working out post c-section

  • anyone else in this same boat?
i had my c-section a month ago today and my doc has cleared me for moderate exercise (i've just been walking though)
i want to do more, i really want to work out, but it just hurts too much still.
this is my second c-section and i don't remember when i started working out more intensely after my first, but i'm ready to go NOW! i just wish my body would feel the same way!
  • I joined curves after I had my C Section, it was perfect because I could go as hard as I felt comfortable
  • Do you swim? I had a c-section 6 years ago and swimming was a very comfortable way for me to work out. I used a pull-bouy most of the time (one of those peanut-shaped floaty things that you put between your thighs) so I was only using my arms, then I would throw in a lap or two with the kick board to work on re-strengthening my abs.

    Curves was also a blessing.
  • Is belly banding or those medical ab support belts appropriate for you? I didn't know about it til years after my c-sect but I often wondered if that would have helped the healing -- some extra ab support.

    A.
  • make sure you listen to your body. Post-partum + c-section is going to take some time to heal up. Take it easy and pay attention to your body's que's if it's getting tired, or needs a break. What you've just gone through isn't easy!
