Default Puppy mill delivery (so sad!)

Yesterday, I went to the grocery store after work. Next door to the grocery store is a small local pet store. When I was leaving the grocery store, there was a truck (20-30 ft long) with a location of Kansas written on it (somecity, KS). I know a lot of puppy mills exist in KS as well as MO and other midwest states. Not that it is limited to those states. It was a closed truck so you couldn't see what was inside but it had a small opening which you could see cages inside and someone was inside passing puppies to someone who was standing outside the truck. It actually made me so sad to see that.

I know I like to stand up for the little guy and I like to shop at non chain stores but I will definitely only buy from Petco and PetSmart from now on because they support rescue dogs and they don't try to sell mass breeded pets. This was actually a decision I made a while back but the truck delivery really confirmed this feeling for me.

Yes, it’s really sad, but as long as people buy pet store puppies there will be people willing to breed them like a commercial item for profit. Now you can even buy puppies over the internet, so you have no idea what kind of horrendous operations are shipping out those dogs.

I’ve been a member at this site/forum for a few years www.nopuppymills.com, great group of folks committed to spreading awareness and stopping the cruelty.

There was a news story here about that because several of the dogs were brought to the small dog rescue group in Denver. So sad

There was a documentary on HBO this past spring about puppy mill dogs and fighter dogs and this animal rights activist infiltrated this guy's dog "farm" in attempts to bring it down. He actually was successful! And all the dogs were rescued by Petsmart and adopted out. I definitely gained a new respect for their mission after watching that. It takes so many people to do a big rescue like that.
