Afternoon
Seems like every one is busy doing their chores.

Mel
Hope the quiet continues. Bedbugs hasve invaded some of the near by cities. Hope I don't get them here.

Kasey
I couldn't of resisted that enchalda either but you have a good plan for today. You are inspiring me.

Happy
It's a rainy day here also. That north wind is bone chilling when you are outside.

I've been to the grocery store. I only meant to get some chicken breast but ended up spending more than I wanted to.

I've made chicken and dumplings using a super easy recipe that one of my moms friends gave her. Also have walked 1.4 miles while shopping today. May do some floor work a little later.

Didn't notice that our street is lined with fall color until yesterday.

My aunt called last night. They were in a car wreck last week and are both still a little sore. They were turning off on to their drive way when some one rammed them from behind. Sent them into a spin and ended up in a ditch. She said it totaled their car and the person that hit them had damaged the front end of his truck. He had neither insurance or a driver's license.
Called my sis who lives in MO to ask about her son who had an MRI on his lower back when I was there. She said they were still doing test. i've tried to call my sis who lives in Dallas but she hasn't answer either phone.

Morning all,
Well I got my walk/run in this morning just in time by the look of it. It is now raining quite heavily. No garden work this morning for this fatchick.

Ceejay - haven't been to Colorado yet, but my friend in NM says it is very pretty. He and his wife took me too some Indian ruins in NM which were very interesting. Have to go to that place where you can get yourself into four States at once. Monument corner or something?
Hope the aunt and uncle are okay. Poor things. I wonder how many people there are out there who don't have car insurance. Useless bunch.

Michelle - busy, busy, busy - don't forget to take time to rest and relax as well - although the water aerobics sounds like fun.

Mel - yeah, well I hope I didn't upset any one with my hard and fast views on gun toting. But if the endangered species had any say in it, they would probably come marching over the hill and wipe us all out because of what we have done to them. I must be getting old, I am now more in defence of the animals and bugs than people. Look for a stoushy old lady wielding the in defence of the cat at a corner near you shortly!!!!

Kasey - well done for following up swiftly on the enchilada overdose. Very easy to do I might add. What's the healthy menu for tonight then??

Happy - hope you don't get stuck under those piles. However it is a very good idea to get started with thinking about the move now. Get rid of as much as you can. Remember to take a break once in a while.

Right, better go and see what is needed to be done today. Not that I am going to work too hard. I have the rest of the week to do that. Today will be pottering and tidying.

Ceejay - sorry about your family getting in the wreck. Glad that they are okay. I hope that the person who hit them was responsible for all the damages.

Shad - Good for you for getting in your morning walk. I ended up sleeping till almost 9 this morning, therefore I have not been able to get in my exercise since I have so much work to do. I've cleaned the kitchen mess from last night, and started washing some clothes, and am now gonna tackle my room (which is a disaster right now!). For dinner last night we had Baked popcorn chicken (which was a low fat, low calorie, and low carb recipe), roasted red potatoes and corn. Then for dessert I made dark fudgy brownies from scratch (they were only 86 calories a piece, 3 g fat, and 15 g carbs). Everything turned out very, very good. I surprised myself lol, I never cook since I don't have my own kitchen. I only cook when my parents are out of town. The brownies were sooo good, so naturally I ended up having 2. Then I also had 2 this morning The rest are being saved for when my parents get home, that way the rest of them will be gone by the time I get home tonight

Melody - Yea it felt really good burning all those calories off yesterday, now I'm just hoping I'll finish my cleaning in time to be able to get some in today before heading to the BF's house. I guess being on here isn't helping me get anything done any faster lol.

Happy - It's supposed to start raining here sometime today, and not end till around Tuesday. The temperature here is perfect though! Hope you get a lot done.

Annie, Michelle, & Laura

So, already got the kitchen cleaned up. I have tons of clothes to finish washing and put away. I have to clean up the rest of the junk in my room. Then I have lesson planning to do for this coming week (thank goodness I already have their math taken care of, I just need to do Grammar, Spelling, and Social Studies). Then I have my own school work to take care of. Gonna be a very busy day!

Sounds like you have a busy day ahead of you. Hope you don't run out of steam. I did those same chores yesterday.

Mel
I know you like those men in blue.

Came to work this morning and low and behold I had to find a new way of getting on the internet. Had to run the connection from the other computer to my computer. I know why the extra user account had a pass word put on it but don't know what it is. I tried mine but no such luck. The boss should give it to me tomorrow unless he want's me to continue on my computer. I thought the other's were suppose to use their account. They may not know how to or afraid that the boss will find out what they are doing.
He set those up so they could start learning th paper work. He doesn't want any cheating. I'm still kinda curious as to why--He say's he wants to know where to start his class.

Hey everyone!

Shad - OMG you have a to-do list w/ 294 line items???!!! Yeh, I really want to see the dramatic landscape of the southwest. Never been to the Grand Canyon either...hence my desire to see more of the US.

Happy - Having traveled a lot for my job in the 90's, I'm very familiar w/ the short ride policy at the airports - and I was subject to that because I wasn't all that far from O'Hare when I lived in the Norwood Park neighborhood. That's probably where my taxi wariness (and weariness) comes from.

Annie - Good luck to Sam with the receptionist job. Is she going to give up the hair business?

Ceejay - Good job on the to-dos. That's a hefty bill for the eye doc! I'm sorry your insurance didn't cover more. Hope you're aunt is okay. Was the uncle who had back surgery involved in the car accident too? I hope neither have any lingering injuries after that. Horrible about the people not having insurance!!

Mel - We didn't do the adobo chicken on Friday, I did it yesterday morning and it's in the fridge marinating. We're having it for dinner tonight. This morning I got the lentl soup in the crock pot, so we have a backup plan in case we don't like it, lol. Maybe the pedaling is creating muscle and making you look leaner!!

Kasey - Sorry you overdid it on the enchiladas - I can understand that! But live and learn. Mmmm, brownies. I get that too! I like to bake, but don't do it too often because I'd end up keeping the stuff I really like around the house instead of bringing it to work for others to eat!

Hello to Michelle!

Nothing much to report, so I guess I'll just post and go watch the rest of the football game.

Morning all,

Well yesterday was a bit of a writeoff day since I went on strike and went for a drive instead. Headed for the hills and after 3 or 4 hours ended up on the Gold Coast but couldn't find my favourite shopping mall. Nice afternoon. I feel more refreshed and should do that more often.

The site 100% Pure New Zealand, which I subscribe to on facebook, had a clip this morning of Denzel Washington doing the Maori Haka with some of the Maori All Blacks. I don't know where it was taken, but it comes from You Tube and I found it hilarious. http://www.facebook.com/l.php?u=http...bFzd18&h=825b9 Theres the clip address if you want to have a bit of a giggle on a Sunday.

Of course, here it is Monday. Another week about to start. All the scabby bits are starting to itch and fall off - from the trip to the skin man 10 days ago. It seems he also managed to get rid of a couple of warts that appeared on my legs. Sorry if that is too much information.

Mel - Miss Efficiency. All that lovely food. Unfortunately with my addiction to food, I would eat the stuff in the fridge all in one day. Sorry you didn't lose any weight, but if you are exercising as well, maybe that is the clue. Face looks thinner??? Well can't say. I can't see it from here!

Kasey - Dinner sounded great. The brownies were only 86 cal??? Maybe that is a recipe you could share. Did it come out a diet site or book? or is it a Kasey invention?

Laura - the 294 items are things that must be done around the house at some point in time - they are the things that I keep tabs on to remind me of when I last did them (for example, bombing the house for bugs - needs to be done every three months or so. The tropics have plenty of bugs - big ones at that and while I don't mind spiders at all, I would prefer that they were outside to inside). The 294 items includes renovation projects as well as things I would like to see done, but probably won't live long enough.
My list of to-do's this week is only about 20 items long. Crikey, 294 items would require a toilet roll to put them all on.

DS2 is awake and no doubt will turn on the tv shortly to watch some of those dreadful sitcoms that drove me from the house yesterday. I keep telling him that he will end up as a sit com if he doesn't move it soon. It's either that or the Discovery channels. Don't know why he bothers to watch the Canadian fisherman and their Deadliest Catches because he is almost sea sick on the couch. Still I shouldn't complain because when he gets the inspiration another 10 or 12 foot of the Great Wall will appear just like magic. Which reminds me, I had better go sort out my arguments as to why I want it to have a rockfall over the tree root as opposed to taking a chunk out of a brick.

So, it's on with a new week. One good thing about being unemployed is that there is no Mondayitis. It's all one long glorious weekend. Have a magnificent Sunday - or what is left of it.

Good morning all,

Geez by the time I get up, brush my teeth and wash up, feed the cats, make coffee and do an odd pickup or two, what little morning time I have is gone, gone, gone. No wonder I am always running behind in the a.m.

Mel - I do have that picture and might have used it before - glad it gave you a smile this morning. Good thing you got out for a little sunshine. Hope the snows that hit Minnesota and Wisconsin on Saturday are not headed your way. I think the cold is here to stay now. Even we are about to get it. Sounds like we'll be eating good at your house after the last shopping trip

Shad - the drive sounds lovely. Seems like it's been a good long while since you travelled from home base there. Hope the DS2 got more of the wall worked on.

Laura - you have to get to the Grand Canyon - it's incredible. Since alot of the chicks want to settle the commune in Arizona, check out some properties while you're out there, will you?

Ceejay - sorry to hear about the aunt's accident. It's way too easy to spend too much at the grocery store. I did the same yesterday. Is it me or does it seem like produce prices have gotten ridiculous? I really had too much food in my basket - will have to plan carefully to use it all up.

Kasey - you had me curious so I looked up the popcorn chicken. Found one I think is similar to what you are talking about - didn't realize you could do that so healthy. Looks yummy - thanks for the idea! Would love to hear more about the lowfat brownies too. That sounds too good to be true!

Annie - that's great about your DD. With her working there I'm sure the place will seem less godforsaken - at least for a while. What's with the temp part tho' - is she filling in for someone?

Michelle - what did you do to yourself girl? Looks like from your post on FB that you might have overdone it? Do we have to strap you to the inversion machine? I know it's hard because you have things to get done around the house but PLEASE watch that delicate back of yours. Ok, lecture over

Gotta run now. to LindsB - hope we didn't lose you.

Happy Monday ladies -

Had a busy weekend. Spent all day Saturday doing website work until my brain and my back couldn't stand it any longer. Then DH and I went to the grocery store in the late afternoon. After unloading the groceries and eating dinner, I "hung around" for 5 minutes and that helped my back. I spent yesterday cooking make and freeze meals, and I helped DH in the yard. Then DH and I ran a couple errands, came home, and I fixed spaghetti, and then "hung around" some more. My back was really hurting from all the standing while cooking and the little bit of yard work. I "hung around" this morning before work, and I have PT/Traction at lunch.

Mel - So nice that you were able to do the shopping for you and Jen. Wish you could've done mine too. I've gotta tell ya' I am so glad that there are stores that have the motorized shopping carts that you can sit in, scoot around and put stuff in your basket. I didn't need them this weekend, but the last couple weekends, I wouldn't have been able to get around the stores without them. Maybe I could borrow one and you and I could do races! Good for you for getting all your cooking done. I love having heat and eat meals in the freezer. I'm so proud of you for telling the office not to bug you today and for putting the sign on your door! That's an adorable photo of the pilgrim cat and indian dog.

Annie - The Hella Bella cookie jar story was adorable! Thanks for sharing!! Sorry that the St. Louis trip had to be cancelled...but good for you for keeping your weekend to yourself. I hope your GD's foot heals quickly. Congrats to your DD for getting a job at your company.

Kasey - Congrats on the weight loss! Hope you enjoyed your quiet weekend. Good for you on the great workout on Saturday!

Laura - My dogs would be like Coal if given the opportunity to put their heads in a bag of treats. We haven't seen the bat in the basement since DH saw it the first night...so either he was mistaken and there was no bat, or it's just not coming out. I hope your foot is feeling better. The Grand Canyon is gorgeous! It's breathtakingly beautiful. I want to see more of the US as well. I rode in a taxi once in Chicago, and the guy was weaving in and out of traffic at 60 mph. I nearly lost my lunch right there in his cab! I was terrified and nauseous at the same time!

Happy - I find it much easier to do the exercise than to control the food...which is why I'm having such difficulty now that I can't exercise much at all. I'm so over this. I think you're right about the cold being here to stay. We didn't get "S" over the weekend, but it was so damp, windy and bitterly, bone chilling cold, it was still better to be indoors. Unfortunately, DH had lots to get done outdoors. I helped him when my back would allow, which unfortunately wasn't much. The sweetie said that I helped him "a lot" though. Awwww, he's just trying to make me feel not totally feeble or useless. The pain over the weekend came from A LOT of working at the computer on Saturday, and A LOT of standing yesterday. Luckily, the inversion machine takes the pain down from a 9 or 10 to a 5 or 6 or so. I've got a doc appointment tomorrow. I'll see what he suggests as a next step.

Shad - I did have brain overload from all the training last week, and on Friday I was notified that a couple of my projects which I hadn't really started on due to training, had their deadlines moved up to end of day today. I agree with you on the right to bear arms. If people want a gun for hunting, then that's their business...but there are many guns whose sole purpose is to injure or kill human beings. You're right though...it isn't about guns, it's about people, and if I was afraid of where I lived/worked, I'd sooner move to someplace where I felt safe than own a gun that could possibly be used against me. I didn't get to the gym for water aerobics. I'm hoping to go tonight after I get done with the lawn. I can either try the Water Aerobics class at 6 pm or do it on my own after class at 7:15. My PT is hoping I will try to do it on my own first, because since he knows how I am...he knows I will push myself to keep up with the class and last for the full hour even if my body is complaining loudly. What can I say? He's right. That's how I am. If I do go to the class....I will promise myself (and my PT) to listen to my body and only do what I can do. You're not alone, Ms. Shaddie, I am ALWAYS more in defense of animals than people. Actually, animals and children over adults. That's why I think what football player Michael Vick should've gotten more jail time for what he did, and why I'm STRONGLY OPPOSED to puppy mills, etc. I hope your :soapbox: is big enough for the both of us!

Ceejay - So sorry to hear about your aunt and uncle!! How awful that it was from an unlicensed, uninsured driver! I hope they are feeling better soon and are able to get some kind of settlement for the damages. Do they have another vehicle to use in the meantime? So nice that someone picked up the lunch tab for you! Sorry to hear about your cataracts. Wow! That was an expensive eye doctor visit. At my work, we have a standard plan, and a premium plan, which costs about $5 more per month. I purchased the premium plan for this year and my $550 glasses and eye visit only cost $100. Sorry to hear that your insurance didn't cover more. You walked 1.4 miles just shopping! So nice that you're seeing Fall color. Our leaves have nearly all fallen. Our front tree still has a few remaining, but the majority are down and I will mow/mulch them (probably in the dark) after work today. In the backyard, we have a lot of leaves that were windblown into piles along the fence, so in the next week or so DH will use the leaf blower to get them to the center of the yard and then we'll mow/mulch those.

Well, I'd best get some work done...Lots of deadlines to meet today.

Love and hugs to all,

Good Monday Morning My Worldie Sista's.....

First day for DD here at the office. Still don't know the results of the drug test yet, but hoping it is all ok, I will be embarrassed as h*ll if she doesn't pass. Nothing too awful bad but wacky tobacky, however that is enough to keep her out of this job. Fingers crossed. She assures me that she will pass. Ok enough on that.

Friday night went to dinner with my buddy Joe. There were several other peeps there that I knew too. I was home in bed by ten pm. Bohick called me Friday evening and wanted to know if I wanted to go to breakfast on Saturday morning. Sure why not, then had to make it really early cause CVS called and wanted me to come in at 9 am. Of course I went. Worked till 3 pm, took a nap then went to a local pub near the neighborhood I grew up in. Ended up being the most fun ever. It was a Hood Reunion. Meaning the neighborhood I grew up in and all the surrounding ones we all ran in plus the high school friends showed up. We had a ball. The band was very good the leader of the band was from the neighborhood also.

Yesterday I didn't do much of nuttin'. Made a homemade pizza, watched the Colts game then went to dad's for a couple of hours. Came home and was in be by 8:30. Zonked. Now I am getting ready to eat instant maple oatmeal for 140 calories. Just finished eatin string cheese. The oats are new to our area. Instant Oats by Aunt Jemima. Very good and quite tasty.

Mellie...good for you for putting the sign out and telling all to get lost. Mmmm, what a great way to start out the day...a visit by the boys in blue. Got the ole heart tickin' did it? Our weather has taken a turn for the cold also. 50 today but at least sunny. Had to wear my leather jacket today.

Shadlet...a long drive it probably just what you needed. You have been too busy with lists lately anyway. We have the Deadliest Catch show on here too. I actually watch it quite often. Hope the skin heals nicely. Yes I will stick with my list...no way could I come up with 294 items..maybe we could just swap item for item....lol

Chelle...how are you feeling after your weekend of LIGHT exercising? Get your web work done?

Laura...Sam is doing hair on the side at her house. She makes more money that way. What movies are on the agenda for this week?

Zoochick...sounds like yesteray was not a "Kasey" day, but a school and laundry day. I only had two loads of laundry this weekend and barely managed to get it done. I was running around way too much and yesterday I didn't do a whole lot but watch the football game and snooze off and on.

Ceejay....hope your Aunt and family are feeling better after the car wreck...the person that hit them was probably on the phone or texting, not paying attention or heck maybe fell asleep.....just crazy.

Happy...did you get all your cleaning and clearing done??

Hope everyone has a wonderful day!!

Much love and many hugs.

Happy and Chelle are the sneaker inners for me.....

Happy...you sound like me in the mornings. Try to do too much stuff, then have to take a major poo and it all throws me behind in getting off to work. I need to get up about an hour earlier, however I think I would still run behind. Now that DD is riding with me and I have to go pick her up, I am a little bit better getting out of the house on time.

Chelle....I guess you got some "hang time" over the weekend. lol, the yard work sounds like a bit too harsh for your back. I sometimes think you don't know how much you have pushed yourself till the pain sets in later. So knock it off. Have a fab day!!

Back on line this morning. The boss gave me the password. yipee.

Sounds like we are all busy back and back to work. Me included. This morning has flown by.

Annie
Sounds like you had a fun time this week end. I like instant oats and my favorite is maple and brown sugar.

hope the pt help with the back. And yes my uncle who had back surgery last year was driving the car. I've almost been hit in the same that same area. There is a hill to the west of their drivway and a curve from the east. It's dangerous anytime you.

Happy
I don't have time to get on the puter before work. Getting here by 6.45 a.m. is rough. I'm trying to break the habit of running to the computer once I get home. That's time I try to prepare for work the next day. Lst night I finally picked up the living room and ran the vacuum cleaner. I spent to much time cleaning the kitchen on Saturday. My counters are clean. woo hoo.

Shad
One of these day's I want to drive up to take a couple of trips similar to yours. One to the Illinois border and one to the Mississippi border. I'd love to go to the gulf. Those day trips are worth the drive to get your mind off of every thing else.

Mel
Keep your door locked and phone off the hook today. Are you watching some movies?

Kasey and Laura

More later.

Happy Monday everyone. Lunching at my desk today.

Shad – your long drive sounds kind of nice. Depending on where I’m driving, I don’t mind driving – if I’m by myself. Driving w/ bf is not pleasant – his major concern is making “good time” and pity the person who’s holding him up! I’m a bit envious of you, having had a case of Mondayitis this morning. But the fact that it’s payday and that the boss is in an all-day meeting have helped ease it, LOL.

Mel – I’m glad you’re not “on-call” today. Stay warm and cozy today. The chicken adobo turned out alright. Not spicy at all. In fact, the little bit of brown sugar in the marinade added a touch of sweetness. We did, however, wish that there was more sauce left after the marinade was cooked down. My foot is generally back to the way it was before I strained it last Tuesday. So there’s still pain. I have an appointment on Friday w/ the foot doc. I think the approach will be “can you make the orthotics the way I asked, or not? If not, I’ll see you before my vacation for a cortisone injection so I can hike and walk comfortably.” LOL the Indian and pilgrim photo!

Happy – Yeh, I can totally relate with the morning rush! This morning I was running late and forgot my cell phone, cold meds, and gloves at home! And to think I wasted some of that precious time making a chicken salad to bring to work for lunch. (It turned out rather bland.) I need to invest some time on the weekends and weekday evenings making lunches, etc. so I’m not running around like a nut in the AMs.

Michelle – Sorry you had to work so much over the weekend! I can sympathize w/ all the time spent standing in the kitchen loading/unloading the dishwasher, preparing meals, etc. – it all adds up, and the stress on the body (my foot, your back) is not welcome. I hate to think of you out in the dark mulching leaves! Bf has more flexibility with his work schedule, so if he doesn’t get the leaves taken care of this week I’m not going to be happy with him. Besides, he’ll use the blower (which I detest!). Glad you haven’t see the bat! But please take it easy – are you really going to do water aerobics after mulching the leaves??!!

Annie – Sounds like you had a very nice, very fun weekend. Now why did you give in and work at CVS on your weekend off?? At least your Sunday sounded relaxing. Yum, homemade pizza! I told bf I want to have a homemade pizza night sometime soon. My 1st and 2nd picks for the movie tomorrow night are Due Date and Secretariat.

Ceejay - Glad you're back online!

Hello to Kasey!

Nothing much to report. My weekend was rather dull and uneventful. Did one BE workout on Sat. morning. Otherwise, I did some cooking, laundry, watched the football game, watched tv (nothing good on though!), read a book, clipped coupons…zzzzz.
