I'm also having nursing bra issues because I hate regular bras. I have worn sports bras forever. Try and find a nursing sport bra! Apparently they make them but I'm gonna have to order one over the internet. I take a B cup so hopefully it won't be too hard to find, I'll probably order a C just in case though I don't remember with my first that my breasts really got all that much bigger. Of course that was like 7 years ago and it is probably different every time especially if I get to breast feed rather than just pumping this time. Have to go to see my dr this afternoon because of my blood pressure and also the baby has not been kicking as much so I'm a bit worried about that.

Hey, folks! Quick check in here so I can get to bed! My, have I had a hard time sleeping the last few nights. When I finally get there, I wake up with such a full bladder that I am almost cramping and my entire side is numb. Even the ear I was laying on! Yikes!

Lisa- Congratulations on your little one! He looks so alert!! Hangin in there breastfeeding. I always found if I could down a glass of water before starting it was kinda like "priming the pump". I am sure you also weren't prepared for the soreness either. Some how I dont' remember it getting any better with each kid. I mean, it does after the first week if you are sore but I still had to start over with each one and get through that first 10 period again. Keep up the good work. Don't stress too much about it. It will all fall into place.

Where can you go to get measured for a nursing bra? Motherhood? will they do it. I have gained so much that none of my bras are fitting. My nursing bras were 38C and that was with my milk in! Currently, I am in a good fitting 40D, and I am not sure where to go from there... :) I am just 31 weeks and am not sure if this is because it is a girl baby or what??

Getting ready to send my older 2 boys off to school right after labor day so trying my best to get them settled in a routine before I pick up the pace with getting the house and room ready for baby! It is so hard not to blow so much money on layette! Everything is so cute!!:queen:

Thought I'd just pop in and say hello. :) Just recently found out I'm a little over a month pregnant and expecting around April of next year:bb:

Lifeguard 08-14-2008 02:12 PM

Congrats & Welcome Pixiefalls!!!

I just got back from the OB. Baby is looking good, weight is normal, size of everything looks good & he's head down - woohoo. I was really kind of convinced he wasn't 'cause I feel most of the movement in my lower regions & figured that must be his feet. Guess he uses his head as a battering ram.

But, I failed the 1-hr GD screening test miserably. I have to go Saturday (everything's closed here tomorrow for Costa Rican Mother's Day) to do the 3-hr test & then everything's going to be a big rush as I leave for home on Wednesday. What a PIA! I'm SO upset about this. Plus DH left yesterday for home & our phone is not working (again) so I feel pretty alone with all this.

Welcome pixiefalls!

Lifeguard - sorry to hear about the GD test. Hopefully it will just be a matter of watching your diet and maybe some oral meds. That's all I've had to do and it hasn't been a big deal.

Not much new with me, just counting the days until my planned c-section (11). My blood pressure has been creeping up but I've had bloodwork and another ultrasound and everything is fine with the baby. I think it is just all the fluid I am retaining because I am so swollen everywhere except I think my upper body, oh my hands are swollen and numbish half the time which gets very annoying. Definately looking forward to losing all this extra fluid afterwards!

Lifeguard 08-15-2008 01:54 PM

11 days - that is so exciting. A long time though when you're uncomfortable - lol!

I am hoping that I got a falsely high result because of some of the things going on with me at the time. I was really sick, hadn't been eating or sleeping much & have been a little more stressed then usual lately. I didn't know these things could affect blood sugar. Anyway, today I focus on having a good, healthy day & then do the 3 hour tomorrow & hopefully I can manage to pass it or at least not totally bomb it.

Hi all....

I know they say that some of the tiredness goes away after your first trimester, but I am a little over 16 weeks and still so very exhausted. I feel like all I want to do is rest. I don't remember being this tired with my first two, but it has been 8 years since my last one and I ain't no youngin anymore.

Pixie - congrats on your exciting news!

Lisa - baby Henry is perfect, such a handsome boy...I can't wait until mine gets here. Great job not giving up with the breast feeding. I nursed both my kids for 10 months and you are doing a great thing for you and him. I had flat nipples and it was hard for them to latch on at first, but they learn very quickly that is where their food comes from and it is an amazing and natural thing for them to just know what to do.

Lifegaurd - good luck on your GD test. I failed my 1 hour with my daughter and had to do the 3 hour and it came out just fine...I will keep my fingers crossed for you and I hope you get to feeling better.

I am off to rest again...everyone have a great weekend!

Gale02 08-16-2008 02:22 AM

Welcome pixiefalls and many congratulations on your pregnancy!

Lifeguard - I hope all goes well with your 3 hour GD test, and that the 1 hour was just a fluke. I know that stress and lack of sleep can do some really bizarre things to our bodies.

Lisa - I'm glad to hear that the nursing is going well, I'm so happy for you and Henry and honestly... it gives me hope. To be frank, I'm way more afraid of nursing than I am of giving birth. I really don't want to screw it up.

Jen - How awesome to be so close! Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers as the big day draws near.

Lovinlife - I have been pretty tired through my pregnancy, too. As of tomorrow I'll be in my 3rd trimester and I'm still taking naps 4-6 days per week. I think it's just different for everyone, fortunately or unfortunately there's no one point where we all become the same in our experiences.

My Dr. called with my GD test results today and I passed - sigh of relief. She also told me that she knows I'm worried about my weight gain (actually, she said "What woman isn't??") and really not to worry that I'm in a completely healthy range - another sigh of relief. As of my last appointment, 24 weeks, I've gained 12 lbs. It means I'm obviously going to go over my secret wish of 15 lbs, but I should stay under 30 lbs. DH and I have stopped eating out, mostly for financial reasons but partly because of my addiction to fried food. I never fry anything at home, so that will cut down drastically the number of calories I'm consuming, hopefully helping the weight even more. Although the truckload of chocolate I ate tonight probably didn't. :o

It seems that my nesting instinct has finally kicked in. A little late, maybe, but it's here nonetheless. I've been cleaning out and organizing cupboards and closets like crazy, just HAVING to get it done. I should buy stock in Rubbermaid for all of the bins and containers I've purchased recently. I also spent nearly an hour with a pumice stone cleaning my toilet the other day. That's really unusual for me - I HATE cleaning the bathroom and it doesn't get done more often than it does. I must say, though, that right now my toilet is beautiful and sparkly with nary a ring to be found. ;)

I hope everyone has a good weekend and that Lifeguard has safe travels to Canada!

Thanks everyone for such a warm welcome. :)

Did the 3 hour test this morning. Thought I was going to pass out 20 minutes in I was so dizzy & lightheaded but then she had me lie down for a little bit & that passed. Long morning but it's done & now I'll just keep my fingers crossed until Monday when I will get my results.

pixiefalls 08-16-2008 06:54 PM

Lifeguard you'll be in my prayers. Hope the test results come out good!

Jen 08-17-2008 09:28 AM

Lifeguard - hears hoping for good news tomorrow with your GD test!

Gale - I have totally given up on my weight gain goal, it just doesn't make sense to drive myself bonkers over something I have limited control over. Yes I can control what I eat and drink but I can't control my body from retaining everything and the weight piles on. I gained like 6 lbs in 1 week and it is all fluid, even my doctor agrees with me on that. So far I have gained less with this one than with my first pregnancy and I lost all that weight within 3 weeks after delivery so I am pretty sure this will be the same. I don't think I have gained any personal weight, it is all baby and extra fluid. I don't use my scale at home anymore and I don't pay too much attention when they weigh me at the doctor's after I saw that 6 lbs weight gain and knew it was fluid retention. I'm going to weigh myself at home the morning I go in for my c-section and when I get home and then I"ll get serious about the post partum weight.

Had some Braxton Hicks contractions last night which was interesting because I don't remember having any with my first pregnancy. At first I thought the baby was just doing a rumba in there but then it didn't feel the same as baby moving after awhile. I also had the best sleep last night, I was so rested this morning I almost cried I was so happy. Of course I had to drug myself up for it! :) I had migraines all day yesterday so I had taken some Tylenol 3 at bedtime and then woke up a little later feeling so sick to my stomach that I took a Gravol so between those I was zonked and barely woke up all night. Not that I can do that every night but it would be nice to get some good sleeps in before the baby comes and I am up every 3-4 hours for the next few months!

Lifeguard 08-17-2008 09:41 AM

Thanks for the support! I did the test yesterday. I had a brief period where I felt like heck - dizzy & lightheaded but that passed & the rest of the time went quicker than expected. I brought some crochetting along & that helped pass the time. She had me give urine samples with each blood test too & my crazy bladder (that is always ready to go lately) froze up!!! LOL

Gale - I hear you on accepting the weight gain is not what you hoped for. I'm quite a bit more than I had hoped I would be & it always seems to pile on in 5lb chunks. Nothing for a few weeks & then bam!

modkittn 08-18-2008 01:53 PM

Hey ladies - I'm a lurker on here for now, as I'm TTC but wanted to tell Lisa that I just saw her pics. Henry is so cute! Congrats :)

Lifeguard 08-18-2008 03:45 PM

Got the results today. I have GD. I am not a happy camper. I'm very ready to have this baby & move on.
