I'm a definite non-planner. Having everything (or even just some of everything) officially planned out would drive me bonkers -- too restrictive. Instead, I just keep healthy foods that I love in the house and just choose from those based on my moods. That being said, I tend to have the same thing for breakfast, lunch, and after-exercise snack every day, so it's easy for me to not go off track for at least those meals. Dinners can vary quite a bit and we often eat out but I usually do pretty well. I'm certainly not one to deny myself something yummy for The Cause but I do try to keep my head about me. Sometimes I even succeed.

I just can't see myself planning and counting for the rest of my life, at least not at the level many here seem to do. Not that there's anything wrong with that at all -- in fact, I sometimes wish I could feel comfortable doing that as a lifestyle. But, I know myself and what I can keep up long-term and what I most likely cannot. So, I'm just using this (usually) counting time while I'm losing as a learning time. Learning what's healthy, what's not, what works for me and what doesn't, and, most importantly, making it second nature. Digesting this whole healthy way of life so that it is who I am, not just something I do. At least that's my goal for now. I reserve the right to change my mind tomorrow.

Sorry for the ramble. It's something that's been bouncing around my brain for a while now and I guess it just came out.

I plan. I think it's fun. Also I have a CSA bag of produce every week so I need to plan what I'm going to do with it. And I too carry around a notebook to write down my plan, but it tends to turn into a book of ideas. Then the plan becomes modified, never followed exactly like it started out to be. But I believe that every actual behavioral action begins with a thought and an intention, and when it is written down, the intention becomes stronger, and more likely to be acted upon.
