yeah my dd gagged on anything until 11months old (I swear to you, I once aimed a carrot at her and she gagged! LOL) and even then almost totally nursed until close to 2 years. Of course she's and extremely picky eater to this day so I'm all stressed and while breastmilk is totally easier, I just want him to like food! :dizzy:

Lactivist here!!!! My DD will be 5 months in next Monday... Exclusively nursing and I am kinda crunchy and plan to let her nurse as long as she is interested...

I was BFed for 22 months and my younger sister for 26 months, so extended BFing is nothing new to me. I was 260ish when I went in the hospital to have our daughter, 230 when I left and am down to 210 as of this morning.

I'm 6'1 and have a large frame, so my goal weight is 175. If I still feel like I could lose from there, then I might try, but I really think I will be fairly lean @ that weight.

That is cool that you were nursed so long. The longest anyone around my age (I'm 26) was nursed was 10 months. I weaned my oldest a week before she turned three (couldn't take the idea of tandem nursing throughout a pregnancy, and it obviously didn't bother her because weaning consisted of me saying "No more choomp," and that was that), but I think the middle one is going to go a lot longer. She was 2 in January & she's still nursing as often as I'll let her; Bobbie was down to like 3 times a day by that age.

Hi,
My name is amanda. I am now nursing my second son. he is 3 months. he was a month and a half early but doing good now. My other one is 2 1/2 and eats like a horse. I nursed my first soem for a year and plan on doing the same with my new little guy. It really is the best thing for him and the easiest for me.

Amanda, did you have problems getting your littlest to nurse in the beginning? My Linda was a month early & we had a hard time to begin with. She was one of those who'd rather sleep than nurse.

My son was late, yet he also wanted to sleep rather than nurse. The lactation consultant did these baby situps trying to wake him up to get him to latch on. Had a lot of trouble getting him to latch on and worried it wasn't going to work. Now though, I can't keep him from it. He's an old pro. LOL

I'm still here too. :) But probably going to give up breastfeeding in a couple of months. I hate it so much. We still do it six times a day but only once a day is it enough to satisfy him - the other five times we have to follow up with 3 ounces or more of formula. I'm just not motivated to increase my supply, and last week I had to pump & dump for 48 hours after taking some medication and I was only getting 12 ounces each day, total. I know he gets more than the pump, but still, it's not a lot. I'll keep it up at least til he's well onto solids (and he's showing interest already, little porker). He was born 4 weeks early but is GIGANTIC, at least to me. :) Maybe boys are just bigger than girls, who knows.

My weight loss... heh. What a joke! I have actually managed to GAIN three pounds, putting me six pounds above my prepregnancy weight. Ridiculous, I know. But finally I have stopped worrying about dieting compromising my milk supply (or rather, being able to use that as an excuse).

I'm toying with the idea of trying to compete in a half-marathon in October. It's a community event, with a lot of people who walk/run or walk completely. Just to complete 13 miles would be insane to me at this point. But maybe it'd be a good motivator, too, and it's still 5 months off so I have time, if I start right now. I tried running last week. I was sore for three days afterwards and I only ran about 1/4 mile!

HoosierHeather, I just read an article today in American Baby about mothers giving up on breastfeeding because of obstacles. They talked about not letting the amount you pump discourage you, because as you said, he gets more than the pump does. They also mentioned not to let having to give him formula at times discourage you. That any breast milk he gets is better than none. And frankly, once he gets well into solids, you'll only be nursing at night and occasionally during the day at times.

It's a very good article. The issue is one I kept in the bottom of the stroller to read while out at lunch. If you're interested in hearing anymore on it, I can get it out of the car and get some more info from it for you. They did say to make sure and talk with a lactation consultant, consult friends who breastfed, and to get in a support group. They stated that women, with husbands who were coached in breastfeeding ahead of time and who felt good about it, had a higher percentage who stuck with it past the usual 12 week mark.

My babe Aidan is 14 weeks and he's an exclusive booby baby. It does get maddening when *all* he wants to do is nurse, but I'm glad I can do it and I wouldn't have it any other way. And the benefits to diet are a major score!

Today's been one of those days, let me tell ya. It seems Daddy can't make him happy so he cries and cries. I don't have to deal with him crying during my *shift* cause I just pop him on the boob and its all better, so I imagine its pretty frustrating for Daddy. I mean I have to listen to it so I know its frustrating. Sooner or later they all come to Mommy to make it better.

Hah-hah Waterchiklet, we call it "the magic boo" around here!

And Almost Heaven, I think I'll just follow along behind you & nod.

Mikey has always made this sound like an owl "Hoooo". So we call him Hoo Hoo, and call it "Hoo Hoo Juice". LOL

Join the club. Mike's been teething since Dec. At his 6 month checkup, doc said he had a "whole bunch" of them coming through. That was a month and half ago. Sheesh!

Hi. I'm new here. My DD is 16 weeks old. She takes breastmilk for now and around 6 months I will introduce solids and go from there. I'm only 1 lb away from my prepregnancy weight and I'm feeling great. Having a little trouble getting all my fruits/veggies in, but things are going well. :)
