Default Preggo with baby #1 - clueless here...

It's official, I am 7 weeks pregnant! DH and I only 'tried' once and were a bit surprised at how quickly it happened. We are so happy though! Issue now is I am clueless...

For the past 2 weeks I have been so sick to my stomach that my eating habits have dwindled to only a e few staple foods that I can keep down - ice cream, yogurt, some soups, apple juice and ginger ale. Like most women, I am worried about weight gain and worried that my baby isn't getting enough nutrition. Does anyone have advice for how I might manage this nausea better and/or foods that are gentle on a queasy stomach but have some nutritional value?

Also, where do you find that cute baby signature that shows what month you are? Love it!

Congratulations! The good news is that you don't really have to know what you're doing. Your body knows how to grow a baby, you get to go along for the ride! You probably know that exercise is really important while you're pg, it will make labor and delivery easier and cause you to not gain as much weight.

At this point, keep down what you can... the baby will get what it needs. It is important to take your prenatals if you can. If you can't (mine made me sick), 2 Flinstones chewable vitamins have the exact same ingredients as most prenatals except for the high calcium. A calcium supplement will work for that.

The morning sickness will likely pass by week 14 and then you can worry more about nutrition.

Enjoy this time; it just flies by and is so precious!

Congrats! I gave birth to my had my baby girl Tabitha last Decemeber... it's an amazing experience. Now i wonder what i did before i had her! I suffered really badly with morning sickness and found the best way for me to ease it was to eat a peice of dry toast or a dry biscuit before getting out of bed in the morning. I also attended aqua-natal classes while pregnant... very easy going but effective. good luck with everything!

oh and try lilypie.com for a ticker! xx

I forgot about eating before you get out of bed - it was also very helpful for me to have a few crackers before I got up in the morning.

Thanks, ladies! I will have to see about taking the Flinstones vitamins as I haven't been keeping my prenatal down enough.

It's so wonderful to know I am not the only one who has gone or is going through this. Exciting, stressful, anxious and wonderful times! I really hope this morning sickness will pass soon. Thanks for the tip about 14 weeks! I hope I can be so lucky!!
