Laura - what kind of water bottle did you settle on? Or are you not telling so that we don't snatch them out from you?
I bought a metal one last year - it keeps hot or cold - might be Thermos brand, not sure and am too lazy to go down and rummage through the cabinets for it but I do like it a lot. I bought it more for long distance car travels, especially in the warm weather. Sorry you missed seeing Fed Up but thank you for reminding me I could probably rent it from the library.
I like those "bands" you got tickets for - is Michael McDonald still touring with the Doobie Brothers? He was the sound of the group - just like John Fogerty with CCR. Doobie Brothers music will always remind me of my college days. As for your question about Saucony shoes, I have never worn them - I think they, like Nikes, tend to run too narrow for a good fit for me. Let us know how you like them. Annie - oh that salad sounded really good. I am really liking pairing fruit with chicken in a salad - oranges, mandarins, grapes, cranberries - just about anything good. Yum. Lite House brands makes a spicy Citrus (orange) vinaigrette that we sometimes use - DH more than me because it does have a bite to it. I think it's pretty conservative in calories too. We had a salad with rotisserie chicken the other night too - DH said it was a nice change of pace. As for your question on hair color - after being blond more than half my life, I went darker a few years ago and I really liked the darker color - sometimes I went even a bit darker than my natural color. My Mom hated it. The one problem with the medium brown is that pretty much the top half of my head is white hair so not only did the roots show quickly but they tended to make my thin hair look even worse because it looked like I had bald spots where the white started to show through. I was also reading that dark hair tends to age you. I was debating about just letting my hair grow out - it's pretty white on top so I'd look like a platinum rather than salt and pepper. When I told a few people about my plan they all said no - especially the guys. They told me I was too young and did I want to look like "those ladies", meaning the other ladies at the shop - most of which have let their hair go natural. My DH said it was my hair and it didn't matter to him what I did with it as long as I didn't look freaky - ie shaved on one side or rainbow clown hair. In the end I went back to blond - very light blond based on my hairdresser's suggestion. I do have very small lowlights in my hair but I have to admit, while it took me a couple of weeks to get used to it again, everyone really likes it and the few lowlights actually bounce a lot of light off of it. I like it because I can stretch out colorings to about 8 weeks - even at 8 weeks the outgrowth is not that different than the color so it blends well. My sister was going even darker than me and she went to an Aveda salon and the hairdresser did not listen at all to what she asked for - cut her hair differently and put a ton of highlights in and really lightened up her hair to a light brown with lots of dimension. We checked out each other's looks on a FB chat and she looked incredible. I would have to agree that the lighter, softer color really made her look much younger. The dark was "harsh" when I saw the 2 in comparison. If you decide to go back to brunette, it might be better if you got some highlights to frame the hair around your face to catch the light. But if your hair grows fast, you will probably have to color it more often than you do now so that might be an issue. I'd vote to stay on the light side. Also... maybe you and Sissy can do a girl's day out and go over to a wig shop - just to try a darker color on for size to see what you think. As for Sissy's comment that people will know you are not a natural blonde, at this point, who cares????
Most of the people you see on tv or in magazines have been "altered" so no one is natural any more
That was nice of you to help out the kids with an extra appliance - the older ones probably are more durable than what you'd buy new today anyway which is why the ones in our basements that are 20 years old are still running
And I don't blame you for avoiding manhole covers either after the explosions. Those things are cast iron and weigh as much as a car - total death bomb if they get launched into the air!
I never liked stepping on them anyway - one of my friend's brother's stepped on one and it was not sitting correctly over the hole and he fell partially in and really bashed up his man parts ! True story. City living is dangerous!!!!
Laura - I have to agree with you - if you can't afford a salon color, then at least get someone (you trust) to apply the color for you. It is SO HARD to do the back of your own hair and after a few times if you aren't covering it evenly, it looks horrible from the backside. Sometimes I wonder what all these years of dye might have done to my brain but I've drank Coca Cola for all of my adult life and smoked for half of it too so I'm sure I have done lots of damage to my poor old self.
Hope you had a fun cooking class Terra - I can see why you'd be happy to get out from the house after being inside for several days.
Michelle - although working from home or a short commute is desirable, I guess you have to go with the job that will offer the most security and benefits. Hopefully you won't have to travel all the way to SF daily. I liked BART - except for the last time I was on it travelling to my friend's place outside of Oakland. Took the train, was in the tube (underneath San Francisco Bay) and when we got to the other side they stopped the train to check for track damage as there had been a minor earthquake while we were travelling underneath the bay. I stayed calm but that totally freaked me out - after that train: yes, riding under a giant body of water: no, no, no. The train beats driving too - at least you get some free time to yourself while someone else drives. That probably will complicate things with Santa though. Oh and I meant to ask - did you change Santa's name because he was originally named Santo after Ron Santo - the famous Chicago Cubs baseball player?
Hello to the rest of the fine Worldlies.
I am bad - I NEED to get some things done here in the next 8 days and I keep vowing at night that I will tackle them first thing in the morning and then the day runs away from me. We were supposed to go to the next town to Kohl's as I need to return a bunch of stuff I ordered - bras are as hard to fit as shoes are! But we were supposed to get snow so we put that on hold. I really need about 2 days uninterrupted by myself to focus, focus, focus. And it starts by getting a decent night's sleep NOW.
So goodnight all, check you in the morning.

Probably not
I hate to see something with good writing end. Back to the Food Network I guess. I hear you on the hair rut thing - I have baby fine, straight hair and a square face and eye glasses so that really limits styles. Long hair does not look good once you get older, especially if you don't have a lot of it so I reluctantly had to give that style up. Doesn't leave me with many options other than the standard mid length bob. I fantasize about losing weight and maybe being able to wear more styles
Kohl's now too splits and order into 12 separate shipments so I had to assemble all the stuff I am returning and match up receipts so I have one neat package to take to customer service. It's getting to be a pain to shop there. Please don't go the way of Sears and Penneys Kohls. That took well over 90 minutes of assembling and try ons.

I’m sure the 11-year old girl would like Cinderella…good luck with the 13-year old boy, lol.
