Default Which brands of sugar free hard candies have you all tried?

I saw some from nutrasweet and then some made with splenda - I didn't buy any yet though.

thanks

I've only tried the kind with sorbital (sp?), which I do NOT recommend! (unless you're constipated)

Well, you can all jump on me BUT................I strongly feel that we all got into this fluffy state by eating stuff like candies and cookies and desserts. If you let yourself eat the so-called "free" ones, you stay in the sugar habit and will find it hard to resist the real thing. Also, sometimes just the taste of "sweet" can set off cravings.
That's my opinion and I'm sticking with it!

sigh. Yes, I agree with you, Ruth. I can't buy a small carton of sugar free/fat free ice cream without devouring the entire tub.

I do buy the stuff with sorbital in it. If it says no more than 3 pieces for a serving size, I definitly stick with that because who wants to spend all day on the potty? That's a pretty good deterent for me. All you have to do is make that mistake once and you've learned your lesson LOL.

I ususally only buy the sf chocolates around TOM because I just can't seem to get past that I do without the rest of the month.

I like the Cream Savers by Lifesavers in the chocolate and caramel flavor. I have one after my lunch. I can't tell you why I can hold myself off at one, I've never been able to do it before.

Default Ahoy to another North Carolinian!

Hi there Pinktulip

I'm so torn on SF candies.

But I will admit to being quite partial to the GoLightly brand, they are sweetened with Spenda and taste pretty much like real hard candies. They also make soft SF candies, but they are all laden with transfats. I've been able to find GoLightly in the grocery and drugstore, and there are also a ton of places to order them on line. They come in a pretty good variety of standard hard candy flavors.

The name is so unfortunate, because isn't "Go Lightly" also the name of that stuff they give you before colonoscopy procedures, and don't the sorbitol candies produce a similar effect? But never fear, I have had no intestinal problems with these.

On the one hand, I do agree with Ruth. Additionally, I'm trying to avoid eating too many artificial processed things that simply mimic other artificial processed foods, or worse. Which is why I'm trying to avoid all the super-low-carb-super-processed food that seems to be everywhere right now!!! We keep finding out that our "engineered to be better" foods rarely are.

But on the other hand, I like to have a piece or two of the hard candy in my bag- it really helps me stay on track and avoid the vending machines and candy bars on every street corner. Plus, I don't really like them enough to gorge on them. You know?

Hey Spamtravels I lived most of my life in NC, and am anxiously plotting my return! Gotta stay in the city to finish up my treatment and pay off those lawschool loans, but I can't wait to come "home"! Is the avatar of an NC beach? sigh. Where are you, if I can be so bold?

Anyway, nice to see everyone on this Beach!

Default Hey NC Lisa!

No, unfortunately our beach doesn’t look as good as the picture! I live in Southport, so I’m about 10 minutes from the beach. I love the area we live in and our community. We lived 4 years in Raleigh before moving down here two years ago. I love NC and can’t imagine going back to the Midwest (I grew up in Northern Illinois and lived in Chicago for 8 years).

I wish you the best with your plans and hope you can make it back down here as soon as you are able.

Default Sugarfree stuff

Yep, moderation with this stuff is hard for me. Last night, I binged on sugarfree coffee candies. My tongue is sore today I agree with you, Ruth, I did get into this state by having to have dessert and treating myself to McFlurries, Blizzards and frozen custards frequently. I need to rethink my eating habits. What do I want here? I need to get out of the habit of nightly sugarfree stuff. Maybe once a week or something. I'm on Phase II now so I'm thinking of doing baked apples or something. The dessert thing is a hard thing for me.

Another NC hopeful...as Connecticut is inundated by freezing rain and sleet! Blah. Southport is beautiful, I love to just walk through the streets and admire the architecture and the lovely gardens. I love taking the fairy over from Fort Fisher. I'm counting the days until I go back...go Tarheels!
