I just delivered my son in April. I started my pregnancy at 213, delivered at 250, and at 10 weeks post partum I weigh 195.5. I had no problems during my pregnancy. I lost the 37 pounds I gained within 2 weeks of delivery. I wasn't dieting or exercising. It literally just fell off. I started Weight Watchers on May 2nd.

I've been thinking I need to lose weight before trying to get pregnant too, but not taking any action to do so. My husband has been patiently waiting. I weigh 185 lbs. and my Dr. and I agreed 160 lbs. would be my goal to reach before pregnancy. But I am lazy and not dieting - keep meaning to - and I am 32 yrs old.

I got pregnant in Dec. 2006 at 182 lbs. and had a miscarriage at 10 weeks. It had nothing to do with my weight. Anyway, we are trying again - last period started June 15 and I am going to take a pregnancy test on July 15.

I am interested in talking to anyone else out there who is trying to get pregnant.

Hi,

I thought I would share my experience. I started out my pregnancy weighing about 230. I delivered at about 238 or so. I did have high blood pressure which resulted in my son having to come earlier and having IUGR. For me the weight didn't help the blood pressure.

Now, my husband and I are wanting to try again. My ob said that she wasn't as concerned about me losing weight before as she was that I not gain a lot during. She also said that losing 10 or 15 pounds before would probably help my blood pressure, though. So that is my goal--lose 15 before starting to try and maybe lose more as we try.

Oh, and I definitely LOOKED pregnant. I didn't get very big since my son came early and he wasn't very big, but I looked pg.

If it was me, I would wait. It's something I have been thinking about too. If I decided to have children, I would make sure I had my finances in order, so why not my health? A healthy mom is the best gift you can give your child.

I also saw this all over the news today: http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20070807/...Mgusou31rVJRIF

For me personally I want to be healthy. I am healthy right now though fat...Very few women look pregnant during those first few months. Pretty much we all look like we have been gaining a few too many pounds! I lost quite a few lbs when I was pregnant with my first just by changing my diet to healthier foods and walking every other day. If I decide to go ahead and try to get pregnant then I will do the same thing. Be healthy for the baby. And forget about the scale. Put the dadgum thing away Instead I'll just be healthy...eat, sleep, drink, and exercise healthy! Just so long as you aren't like my cousin who used the excuse of being pregnant to eat 3 quarts of mint chocolate chip icecream in one day. She has always watched her weight and when she got pregnant she used it as an exuse, well I'm pregnant I can eat whatever I want. And she did....poor think looked unhealthy! Most women do not do that...nor should they!

Ya know, I was just telling my Mom the other day that I'm ready to LOOK pregnant!!!! I see pictures of women on baby gaga that are the same # of weeks pregnant that I am and they have these cute little bellies. I look EXACTLY the same as I did before! Still wearing the same clothes, everything.

Momma tells me not to get impatient, that soon enough I'll be wishing I were smaller again
