It's Thursday and I am off work today and tomorrow . . . SOOOOOOOOOOO excited. I don't really have anything planned . . . just wash clothes, clean the house a bit and EXERCISE AND EXERCISE AND more EXERCISE . . . I need to make up for my eating earlier this week . . . (OH NO . . . ) I've started doing JM No More Trouble Zones . . . all I can say is OH MY!! This is a VERY intense workout, if any of you have ever done The 30-day shred . . . it's like that but MORE INTENSE AND DOUBLE THE TIME . . . I did it yesterday and wasn't sure I'd be able to get out of bed this morning, but I did and did my Zumba this am

OK, I'm rambling and I have no idea why . . . Anyway . . . on losses and NSV's, hang tough when there's cake around (I always have a problem with this) and just say NO (OK, easier said than done) . . . I'm doing more fruits and veggies today . . .

  • Weekly weighin
    Challenge start: Jan1 = 240lb
    Last weigh in: Feb26 = 226
    This week: Mar5 = 225lb
Had a pretty crappy week - think it was PMS realated... Super munchy all week and cranky too. Still, a pound is a pound! Plus I managed to walk 11.5 miles over the last week. That's more exercise miles in a week than all of 2010! I've been walking 2.5-3.5 miles every other day for the last two weeks, total of about 20miles. It's actually starting to feel like a habit - I sort of, almost crave it. strange!
  • Morning everyone;

Weigh in today, not what I want, but I'll take it and considering I was NOT BEHAVING the first half of the week, it seems about right.

Morning everyone! I was out of town over the weekend so I am posting my Sunday weigh-in a bit late. Back down a bit from last week's blip, another pound below the previous week. I'm trying not to let myself feel frustrated even though the scale has been bouncing all over within a 5 pound range from one day to the next for the last two weeks now.
  • Morning all,

It's Monday and time to start a NEW week . . . so hang in there, do what you know works and you will melt that BUTT-er . . .

  • Welcome back, foodmasochist!

I think my TOM upswing is on it's way out, so I am feeling a little less frustrated at the scale this morning. I had a wellness assessment on Monday with a personal trainer at school. She did two different body fat measurements. One was using a 3 site caliper method and the other was one of the hand held bioelectrical impedance devices.

The previous night's tape-measure method put my BF% at 41.8%. Her Bioelectrical Impedance method said 36.2%, and her caliper method said 27.6%. No way is my bulk that much muscle, so I can definitely discount the caliper method!

But then yesterday I was reading about the "Body Adiposity Index", which is supposed to be a much better correlation with actual body fat percentage and again only relies on having a tape measure to calculate.

    For the curious: BAI = BF% = (Hip Measurement (in centimeters) / (Height [meters])^1.5) - 18.

So using that I got a value of 38.2%. So the BAI, the BIE method and the tape measure method are all 38.2 +/- 2ish percent. Three independent methods giving results that similar, I will go ahead and assume that for me at least, it's pretty accurate. Any of the rest of you feel like trying it out to compare?

I'll be off to the gym as soon as I can get my butt off the couch and eat a quick breakfast. I've been alternating days of doing 1+ hours of strength training with 45 minutes or more of cardio. I actually feel like I have some muscles in my arms now, rather than just noodles. This makes me very excited! As far as my spring running mini-goal.... not making so great of progress. In addition to me still running way too slowly, we had about 4 - 6" of slush dumped on us overnight, so I won't be hitting the sidewalks or paths around here for many days.
  • Welcome back, foodmasochist!

Well done to everyone who's working so hard!

Six weeks and ten pounds to go - this still seems possible to me. Just keep swimming (or running or moving or eating healthfully).
