What do you think losing weight will change in your life? What do you think will be different? Better? Worse?
Better:
I think that I will stress less about my general health, in particular my risk for heart disease. My Dad died of a heart attack at 53. Everyone (both parents, all his aunts, and both siblings) in his family has has a issue with heart attacks/strokes/cancer. Some of that was their lifestyle choices, but some is genetics, too. Since I got 1/2 of my genes from that group, my chances are high for heart disease. I need to maintain a healthy lifestyle to keep the odds in my favor.
Additionally I can start dressing better again. Not that I dress badly now, but my choices are more limited. Shopping used to be fun. Now it's a hassle.
Worse:
DH and I have very little in common when it comes to health/food. It's probably going to get worse before it gets better. He needs to lose about 40 pounds too, but he's not motivated to do it, he just wants to whine about it. Whereas I am actually taking action. Sadly to say, the more action I have to take alone, the less action he gets.
What won't change: I'm still going to be snarky, obsessive compulsive, and unabashedly frugal and perpetually broke. Haven't found a weightloss plan yet that changes any of those things.
