I am at a loss, I have a % month old son, who is a nursing machine, and 2 1/2 yrs old daughter. My question is how do you get out and excersise when you are in the middle of potty training? I have been stuck in the house because of the weather, and now that it is starting to warm up I am ready to get out and start walking again, but what do I do about my 2 year old bring the potty chair along? Any advice would be great!
Does your two year old ever fall asleep in the stroller? If you go around nap time she can sleep while you walk. Maybe?
When I potty trained my daughter, I just didn't worry much about it. I took her potty before we left the house and offered it whenever one came around (restaurant, grandma's house, etc.) She went full time panties right after turning 2 and really didn't have many accidents. Granted, I was super lucky with her since she is my miss priss that can not be wet or dirty or icky in any way and so potty training was probably far easier than it should have been.
I guess just do it and if it ends up being a major time for accidents, pull it back a little. Good luck! I hope it is a smooth transition!
Take the child to the potty right before your workout. They should be able to go 20-40 minutes without a bathroom break, if they actually went when they were taken.
Basically, it is going to take a little planning. Nurse the baby right before a normal nap time. Take the toddler to potty immediately after. Exercise IMMEDIATELY.
I have three kids, and my older two were 2 1/2 years apart, so I understand having a young infant and a potty training toddler at the same time.
Don't go far away. Six miles walked around the same block is still six miles walked! It surely gets boring, but, hey, you're out. My children are the same ages as yours and that's what I do right now. I'm never more than, say, 10 minutes from the house. I could make it so I'm never more than five minutes if I needed to. I suppose I could be one minute away and just circle the cul de sac, but that'd be a bit extreme!
When my son was potty training, he peed in the woods on several walks. My first daughter has a bladder of steel and could go hours between using the potty from eighteen months on. My second daughter is potty training now. She's one and a half and is in undies during the day. I take her potty before I exercise and sometimes have to pause whatever I'm doing to take her again in the middle. She tells me when she has to go, so at least I don't have to stop to clean up messes... For walks, I kind of plan our route so we're within five minutes or so of friends' or relatives' houses. I have also taken the portable potty along on walks. Heck, I took a portable potty to the Chinese New Year parade in San Francisco when my first daughter was potty training!
Moms are crazy. You can get away with stuff like that!
have you tried playing some workout dvds during naptime? It's not as good as going outside but I guess if you're desperate I guess it's better than nothing.
I get more done during naptime than most people get done all day!
I hope your kids take their naps at the same time.
I've never been able to work out during the day with little kids. You never know what they're going to do to mess it up! I do take them for little walks whenever possible, and use some rough-housing time with them for some extra calorie burn, but I do my real workouts after they go to bed at night or before they wake up in the morning.
If children develop a regular naptime (from 8-9 months to about 3 or 4 years old, it is the perfect time to exercise. I do this daily, and did with my older two kids-and it has never been an issue.
If for some reason I couldn't get it in (needed to do other things) then my husband will watch the kids for 30-45 minutes while I go do a workout.
Exercising with 3 kids has never been an issue at our house.
how about walking in the mall? I know in mine they open it up early for walkers where there are no stores open.. and there are plenty of bathrooms there..
