How about putting the scales on a chopping board or some other hard surface first?
I reckon you could do 11lb before summer easily if you want it.

I lost 15lb in 3 months last year and really enjoyed the process (although you're pretty tiny to start with, so the point is to just keep moving in the right direction and more slowly is probably more sustainably anyway, so don't worry if it's slow - just keep measuring where you're at so you can see the progress.
