Man I dont know what the deal is this week with lefty...Monday morning I needed to pump a bottle so I could go to yoga monday night. I dont pump often so first thing in the am is usually the only time.

Sunday night he had nursed on lefty last so righty was full and I pumped a full bottle off righty, then I fed him and righty was still fuller so I used righty. I went running and dh got confused and fed him the bottle I had JUST pumped about 10 minutes before I got home so I tried pumping lefty...got maybe 2 oz in 20 minutes. switched over and got another 2 oz off righty.

Wednesday am I did a double pump and got 8 oz off righty and maybe 2 off lefty.

No biggie, he is 9 months, a little early, but dd had a clear preference for lefty and at about a year we switched to exclusively 1 side nursing, so if I am losing 1 side supply no biggie... I still continued to alternate feeding sides each feeding.

Except then I woke up yesterday and LEFTY was engorged and last night it was so full when we were out to dinner I had to sneak off behind the bushes (outdoor restaurant) and squirt into the grass -= he wouldnt eat. And he ate on lefty before bed and this morning it was still so full he nursed there again. psycho boobs. I havent had engorgement in MONTHS.

Congratulations Ottoette!

That is strange Ennay. I'm engorged every morning. My body seems to be taking longer to adjust to the baby sleeping through the night this time around. I have to pump a little before nursing him in the morning. He won't latch onto hard boobs

Ennay, think you might have a plugged duct? That could make the milk taste salty AND keep you from getting all of the milk out when you were pumping. Do you have any hard spots?

I never had any issues with plugged ducts or mastitis until about a month ago when BAM I got mastitis all of a sudden out of nowhere. Three nurslings, and it didn't happen until the third was over a year old! I have no idea why. Avery didn't care, though. But I've heard some babies won't eat off that side because the milk comes through salty-tasting.

If you think that might be the problem, just keep nursing/pumping as much as you can and rest up! Kick that bugger out before you develop an infection.

Hey, Donna, you think your baby would come over and teach Avery how to sleep through the night? I haven't gotten a full night's sleep in well over a year now!!!

Oh no, no plugged ducts, just ungodly levels of production this week. I have a huge milk supply and I think I have been eating a bit more and the body is responding. I've had to pump more just to sleep or run. I could feed triplets this week.

Ah well, if it continues much longer I'll just get some sage tea and do all those things you arent supposed to do if you have low supply.

Could be. Pump and freeze! It'll be good for when Alex starts on cereal and all.
