Where are my nursing mamas?
Surely I'm not the only one still lactating! :carrot:
How are all of you doing? How are your babes? How's the weight loss going? I've finally posted a bit of a loss. I weighed in about a week ago after my scale having been broken for I don't know how long and found I've managed to not only get back to my prepregnancy weight, but below it, and I've broken 180! I wish I knew how I'd done it, so I could keep doing it. I really thought I'd have gained, since I have been slacking off in the exercise department pretty badly. I guess maybe I was overstressing my body. We're coming off 42 straight days of rain locally. So the weather breaks Friday afternoon (though not before flooding most of O'ahu!) and it's been sunny since, so of course Sunday I tripped on the stairs and fell down about four of them. The bad part of that is I was carrying Esther. She's fine, though. I managed to twist the living heck out of my ankle, so I can't take advantage of the weather like I want to. The nursing's going good too. There's a lot more time in between feedings now. And I'm lucky that she's not got teeth yet, even though she's five months. She acts pretty interested in our food, but whenever I offer her solids she spits it back out. Maybe I'll get super-lucky & she'll be late on starting solids like Linda was. The longer it takes for my period to come back, the happier I am! Gratuitous Esther photo: http://67.18.219.83/image_hosting/we.../toy_small.jpg Yeah, I know she's wearing boys' clothes there. It's just that her sisters love lizards and that has a lizard on it; Rob let the 4-year-old pick her clothes that day. |
I'm here...always here, always lactating, too. Hahaha! Esther is so cute! What a happy healthy baby she is!

Well I started at 140 and got up to 202 with the pregnancy. I'm down to 152 now. I don't think the holdup has to do with breastfeeding, but with moving, having a car accident (just got it back out of the shop today - had the accident 3/10!!), just a conglomeration of headaches starting back in February. It's all finally starting to get on track and I've been trying to get back on the wagon with eating right. Didn't pan out today. Had a bowl of Cheerios and banana at 8 a.m. Because son threw up all over me and the bed (snotty nose and it makes him gag and throw up - taking Histex to dry him up), I had to go to the laundry. While there, insurance called and I had to return the rental and pick up my car. I ended up getting lunch at 3:30!! ::sigh:: So I just polished off a yogurt in lieu of a dinner tonight as late as it is, and since I had lunch so late. But none of that's helping the weight loss any.
Mikey's eating 3 meals a day. Usually 1 1/2 to 2 jars of food at a time. And he still breastfeeds...on demand. He usually breastfeeds once or twice a day and a few times at night. He's big as an ox. LOL 6 mo. old as of 4/3, and he weighs nearly 20 pounds and is over 27 inches long. Here's his latest with the Easter Bunny (sinister bunny's been cut out of the picture LOL): http://www.techtrek.com/Hold/JVMF/Ea...0(cropped).jpg |
I am here, but only posted once when I was deciding whether to wean my then 15 month old. I am happy to say that my little man is 20 months and still breastfeeding. I have lost only 20 pounds since having him. But I am building muscle b/c my clothes are too big!
Your children are adorable!!! carafre |
Milking mama here too, lol. Will type more later though.

I'm still here. I'm on my third course of antibiotics for the year, since I can't seem to stay healthy, down with a severe respiratory infection for 2 weeks this time. DD is more than 6 months old now, eating baby food & cereal (mixed with breast milk) like a horse (3-4 oz 3-4 times a day) and still nursing or taking expressed milk at daycare 6-8 times a day. And she is still just over 16 lbs. I am tired.
But I am 43 lbs down from the highest recorded weight in the great 60 lb pregnancy, so only 17 more to go. I imagine it will go a bit faster when I can stay healthy enough to exercise more than once a month. Anne |
AlmostHeaven~Your little one looks so happy!
carafre~Congratulations on 20 months! The longer the better. :D |
Hi! New here, but another milky mama. The babe is six months old now, and although I gained only 16lbs during the pregnancy, I gained another 35 after! Dieting isn't working so well for me. I'm always, always hungry, and so I constantly snack. Try to make it good snacks, but I've always had a sweet tooth. I also started Kung-Fu (martial arts - exercise) a couple months ago. Gained 10lbs, but slimmed down from a size 14 to a tight 10, so I'm not stopping. Does anyone else refuse to weigh until after they have fed their babe? LOL

I'm still nursing several times a day. We're doing about 1/3 formula, 2/3 breastfeeding or EBM in bottles. Truman's got a fever from his vaccines yesterday so he's been pretty much wanting to nurse and sleep and that's about it.
I am still 3lbs from my prepreg weight. All but those 3 came off really fast. These 3 have lingered. I want to get them off! Things keep coming up where I feel too stressed to focus on my own eating/exercising, but I know in my mind, that if I give myself some time and effort, I'll feel better and be better able to deal with everyone & everything else! :) My husband just lost his job a week ago. So that's been stressful. Trying to arrange for insurance and trying to get WIC and stuff. We were able to get Tru's shots from the health dept for free, that was great. Oh there he goes screaming again! :P |
I´m also nursing my little darling.

I'm here! I'm christina I have a DD that's a month old today. We are exclusively nursing...and I hope to be able to pump when I go back to work in a few weeks. I am just now getting started on loosing some weight....I am waiting to get some WW stuff in the mail
Hope to get to know everyone! |
Hello ladies,
Just got back from a long, 4 day weekend trip where DD went on an almost total nursing strike. Ouch! I had a small hand pump with me that saved the day, but even with that my milk supply is not what it was last week. Last week even before the trip and now again that we're home, she will only nurse first thing in the morning, and right before bed--basically when she is sleepy. She is 7 months old now, and taking baby food very well. So I guess I'm looking like a part-time nursing mommy now. I have mixed feelings. But I've done a lot of good for her, and I feel good about that, even though nursing never came naturally (or comfortably) to either of us from day one until now. And if she'll continue to nurse a couple times a day, she'll still get a lot of benefit. But truth be told, I feel about 10 times better than I did last week. I have more energy, can hold a conversation without zoning out, and the nagging colds I had have cleared up. And I am not going to miss that stupid pump!! My attitude and mood are a lot better too. Here's hoping the feelings of inadequacy pass soon. Anne |
I haven't been here in awhile but here I am still nursing my little man.
I gained a few lbs but I am back on track and losing again. My highest was 226 then I dropped to 206 and now I am back to 206 after gaining 5. |
nak as we speak!
Still nursing my 11mo ds! He is interested in eating and eats way more than his sister ever did as this age, but still only a tablespoon at the most :lol Only breastmilk otherwise :) I haven't lost any weight since he was born I don't think (I don't have a scale) but it's been a hard year dealing with some health issues and depression, etc. Hopefully now I am on the upswing and can get back on track. Hopefully! |
I love seeing other women who nurse a long time! :D Makes me feel not quite so strange.
Esther's still not showing much interest in food, though she's gnawed on a couple of things here and there, it's just teething and maybe tasting, not eating. She still pushes out anything I put in her mouth and then looks at me like I'm trying to kill her. I'm actually hoping she'll go a long time before starting solids, like my middle did. Breastmilk is so much easier to manage! One of my friends from high school (the twin of the lady I named Esther after, actually) had a baby this January, and she's breastfeeding too. :cp: It's always good to find gals IRL who are nursing. I know her sis nursed her daughter for about a year, so she's got good support. |
