Learned my lesson.
Yesterday I had a massive craving for something sweet. We have this jar of M&Ms....sorry to say they're old but heck I wanted them. LOL I got about a 1/2 cup of them (it had a scoop and I knew I used two which equalled 1/2 a cup) and didn't even want to check the calories before eating them. Well before dinner, decided to do my calories for the day to make sure I was okay to add some stuff to my dinner.
When I went to calorieking.com to check on the calories for my M&Ms snack, I was blown away and had to check twice because it seemed unreal. 580 calories. That was more then my dinner!!!
I quickly dumped the remaining M&Ms in the trash, I don't need that kind of temptation.

Morning sickness is worse... yuck. I am sick and puking whenever I'm not sleeping.

The good news is that we got to see the bean yesterday and hear the little heartbeat... very cool!

Just curious, for any of you counting calories right now, what is your daily caloric intake? I'm trying to stay between 2000-2200, but some days are higher. I've been pretty good at drinking 64 oz of water (mostly flavored, but I still count it!). I'm just wondering what other pregnant women are doing with their diets.

Had my weekly appt yesterday and am 3cm and about 80%. My midwife said the baby is low and my water bag is bulgy. She said it could be 4 hours, 4 days or 2 weeks. I feel like I have been pregnant forever. I am just tired and hoping little one will be here soon.

Gale
- hopefully your morning sickness will pass soon. I had it until about 14 weeks with the last two babies and it was brutal. I am so glad you got to hear the h/b - isn't that the most beautiful sound.

Well, I found out last night I'm pregnant. Ironically enough, I had just received my package containing several pregnancy and ovulation tests as we were preparing for a long battle TTC baby number two.

Since I was super tired and had nausea all weekend I decided to do the pregnancy test strip first, immediately showed pregnant. I thought I was a dope and did it wrong so I used another... same thing. Sent hubby to the pharmacy to get a regular test I had used before and sure enough it said pregnant too. :D So after three tests I can really say I'm pregnant much sooner than I thought I'd be.

It's all still working its way through my brain and hasn't set in yet. :dizzy:

Congrats.

so far not too much is new here. I have finally started exercising once again and that has really helped with the munchies that I have been having the last couple of weeks. I also know that I gained 5 lbs in the last week too. I am hoping that I can get rid of some of them before my next appt on the 3rd.

hey ladies! i am so excited, finally feeling human again...i went to the walk in last night because i couldn't stand the nausea and throwing up anymore and they gave me a prescription for diclectin. i feel like a brand new woman! nausea almost completey gone, as long as i keep some food in my stomach.

anyone else taking diclectin? i believe it is only available in canada...

TXJess - congrats! what a nice surprise!

Gale - i'm with you on the sickness...yuck! and i'm so jealous you got to hear the heartbeat already! how exciting!

lovinlife - hope everything goes smooth (and soon!) for you!

aangel - right now, being so sick, i am just eating whatever i can stomach and trying my hardest to get a variety of things in...i am having a TERRIBLE time getting my veggies, but fruit and milk are once again appealing now that i am on diclectin. oh, and i weigh myself every morning, just to see where i'm at.

mom4life - i guess it was easier to throw them away if they were old...an indulgence every now and then isn't so bad! don't beat yourself up!

mrsaugie - good for you for starting exercising! i need to get on that...i bought a pregnancy workout dvd, but it's still in the wrapper...

Congrats, TXJess! :)

I don't know how other states or countries are doing right now with stomach bugs going around, but we have an awful one going around in central PA. My older son got it Saturday, I had a touch of it Saturday and Sunday, DH got it Sunday, and my younger son got hit Sunday night and Monday. Then it decided to come back for me last night. It was absolutely horrible. I was up every hour and I just could not get any decent sleep. I feel so weak and tired right now and just sipping at flat ginger ale. I'm actually afraid to eat because I'm not sure I can keep it down and I really hate vomiting. :(

mom4life 01-27-2010 03:24 PM

I'm sorry aangel22. ((hugs)) I hate throwing up too. So far it hasn't hit our family but it has been going around here.
I've been getting so many cravings, thankfully they require a drive somewhere. I'm not willing to drive out in the cold with my kids just for a craving. No it's not willpower it's called laziness....LOL

Gale02 01-28-2010 05:51 PM

LOL LovinLife, I'm pretty sure you have been pregnant forever! ;) Just kidding, just kidding! It'll all be over before you know it and then you'll have another gorgeous baby to hold and love!

aangel22 01-28-2010 08:37 PM

Feeling much better today! I barely got in 1200 calories, let alone 2000 yesterday. I felt horrible and basically ate crackers all day. DH made me some perogies and baked chicken tenders for dinner last night, which I ate most of (3 perogies and 2 chicken tenders). It still didn't make up what I lacked in calories for the day. I felt so bad for my poor baby! He kept on kicking me though so I'm pretty sure he was doing fine, although being kicked in the stomach when you are experiencing that much pain is not comfortable at all!

My intake is quite high, 2500-2600 per day, because I still do 1-2 hours of weightlifting/cardio/hiking each day. I'm small, 5'5 and now 138lbs at 22 weeks, but I'm right on track with my weight gain (actually 1lb over :o)

Hello ladies, I'm happy to join you here!

I'm smack dab in the middle of losing about 100 pounds, and a little worried about weight gain during this pregnancy. This is baby #3 for me, and my previous two pregnancies only saw me gaining about 8 pounds overall, right at the end. Both my daughters were good sized and healthy, at 8 lbs 15 oz and 8 lbs 4 oz respectively, so losing when pregnant did not harm them.

Thing is - I weigh less now. I lost weight intuitively with the girls - I just wasn't hungry and ate well. Now that I am food journaling and counting calories I have NO idea what is a safe amount during pregnancy. I was thinking of aiming for around 2000 daily (which should give me about a .75-1 pound deficit weekly), but I am not sure if that is enough calories, too many, what have you.

I would discuss it with my midwives but they are vehementy against any weight loss during pregnancy, even though I know it can be done in a healthy manner (I'm proof!). Any input on the subject would be very helpful :)

I finally get to join you ladies!

I just got my blood test results back and at 14dpo my hcg levels are 194. Hurray! I knew there was a reason I was craving hamburgers. Until last week I hadn't had one in 3 years.

This has been a 2+ year journey for DH and I, so I'm definitely bouncy!

I'm about 10lbs heavier than my ideal weight, but I'll worry about that after the baby arrives. I'm going to try not to gain more than the recommended amount, but I haven't decided if I'm going to still count calories.

I'm counting calories and watching my carbs as well. Just making sure I don't have so many in a day. I'm doing close to 2000 (1900) and exercising once a day or every other day. But even with my efforts I'm still gaining. I'm tracking everything using my "Lose It" app on my phone.
