Water - I drink a pint of water first thing in the morning, Dana. That's one really big help to me. I may get that in before I even get the bed made or get the first family member out the door for the day. I'm not hungry yet at that time, so I don't have the feeling I want anything with it - have just gotten used to early morning water. The taste of the water is not competing with any other taste, either, and it honestly never dawns on me to think something else would have tasted better. That way I'm 16 ounces on my way to my water goal before the day's barely started, before I've even decided on my breakfast. It makes the rest of the water goal for the day seem more do-able all day long.

Welcome, Stronger. Don't pay too much attention to the slip-ups. Just start again from where you are and keep going! Good luck.

Welcome, Bean87 - gee bathing suit season. Is anyone buying a new suit this year? I have a really nice one I'll be getting BACK into and may just be happy with that. I don't get a chance to swim much anyway. I know some of us here swim for part of our exercise, though.

Hey Everyone, hope all is well!
And welcome Stronger and Bean87!

I am a fairly happy woman today... Monday is my weigh in for WW and...

I've lost 2 and a half pounds!
Am thrilled as I worked hard for it this week, except for Saturday where I slipped quite badly (like 34 WW points instead of 19!)... by the way, thanks for the kind words after my rant!
Whittlin, am sure you are right and it is simply cultural differences. Anyway felt so much better about it the next day (despite the binge!) and even a little silly for writing it all down here, but I think it helped so thanks!
(Oh and I've noticed you and i have the same amount to go and same goal weight... not too far off now!)

Doughnut - 3.6, Well Done! I think putting on weight is mandatory in Italy (except for Italian girls...how does that work!?) I know living there was where I put on ALL of mine! Great that yours is going so quickly!

Hey Dana, sorry you've been ill... just so you know, am stretching out my hand right now to pull you back up on the wagon! (where i am determined to stay after teetering on the edge over the weekend!) If you eat well it will help both your illness and your weightloss plus stop you worrying about being in a rut which won't help you get better anyway! The exercise can come when your feeling healthy again!

Ok, better stop now as I am rambling. My aim this week is to stay within points, exercise tues-sat and put on a whole heap of fake tan before I have to be in a bikini in Portugal next Monday!!!

Good Luck all,

Caro

Welcome Stronger and Bean!

Congratulations on the loss, Carobelle!

Whittlin--I'll be buying a new suit this year--the ones I have from last year are too big. I do have a couple of suits that fit that I wear for lap swimming, but I want something much more fun for lounging around the pool.

Dana, sorry you're not feeling well. Don't be so hard on yourself--you're sick! As Carobelle said, it would be good to eat well, but at some point you have to just let the exercise go until you are healthy. I had a bad sore throat earlier this year and missed over a weeks' worth of workouts. It s***ed because it took several weeks to get back to where I was before I got sick, cardio-wise, but there just wasn't anything to be done about it. Sometimes we have setbacks that we can't control.

I was on track all last week and my goal is to stay that way this week (except for one possible dinner out with a friend). I have a wedding to go to on March 3 and a little black dress to wear to it and I want to look fabulous in the dress. I've watched all my friends get married and thought I was done with weddings but then a bunch of them got divorced; now they are starting to get remarried again. I've never been married, so this puts them two weddings up on me. At least I can look good this time around!

I bought a sleek new digital scale and a small salad spinner yesterday. No more knocking the bowl off the cheapo analog scale for me and no more drying my lettuce with a paper towel (like that works, anyway)!

I very seldom have shifts as bad as that one. It felt like I was in a blender until about 5:30 ... running patients hither and yon, people pukin', blowing off colostomy bags, seizuring, demanding to see a nurse because my kleenex box is missing ... oi! I went to sit in my car and cried for my break.
Oh and I've got a few thoughts for the "YOU" thread about some so called co-workers!
I'm nauseatingly not hungry. I don't even particularly want a glass of wine. I just need some quiet ... some encouraging reading ... about a liter of water.
I'm so glad this site is here!
Sooner or later my bed will feel wonderful ... but not just for a few minutes.

Awww Susie-Sue At least you get to come home and not put up with those people 24/7. Imagine their spouses Can't you feel sorry for them making demands 24/7???

Whoever asked about my knee... I kinda sprained it doing a 10K race Saturday before last. There were people all over the track near the end and I had to move sideways quickly to avoid a dog. It only really hurts to walk Anyway, it's feeling better today after resting it a fair bit yesterday

Oh and Bean, fibre, recommended 30-35g per day. I don't know about fibre chews But I'd say get in plenty of whole-grains like quinoa, oats, wholewheat pasta, brown/wild rice, and lots of healthy, unprocessed grain. Also beans and legumes are good for fibre. If fibre's not your problem, then try actimel or yakult, those little pro-biotic drinks. I swear by them

So anyways... I thought I had a mad lesson last night until I read Susan's post! I had 3 5 yo newbies, and one 5 yo from a couple of weeks ago who were hyperactive and excitable and completely mental! What's worse is their parents shouting to them to tell them stuff that I'm telling them. They turn around and look at mum/dad and completely miss what I'm saying next I might have to ban parents. One of the newbies is autistic and I already have a kid with ADHD - fortunately she was fairly well behaved last night

I plopped in the bath when I got home with my phone and a choc-ice and rang my mummy

Susan and 2fru... such brave women, ill people and hypo children!
Susan, if I knew how to send one of those hug things I would do that now... oh and I didn't know there was a 'YOU' thread... I'll have to check it out and save you guys from listening to my moaning!
2Fru...agree about the parents, do they not realise it would be better if they were just quiet (or not there!) or worse still the competative parents yelling at their tiny children telling them to win etc...scary!
Look after that knee!

Thanks everyone! I'm not sure if this is ordinary or it may be a depress/anxious persons response but ... this morning I'm just empty, drained ... empty headed even like there's a space between my ears. I'm having trouble even thinking in a straight line. Blech!

I'll have my shake and do a few step-by-step things and go outside for a while. That oughta do it. The only must is primer and paint. If I don't pick that up today before work, I'll be screwed for tomorrow.
Calmly ... in a logical fashion ....

I think you're just recovering from yesterday! I know I feel a bit blah like that on days after a hard day

Frus~I don't know how you do it with those kids!!! When I take DS to Karate, often the class before him is the little ones. They don't listen at all! Thankfully, most of the parents stay out of it!

Susan~sorry to hear you had such a frustrating day at work. Hopefully today will be better.

I think I almost cracked last night - fortunately it's only once a week! I often think, as long as they're here, doing relatively what they're supposed to be doing, not actually hitting each other HARD or making each other cry, then that's ok! Oh I even had one kid getting poked in the eye because the front row were standing too close together to do what I wanted them to do without bashing into each other! MAN! KIDS! I'm not being encouraged into parenthood after last night!

A little shopping therapy gals. I got the rest of the stuff we need for the entertainment unit, chose colours for the laundry room and found the most perfectly beautiful floor tile ...... $3.63 per tile!

$3.63 per tile isn't too bad, unless the tile is 2"-3" square. What size are you getting? I guess a lot depends on the size of the room.

Susan and Fru,

Nurses and teachers get the gold and silver medal for sainthood.

Nurses especially. Take care of yourself Susan.

But I am also in awe of people who teach hoards of little kids. I have been a teacher of teenagers which some think is crazy but I think the little ones are harder.

Don't let it scare you away from parenting. It is way different. (though tough in its own right)

I also think banning parents is good. There is a parent child dynamic that is not so easy to turn off and it can interfere with the teacher student relationship. What are you teaching these little totlings anyways. You have my enternal respect.

I did my groovy run today. 3 5-minute sets must have been about a half mile each not sure. Plus a bunch of walking. I am almost doing 5k total but at least half is walking. Still it is a huge for me.

Then I stretched for 25 minutes and did about 25 minutes of legs.

It is a tricky balance trying to push yourself hard enough to make progress and not so hard that you crumble on the floor. So far so good. You ladies are inspiring.

Welcome Bean!

Take it easy Dana, sick happens. You have plenty of time to get into a routine.

Stronger, I hope you find an excercise that you like as much as running. I never knew I would love running so much. In the past I always tried to do too much too soon. I think I am starting to get the idea of what you need to do to train. I can understand why you miss it.

Have a great day everyone.

Hikerchick~I am so envious!!! After doing my 5k on Sunday, I have dreams of actually RUNNING (or at least jogging) in one! I walked fast with 3 or 4 small spurts of jogging. I'd love to have someone nearby to train with. I just cannot seem to get the motivation to do it myself.

And the size of the budget If I can find a really nice tile and it goes well in the laundry room, we'll bring it right through the kitchen. Then it'll be LOTS of tile. This is the first place I've actually seen one I liked and it's a small town lumber yard. I'm sure we can do better when we look further afield. Ach more shopping
