I found a deck of prenatal yoga cards at Barnes & Noble over the weekend. That ought to be something I can do easily enough, maybe even teach the girls some of the simpler asanas. I was so happy to find it; too bad they didn't have it earlier in my pregnancy! You know, we really ought to get a thread going about exercise goals...

I'm happy to report that I'm back from the Y and I did it! Woohoo. First time in about six weeks I've been beyond the pool there. All I did was walk on the treadmill about 20 minutes (not very fast, like 3 mph) and did two of the thigh machines (outer & inner, not the pushing ones). I nearly fell asleep on the treadmill. Not physically tired, but just sleepy still. I'm glad I went. It's kind of weird, to be exercising purely for the physical fitness benefit, without any care about weight loss. Kind of nice though.

I still manage to do between 30 and 45 minutes of exercise a day, at least 5 days a week and sometimes 6. I was still trying to jog (slowly) up until about the 4th month, but it was just too much on the bladder and I had to relegate myself to a fast walk. Even without the weight loss aspect, it still gets my heart going and wakes me up. And by continuing it, it will be easier to keep going afterward...not like having to start after being out of the mode for a long period of time. I've had several gals at Curves comment on my being the first pregnant woman they've seen doing Curves. LOL Don't know why though. Exercise is good for mom and the baby. My doctor recommends it...especially if you're used to exercising beforehand. It was harder for me to tone it down and learn that I just can't do what I used to do though. But less than 2 months to go and I still get in at least either 30 minutes of WATP, 2 mile walks, or Curves regularly.

good for you almostheaven! it will really help you to recover from childbirth i think. with my last pregnancy, i was on bed rest for the last six weeks of it, and recovering from a normal vaginal delivery felt to me like recovering from having run a marathon AND had major surgery in the same day... i was a wreck for at least a month afterwards. i hope it doesn't happen this time, and i can stay active as long as possible.

i gained back 1 of the 5 pounds i'd lost in the first few weeks, but at this point, i don' need to be gaining weight. i'm not going to obsess about it, but for me personally, if i don't keep a close eye on it, it can really get out of control. now that i feel i'm over the morning sickness, i need to get rid of the "eat anything as long as it sounds good" mentality of a few weeks ago!

I gave up trying to keep a close eye on it. I've gained over 40 pounds. I have put a little on through the thighs and hips, but so much of it is in the belly that it's hard on my back (which was already a problem before pregnancy). I just keep up my exercise and eating the right stuff. But I do cheat more these days as cravings are harder to resist, and I of course "eat" more these days. LOL But keeping with it will help me stay with it afterward. So whatever I do gain will come back off quickly enough.

I'm all for that!

To me, I have to have distinct goals to workout and eat clean (lose inches, build muscle, beat strength records for myself) - usually changing the appearance of my body motivates me. Unfortunately, pregnancy is not a distinct enough goal to get me working out consistently. I believe that I am fit enough to give birth, and I know that I will pick up the motivation to workout and eat clean after the birth.

What I need is a different kind of challenge to get me going right now. Maybe if we have a thread to commit ourselves to exercise and eating goals, I would be motivated to try harder...because then I would be held accountable to others...
