Hey Sommer! I just wanted to say hello...I am also a homeschooling SAHM of 4 with a little one that is 11 weeks old. My little one is also the best sleeper I've had by far (he goes down about 9pm and sleeps til around 4am). Anyhow, just wanted to say hello.

My daughter turned one yesterday...and we're having her party tomorrow. I have a BIG cake in my fridge. My plan is to have some, but send big chunks of it home with everyone. We'll see. I also have lunch dates w/ some ladies from work 2 days next week (my last week off before work resumes). I think I can manage both those dates, but that's a lot of temptation for the next 3 days.
Then work resumes and the first 2 weeks lunch is off campus...so that'll be hard too. But I'm going to BE STRONG! My inlaws are visiting for Thanksgiving and I do NOT want them to see me FAT! lol |
I went for a walk today. Not very long, but I got out a little late and it was already starting to heat up. Ahhhh... life in the desert. You can't walk past 7:30 am or you'll boil to death.

Way to go Gale! I'm a wuss and can't handle PA summers... I would die in the desert!
Saikin, stay away from the cake :) Cake is one of my BIGGEST weaknesses! As for me, we had an absolutely crazy weekend. My brother and his family were here, well not here but about 2 hours from here.. the closest he has been to our area in 6 years! So even though we had decided we couldn't afford it, we decided last minute to go to where he was for dinner! It is crazy trying to get 4 kids loaded into the truck with enough supplies to hold them over for that long of a ride on a moments notice (we had about 15 minutes to get out the door in order to make it there by 5 when we decided to go!) It was great to see him again, but I ate more than I should have... tried to be wise and ate chicken breast but it was smothered in cheese and bacon and who knows what else..lol. We didn't leave there till 1am so we had to make a stop for some sugar to get hubby and I home, I ended up drinking a quart of chocolate milk and eating a cream filled donut! Well I learned that sugar to me is like crack to a druggie! I woke up Sunday morning and the first thing I thought of was wanting another donut and being pissed that I couldn't have one! I'm all back on track, and did my exercises this morning so all is good and well now. |
Can I join? I nurse exclusively and I just had a baby about 4 weeks ago and am so ready to start getting back into shape. So far DH and I just go for walks at nighttime with our two boys, and I've been careful about what I eat (fell off the wagon a couple times) since DS2 was born. I'm starting at 175 with an eventual goal of about 120-125.

Of course you can join! Welcome, Kyla!

I'm thinking of dropping my calories to 1600 just to see what happens... I had issues w/ supply when I dropped calories, but since I've been off work and able to nurse nurse I'm doing well at 1800. My supply is doing well...I haven't lost anything in a couple of weeks.
My fear is that going back to work and dropping cals is a bad idea right now bc I'll be only pumping 1x a day at work (vs 3x a day during last school year). We'll see... I won't go any lower than that til she's fully weaned. We'll see how my experiment goes. I put a calorie counting app on my phone so I can stop carrying around a mental tally or a post it note. hee hee. |
Gale- I have a friend who lives in AZ w/a 2 month old and is having the same problem with walking! I complain about the rain here but I think I need to realize I have it good.
I did not do so well the last 3 days but I woke up this morning determined to do better. I ate a good breakfast. I have more fun now because my daughter just started eating solids and she loves sharing a banana in the am. I also dug out my old Jillian Michaels dvd (which kicks my butt everytime) and did a 30 min workout. I feel much better already and am going to try and get out this afternoon. I have a trip to see family and show off the baby in about a month and would like to at least fit into my jeans by then... I hope everyone else is having a great week and good luck fighting the temptations! |
Mortonpixie, forgot to respond to you. I'm so happy to have another homeschooler here. I have bumped into another one on the 100# club as well. It's even better to have another homeschooler with a new baby who is trying to lose weight!!!
Welcome Kayla!! I already miss the 4 week old stage! Saikin, I rarely eat 1800 cals now that I'm counting them. Before I am sure I was eating 3,000 on most days because the junk food calls my name constantly and I would give in to it without thinking twice. My milk is doing fine, but then I am home all the time and nurse on demand. Little guy has been eating about every 3 hours during the day and sleeps about 10-11 hours at night (yes I know I'm lucky!! I have never had one who slept like this!!!) I have been trying to pump at least one bottle a day.. I can get an 8oz bottle out of a side in just a few minutes, so I have plenty of milk going on. We splurged last night and had pizza. Another food that is like crack to me! I had to force myself (even though I was full) to stop at 3 slices. We went to a local shop that a friend of hubby's owns and had him make us a "diet" pizza.. he got the crust as thin as possible and skimped on the cheese then loaded it with peppers and onions and threw on a few mushrooms for show. It was really good!! I have to confess, I haven't been exercising this week. I just can't seem to stay awake in the morning when hubby goes to work, so I end up crawling back in bed till the kids start waking up.. then the opportunity is gone. |
Way to go Linds.. send some of that exercise ambition my way!!
|
I played beach volleyball last night... seriously kicked my butt! My quads are so sore today. I had a really good time though. I used to play (indoor) volleyball 2-3 times per week until I had Caleb and now I haven't played since May. I think I'm going to start going back at least once per week. I've been bouncing back and forth in the same 5 lbs for months now. I'm currently at the upper end of those 5 lbs, unfortunately. If I'd start counting my calories I'm sure it would stop... bottom line is that I'm just being lazy. :(

I've been going off maybe 1500-1600 cals a day for about a week now and it hasn't affected my supply at all, if fact, it seems as if I am making too much for him. But it was that way with my first too, but I was also eating a LOT more with him. All I've been doing for exercise the last couple days is bouncing around the house to some music with my toddler, which really gets my heart pumping if I keep it up long enough.
Linds- I live in CO too and this weather just sucks butt. I was so ready for a walk yesterday and it started raining (not to mention DH took the baby sling to work with him on accident) so I didn't go, and today it's just plain freezing, I may still go later after dinner with DH like we usually do. Hopefully these clouds clear up. |
Okey dokey, back on the counting wagon today. I'm going to start at 1800-1900 and go from there. I lost really well on 1600 the last time I was at this weight, so I figured I'd add in a little for bfing and see how it goes. *sigh* I suppose it's time to grow up and be a responsible adult, making good choices and taking steps toward what's best for me. Life is rough.

Gale, if I don't count, I put ANYTHING in my mouth! It's horrible!
Hubby just took all the older kids to his mom's for a few hours, and the baby is happily playing on the floor.. so I'm going to go sew. I have a dozen diapers cut for him that he is going to outgrow really soon if I don't get them sewn. Then I need to cut the fabrics I bought for his next size up. I also need to get some covers made.. I have a knit one on the needles, but he is down to 2 that fit so I need to get on the ball. |
Day 2 of 1600 cals! I'm drinking lots of powerade zero (read that gatorade type drinks help supply).
Good luck Gale!!! Findingfawn--I know what you mean about staying awake to exercise. I run after my daughter goes to bed. Many nights during my vacation I woke up at 11pm or midnight and JUMPED up panicking bc I fell asleep and didn't exercise. So I have been exercising at all sorts of wacky hours (because I DID get up and do it--even at midnight). Now that work starts back up tomorrow....that's going to be harder. Kyla--glad the calorie range is working for you! Hooray! Linds--Jillian Michaels does kick butt. I have the 30 day shred but I'd rather RUN on a treadmill than do her workout. That's pretty bad. lol |
