Default Newbie extended Bfing momma

Hello everyone!

I am new to the site and wanted to introduce myself. My name is Skyla. I am 23 and I am a Pagan AP SAHM to 4 beautiful children. I am still nursing my 17 month old on demand and no signs of weaning anytime soon.

I started at 226 and I am now at 219.
I have already lost 7 lbs just by watching what I eat. I am going to start exercising tomorrow. My goal is to have lost all the weight I have to by Dec. 25th. Why Dec 25th you ask? Well I started on June 26th and wanted to give myself six months.

Hope to meet lost of new nursing weight loss mommies!

Welcome PaganSkyy!

you've found a great place to share your troubles of weight and your joys of motherhood!
Call me blonde... but what is a pagan?
Do you plan to have more kids? I don't! We never planned on this second child! I would say he is a joy.. and 99.99% of the time he is.. but tonight.. this is his 3rd time getting up and it's only 1:23am! yikes.

Anyhow.. I'm getting loopy now Welcome

PaganSkyy, Wiccan or independent, if you don't mind my asking? Or something else altogether?

Charbar, Pagan is a general term that is usually used for Earth-based religions like Wicca but can also encompass stuff like Native traditions. Basically, not Judaism, Christianity, or one of the other "biggies."

I'm AP too, but Christian (Episcopalian, so I'm certified Pagan-friendly ). I think there are a few of us here...And I EN as well, 3 years with #1, 16+ months with #2 & I'll be tandeming again when #3 arrives. I also SAH & will be homeschooling once the oldest is a little better able to sit still. I like the "milk bar".

Congrats on the weight loss. You should do well once you add in exercise. Er, not that you aren't doing well now, which you are. But I'm most fond of exercising. I've found that so long as I'm physically fit I don't care too much what the scale tells me. But I'm odd like that.

Charbar,
No more children for us. I had my tubes tied after the fourth. I regret it now though. 2 more would have been wonderful. GreatBigMonsterMomma nailed Pagan on the head. Thanks for the welcome!

GreatBigMonsterMomma,
I am a bit Ecclectic a little of this and a little of that but leaning more towards Wiccan. We are raising the kids more into the Wiccan path. It is great to see Pagan friendly people around! I have been on other sites that didn't like me because I am Pagan. Thank you for the welcome!

barbygirl43,
Thanks for the warm welcome!

You know, if we could afford it, I think I'd have one about every two years til I hit menopause. But that comes awful late in my family. Let's see, I'll have this one at 26, let's say every two years until 48...that'd be 23 kids. Hmm, maybe not. We'd need two vans for that many!

Default Yay for EN

I nursed my oldest daughter for 18 months, at which time, she self weaned, my 17 month old is still nursing 6-9 times a day, and doesn't show any sign of weaning.

I lost about 50 lbs on WW, but put some of it back on, and just yesterday started South Beach Diet.

I'm grabbing support whereever I can at this point

I admire women who can handle more than 2 children! I think 2 will be my maximum - one for each arm

I'm new at this baby-thing. Is it harder to lose weight when you breastfeed? I heard that BF'ing actually burns more calories but then your body still wants more food - are you hungrier than when you were pregnant? Sorry for all of the questions...

It all depends on the woman, TBH. When I've got an active nursling, I lose weight at about 1600 - 1800 calories a day. Even when I am careless, nursing seems to keep me from gaining. I'll at least break even. But your body does tend to want to hang on to a little bit of body fat to make sure you can still produce milk. It can be frustrating when you get to the end of what you need to lose; I've had lots of people tell me they can't get rid of those last 10 pounds til they're done nursing.

Thanks - if I know what's coming, I won't be as frustrated when I try to lose the weight
