  • I feel ya Teacherlady.

Last night for dinner, my husband wanted to go to this seafood buffet he likes. I have only been there once years ago (he goes afterwork sometimes with his buddies)...and didn't know what they served. Hubby said they had some grilled fish and salad bar and I should be fine.

Well, we got there and they did have a salad bar, but it was your standard fried seafood buffet. Fried catfish, shrimp, chicken, french fries, even fried green beans and squash! Well, luckily, they had some sort of grilled looking fish (no batter) and I took a fillet of that and a salad. Well, the "grilled" fish was smoked, not grilled. It tasted like eating campfire. I just couldn't do it. It was gross.

So I got some fried shrimp and tried peeling off most of the batter...and then I caved and had a scoop of their homemade ice cream for dessert.

I am back OP today...but I'm mad that I let one little slipup (I had no choice but to eat those shrimp) turn into an excuse to eat ice cream. Oh well....we make those choices and we have to learn from them and live with them.

    Back to the grind...
  • Quote: What kind of exercising are we talking about here? I just recently asked about this since I had upped my exercise. I told them I work out 30 - 60 minutes on the treadmill a day and I take 2 Body Sculpting classes a week. She told me that it was fine and I'd have to be doing a lot more than that for the exercising to be too much.
At the point I stopped losing for a month, I was doing 3 hard core circuit classes with a trainer (about 600cal burn per class), a zumba class (600 cal) and a 2 hour hike (800 cal) per week, as well as 2-3 1hr karate lessons. Many of these were 2/day workouts, so was burning more than I was eating. I was literally starving my body and it was conserving all it could. I was so tired that I would do the exercise, then nap for a couple of hours (I was taking B6, B12, D, multi, EFA's...). I think that treadmill should be fine and body sculpting is less cardio/more strength (although my heart rate still increases in those classes). You should be fine, just keep an eye on your loss rate and energy level.
  • Quote: So these last few days have been pretty stressful...Yesterday I witnessed a car accident in front of my house. This girl was speeding and the roads were icy because it had just snowed...her car slid and she hit the median and her car flipped and rolled into oncoming traffic, causing a 6 car pileup. Because she wasn't wearing a seatbelt, she was thrown from her windshield and died while her friend was trapped inside getting hit by all the cars...and then I had to see the body because it was right outside my window I cried for 15 mins...cuz the girl was only 20.

And on top of that I'm still super bloated from TOM and went to my weigh in and didn't lose anything. I feel like I lost something, and my clothes are looser but the scale just isn't budging. I just want to get the heck out of the 200s already!
I actually knew that girl.. I went to high school with her. It's sad that she died because everyone knew that she was going somewhere with her life. She was loved by a lot of people and will be missed very much.
  • Hi Katlinette!
I am also from Colorado! Just started posting here! Are you also doing MRC? If so, which center are you going to?
  • I think I am losing a lot more inches than pounds. The scale is barely moving but I am starting to feel a difference in my rings. I think I can see a difference in my face. Does this happen often? Last time I lost the pounds and then the inches.

The last time I was measured I had lost about 22 inches. I go back for measurements this week so we will see if it is all in my head.

    Hey lilmiss,
I'm going to the center on Galley in Colorado Springs. I started MRC at the end of December!

Yea they had a memorial last week for her...It's just so sad that she died so young...

That's how I feel...I can see a small difference in my face, and my clothes are def looser, but the scale just isn't budging. But MRC just switched my plan from Beige to Green, so hopefully this will help me start losing more...
  • milasmommy and kaitlinette -

That is very sad about the girl you knew. I live north of Denver, so didn't hear about it.

Mila is VERY cute. You both are doing great!!!

Aww thanks! She's my only one for now, which is why I'm trying to lose weight...I want another one, but I want to be healthy before I get pregnant again...
  • Well, friends, I think I must have done something wrong this weekend. The scale went up just a tad. I don't know if I'm bloated (for no apparent reason) or if I worked out too hard.
I had one bite of a breadstick at supper on Sat. evening, because I'd forgotten to bring my Melba toast. I figured one bite would be around 40-50 calories, and since food combinations are what this diet is all about, I thought I'd better eat a bit of carbs rather than forgo them. What would you have done? Should I have just skipped it altogether? Would that be considered going off-plan?
Then, after that, I did an intense weight-training circuit followed by a wussy aerobic workout. But, overall, I don't think my workout time exceeded 4 hours this week.
So, I'm hoping my scale at home is just grumpy today and that I'll be able to sign the 20 pound board this evening. I was one pound away on Thursday, so fingers crossed that I didn't screw anything up.
  • I feel terrible. I just ate the yummiest cupcake (my friend had it special made with my name on it) and now I feel a little sick. I am trying to drink extra water to maybe flush the sugar out, but I also just feel bad about eating the cupcake. I guess I will have to walk an extra mile tonight.

    Thanks for letting me share.

It's okay, it's a small slip up but just try to stick to the plan for the rest of the day, don't beat yourself up about it. I know that when I cheated, none of the food that I ate sat well with me, and it just didn't taste right...

Just get back on the plan and drink lots of water...you'll get through it!
  • I just signed the 30 lb board!!!! I can't believe I am the person I see in the mirror. I can't believe in two months this is what happened. I have a little to go, but wow this really worked. I went through my closet last week and took all my clothes that don't fit to my mom. (She is loosing weight too and is in need of smaller clothes. I think I will keep passing clothes down until we can both steal them from my little sister!!) I took 2 LARGE garbage bags of clothes to her. I then convinced my husband that I needed to buy 1 pair of jeans to get me through this transitional period. I went shopping and bought a size 10! WOW a size 10. Can't remember the last time I was a size 10. Even better the next size is a single number.
Stick with it ladies. It really does work. Take one day at a time.
