  • Quote: I am still confused on total carbs and net carbs . Does Fit day tell us our net carbs or our total carbs . Im not to smart about all this stuff . Help ! Please !
Fit day shows total carbs and then if you scroll below your food journal there is a graph that shows your total fiber intake and you can subtract that from your total carbs and that's how you get your net carb count.

Maybe see what your coach has to say about it, every coach seems to differ on opinion. My coach says to stay below 20 g of net carbs or 30 g of total carbs to achieve optimal results on the program. So far it seems to be working for me but perhaps they give everyone different #'s based on their needs.

  • Anybody else still get super nervous to go weigh in?? I have a 4:30 appt and a very nervous stomach even though I know I did well

Every week since I started I get nervous and excited to see how I've done!! It's funny how you can know you had a great week but that scale is so daunting sometimes I'm sure you'll do great - good luck!
  • I struggled becuase my scale at home does not match the scale at my weigh in. It was always less at home (bummer). But I can always tell when I lost. Have a great weigh in ladies.
  • Way to go!!!!! I can't wait to make it to onderland!

yep, I get nervous too! EVERY WEEK and have since January! I guess it's the fear that you wont do as well as you want too, and since this diet is so expensive it is always in the back of your mind!
  • I am now a proud member of Onderland!!!!

    Congratulations and welcome!
I am going to start a list of all of the things I love about losing weight.
    1. I can breathe while I bend over and tie my tennis shoes.
    2. I can walk without my knees throbbing shortly after I start.
    3. I can sit through a long evening classical music concert without almost falling asleep.
    4. I can leave a restaurant without feeling stuffed and ill.
    5. I have so much more free time since I'm not constantly figuring out what I should eat next and then eating it!
    6. I do not have to struggle with cravings all day long.
I know there is much, much more. Ideas anyone??

Very exciting, Sam! Way to go!
  • Quote: UGH - I know!! This is what I posted the other day:

Okay so regarding the 20 g of carbs thing - here is what my coach said:

According to the regional director for western Canada, if you are going to count NET carbs, you should try to stay below 20 grams per day. If you are talking total carbs you should be trying to stay below 30 grams per day to stay in ketosis and continue to lose the 3 - 7 lbs per week.

**I'm not sure if I can completely agree with this personally for a couple reasons

    1) I have been on bootcamp since I started IP (no restricted items and mostly select veggies) and I barely stay below 20 g of NET carbs per day....so anyone using restricted foods would never get below 20 g of net carbs. (but apparently that is why they are now saying you should only have restricted items 1 or 2 times per week no matter which item it is)

    2) some carbs are required in your day to have continued brain function, how much are you willing to sacrifice to lose those extra pounds...

Anyway that is the answer I got, on average I am staying below 20 g of net carbs so I'm not that concerned with a day here or there that I might go above it.

    Hope that helps!
Ok makes sense nets carbs vs grams. Got it.
Thanks Jordanna you are always so helpful.
  • I'm new at this so please bare with me....I have been on the IP diet not quite a year ago. It worked, but I didn't stick with it because of the $$$. Now I want to try again for a couple of reasons....1st, because I lost weight on it and felt great!! Second, I'm going to have my knees replaced in a couple of months and feel that loosing some weight first will add in the recovery. My question to you is....does anyone know, can I use this diet during the days I am having the surg? I hate to be on it then off and back on again. What are your thoughts? I am 5'1" tall and weigh 205#.
