characters were combined into one, and the ending was happier. (I kinda want to read the book now to compare!)
Broadway JUNKIE here, hehe. Not only do I love musicals, but I love performing in them even more! Couldn't you tell by the name? Hehe. As a matter of fact, one of the reasons for which I most want to lose weight is because although I love performing, I feel like a lot of times, I get passed over for roles just because of my weight. I'm sick of lesser-talented skinny-minnies snatching up all of MY roles! Hehe (just kidding).
Anyways, as far as musicals go, I love all of them--the good and the awesomely bad. My favorite composer of all time would have to be Sondheim. He's a genius. But I don't think I could ever choose my favorite musical... There are way too many!
I am so lacking in culture. The only plays I've seen recently were Urinetown (hilarious musical) and The House of Yes (which is also one of my favorite movies and has brilliantly written dialogue).
I think my favorite play I've ever seen was "David and Lisa"
^^I love Urinetown! My school is putting on that show during Winter quarter of next year. I am crossing my fingers and toes that I can get cast as Penelope Pennywise.
