Thumbs down Spironolactone - Meds Question

My doctor put me on Spironolactone in May after my annual check-up... If I'm correct, it's a sort of dieuretic that controls the Insulin levels and slows hair growth.

Anyone else use this??

ps/ i could live forever if the hair on my the rest of my body would start growing on my HEAD. LOL

I also take spiroaldactone for blood pressure. Yes, it is a diuretic. My doctor decided to try this first because I seem to hold onto a lot of water due to the amount of colas I drink. Since I've laid off of the colas I've noticed that my BP dosen't rise like it used to. Also, I have noticed that my hair growth has slowed some. I don't have to pluck etc as much as I used to!

hi maharet:

thanks for your reply. im glad to know that im not the only one taking this medication. the doctor did prescribe this to me for the hair growth problem -- and after a few months i can definitely see that the hair is becoming thinner, less noticeable and i dont have to pluck as much!

now if it could only help with my hair falling out! ive been using that loreal fruictise shampoo/conditioner and i *have* noticed that my hair is much stronger but i still have a problem with it falling out...

its one of the things i hate the most
