kfunk: Good to see you continuing to do better. I'm a peanut butter on toast person too. I eat that, with some cheddar cheese and an apple a few times a week as a meal. They go surprisingly well together. I tried eating an apple after having a tuna fish sandwich yesterday...they did NOT go as well together.

Sunshine: That was me who commented on the size 8. That's good to hear. I started out at a 18W, but should have been in a 20W. I'm down to a 16 regular now. I suppose with the vanity sizing, I could eventually get to an 8. The reason i said what I did is because I was a very healthy weight in high school and starting college and I believe I was a 12 then. I really am just big boned and big boobed. So being smaller than a 12 seems unlikely. But a 12 that many years ago probably IS an 8 today. So maybe I will get there.

Not a big loss to start out week 4, but I'll take even a small one. I seem to have hit a plateau the last 3 days. Hope it is just a small one. I've done this pattern before too, where I plateau for 3 or 4 days and then drop weight really fast again before plateauing for a few days again. Hopefully, I get a drop again before the weekend.

A bit of a gain this morning, I think mainly because I didn't hydrate yesterday. I had a little lapse with food, instead of being patient and waiting for rice to cook (about 30 minutes in our old rice cooker) I had chips and salsa, which pushed back my dinner by a couple of hours. Usually in those moments I'd eat a piece of fruit but we're in desperate need of a food shop, which is happening today! I also need to do laundry that has piled up after being sick last week

In other news, I'm almost done with my painting by numbers! Unfortunately, my initial worries were correct, it is a knock off. I found a youtube video of someone doing the same design and some of the colors are different + the real one includes a lot more detail in the face. I'm a bit disappointed, however I got it for free after an Amazon delivery blunder (it was reported as failed to deliver so I got my money back!) so I don't feel quite so bad. I said to the bf that one day I'll just buy the real thing and do it all over again! It still looks ok, but I would still prefer the original one day since it's such a cool pic! I've already picked out my next one from a reputable website, excited to get started on another. It's nice having a hobby that takes me away from screens!

kfunk - We sound eerily similar, I'm the same way regarding having to finish things that I start eating even if I'm full. I think it's down to personality types sometimes, I believe I have a more addictive-prone personality so when I start something I want to finish it. I also have a hard time letting go when I know food is available. Pizza for example, if I know there's more slices to be had, I'll go eat them even if I'm stuffed. I just can't shake the feeling that it's there! Chocolate too, my Mum will sometimes send me care packages from the UK full of chocolate, and I just eat it constantly until it's all gone. Some people are different, they could wrap up that pizza and have it the next day or even throw it away because they no longer want it. They could even leave chocolate sitting there for weeks and just forget all about it. I'm so aware of myself that I don't drink coffee, because I know I would become addicted to it. I firmly believe that certain people are more prone to addiction than others and I put myself in that category. I don't drink coffee for that reason, because I know that I would become addicted/dependent on it.
Your yo-yo dieting could very well be a factor behind your bad eating habits. I haven't successfully been on a diet, because my brain will immediately want everything that I'm forbidden to have. Perhaps subconsciously you are the same way? The restrictions might become too much to handle and you feel yourself losing control and the minute that you snap from the pressure of sticking to a diet that's when the binge eating begins? I'm just thinking out loud here, I hope I don't offend you and please correct me if I'm wrong! I'm putting myself in your shoes and thinking what I would do in that position and I know diets simply do not work for me. I basically researched what healthy eating is and try to slowly incorporate that into my life rather than following a plan/guide. I need to make my own independent decisions to eat healthily, I feel like a diet is too much like someone telling me what to eat and when to eat, that I don't feel like I'm in control of my own health.

fungirl - I'm the same way, especially when it comes to hormones. Once a month I get the urge to devour everything and eat junk, it's really hard for me to remain calm and ignore those cravings! But I know I need to learn and channel that into something that doesn't relate to food. It's a process, that's for sure!

Thank you kfunk - my weight goes down a little every day - just endless cardio, weights, and aqua aerobics and coupled with a 1400 calorie diet with zero cheating, the weight is just falling off. I have to work hard to continue this at home when I return in September.

Been in the mood for eating healthily this week, and the weekend didn't give me the expected bump up as much as usual this week, so all up i've been more or less dropping weight the last 10 days and am now getting closer to the lower edge of my target zone with 112.4 this morning.

No worries though because I've got a long weekend up in Queensland with friends coming up next, so doubtless i'll gain a few lbs there!

Semi confident of coming in at mid-range by the end of the month (and still expecting some high/low excursions between now and then!) so all on track really for completing my third month of maintenance.

Just happy that i'm still happy to eat well mainly and get back to it after weekend splurges. And grateful that i'm not (yet) fighting a desire to over eat 2Much!

I binged again last night, basically finished all the leftovers in my fridge
I'm an emotional eater, food made me feel better at the moment, but I feel so bad the next morning.

Fungirl- I can relate to feeling happy and safe during a binge, I even plan them sometimes and get really excited about them. You have come so far from where you were... to limit the binges to a meal instead of days is amazing progress!!!

gardenerjoy- you are so close to your goal, you can do it!!

Lacerta- Thank you! I might have to try your meal combo, it sounds really good!!

riestrella- that little bump will come off in no time!! That is a bummer that your paint by numbers ended up being a knock off, but it is really cool that you found a hobby that excites you!! I am right there with you with the addictive personality!!! I have gone through phases of self destructive habits and end up swapping out the bad one for something that is equally as bad. If I got a package full of chocolate I would totally eat it all in one sitting. I would talk myself into finishing it so that it is all gone because in my mind eating a small amount of chocolate each day is worse than getting rid of it at once... its crazy the stuff I can talk myself into! And I also have a difficult time with pizza, it is one of my triggers for sure. My husband would agree with your theory of why I end up binging. He thinks that I am too strict and eventually I cant take it any longer and go crazy. It is definitely a good theory, but this diet is the first diet I have gone on where I don't feel deprived, so I don't know if that would be the reason, but it makes so much sense! I definitely do not do good with grey area. If I know that I will be going out to dinner I will end up eating anything I want all day instead of being careful up until dinner and then enjoying myself. I feel like that is what most people do, but I haven't fully mastered that skill yet. And absolutely nothing you are saying is offensive at all!!! So far calorie counting has been my favorite way to lose weight. I feel like I can eat whatever (within reason) and not feel deprived. It definitely helps that my tastes have changed the older I get and I can now prefer healthy, nutritious foods over fast food!!

Joe- I feel the exact same way after a binge. I hope that you are able to forgive yourself and move on, today is a new day!!!

raining- you are so close to your goal, keep on going!!

darius- are they working with you to help you come up with a plan for when you return home?

ange- You are doing so well, I hope to be just like you when I hit maintenance!!!

Yesterday was another good day, I feel excited!! I did end up eating a bagel with some cream cheese that was not planned. To make up for that I drank extra water and did not have my nightly treat of hot cocoa. It felt good to stay in control despite going "off plan" with the bagel.

Hi everyone. I walked about 5 miles today. I haven;t been able to walk or hike for about the past 3 days due to our really poor air quality. The reason our air quality is so bad is due to all the forest fires in western Canada, especially Alberta and British Columbia. We were a 10+ air quality rating and were issued a health warning. We are supposed to have a bit of rain this weekend which should help get rid of some of the smoke.

Darius - congrats on your weightloss!

kfunk - I'm so glad you are doing so well

rie - I really enjoyed reading your posts regarding overeating and dieting in general. Your posts made a lot of sense to me and very well put.

raining - you're doing great

gardenerjoy - you're so close to goal - keep going

Kfunk, Rolfing is aimed at improving body alignment and functioning. It’s soft tissue manipulation to re-organized the natural body alignment. The best way I can describe it is...I feel like they stretch all the ligaments and tendons in my body (it hurts in a good way). Each session is about an hour and half. I feel so relaxed (like I’m in on cloud 9) and I can fully move all my joints.

Lacerta, I’m a curvy girl too and wouldn’t change it. I have noticed the older I get, I just want to be comfortable. I do feel comfortable in 10-12 and like to stay in that range.

Congratulations to everyone getting closer your goal. And those who have reached their goal, that is awesome!

We should all be proud of ourselves for making an effort to be healthier.
