Who's here this month? My name is Kelly. Like Kristina, I'm new to 3FC, but not PCOS. I wasn't diagnosed until I was 25, but the symptoms were evident from the time I was 12, and have gotten progressively worse over time. Only recently have I tried to stop relying on my doctors and see what I can do to help my own situation.

How are you? Doing well Trying to stay motivated, which, right now, isn't as hard since I have seen this as something of a challenge. Looking at PCOS as an opportunity to, in a round about way, enrich my life instead of becoming victim to it, is a new mindset, but I think it is already paying off. At least for my peace of mind.

What are you working on? Diet and exercise. Huge downfalls in my past that I am hoping to correct.

How was last month? Not great. I was waiting to have my LapBand fixed and hating every minute, avoiding every mirror, and falling prey to all my favorite comfort foods and sticking with all my bad habits.

How's your PCOS management going? It's all new, so I'm not really sure. I'm not on Metformin anymore (only because I can't take any pills bigger than aspirin), so I have definitely seen a slow down in weight loss. When I had the band fixed, I dropped 6 pounds in the first 2 weeks and didn't even realize it. Now, I think I've lost 4 in the last 6, the scale isn't budging, and it's frustrating since I am working harder than I ever have. I'm looking into alternative, natural therapies to help compensate for not having Met, but haven't hit on anything yet. Any advise? I am open to trying just about anything. LOL

Hi everyone, I am new! I have loved reading what everyone has to post!

Just wondering if anyone has any experience with PALEO or Ideal Protein for PCOS. I have reached the point where I need to loose some weight, and I am just trying to research right now what would be best. Any insights would be appreciated.

No idea about Ideal Protein, but I have had a patient that did the, Paleo and she swore by it. I don't think she was using it for PCOS, but it seems like it would be perfect for healthy living in general.

Rana, I can totally relate. I have been on a business trip this past 2 weeks and I have been eating really bad. I spent most of my time in ruraly places where I had no good options for food. I am scared to go home and get on the scale.

I just got through the security line at he airport and the TSA guy looks at my d/l and said "you look so much younger on your d/l" the picture was taken about a year ago when I was 140lbs. I can't believe that 15 lbs makes me look noticble older :'(

I'm sorry....

I've been trying to lose those three extra pounds I've gained, but it feels like it's impossible. My body doesn't want to lose the weight and I'm not ready to do any drastic cuts in calories because of all the exercise that I do.

I've started drinking green tea (again) to see if that helps.

I have PCOS and lurk on this forum a bit. Thought I'd post this here

TOM came this morning .

When I eat right, stay away from simple carbs and get my exercise in, it usually comes. This is literally a month to the day after my last one so hopefully things are becoming more regular. It means my body is getting healthier and my hormones are normalizing I'm hoping it results in a decent loss this week .

Also I lost 35 pounds so far this year and I just noticed my facial hair is getting better. I shave it practically daily, I'm constantly paranoid about someone touching my face and feeling stubble. It's not and never was THAT bad though. Anyway I noticed I can now get away with only doing it every other/every 3 days. I plan to get a bunch of laser hair removal once I lose a bit more weight so that it doesn't grow back.

Good news... I gained only 1lb after my 2 week trip

On the other hand, it seems like my body can't seem to handle food lately. I always end up feeling nauseous after eating anything. I am going to try and slowly wean myself off refined carbs and concentrate on getting plenty of fruits and vegetables.

Nina..... YAY!!!!!!!! Only 1 lbs gain!!! That's awesome!!!!!

I am doing okay. I'm down to 167, which means I'm only 2 lbs away from my low of 165. I think I saw 164 at some point, but I just want to be at 165 again. I'd rather lose more, of course..... but baby steps... I can't let myself gain weight again because it's so freaking hard to get it off......

I've been feeling pretty great exercising almost every day, doing 7+ hours a week. I know the weight isn't dropping off, but I do feel great inside.

September is ending and my goal for October will be to really do well on the food portion. I've been eating out a lot, even if it's been relatively healthy, but I want to get more creative at home.

Paleo is about what is suggested in The Natural Diet Solution for PCOS and Infertility:

I'd like to get back toward that -low gi whole foods thing.

Anyway, I'm back! It's been so stressy -- but Dad went the the psych and he's got some other doc appts lined up. Cross your fingers he GOES without us having to have another big argument. It's tiresome.

For myself, I've been decluttering my house, had my second massage appt (I'm carrying all the stressing in my hips and knees apparantly and it is causing me some pain), working on my relationship with spouse to alleviate other stresses, etc.

I'm not out of the woods but doing better. I'll try to check back in again later today and catch up on everyone else.

hugs
A.

I am about 90% recovered from my sugery, which rocks... Back to work and everything!

PCOS-wise, I have gone from one extreme to another when it comes to bleeding. I had my 10 day period, a short break, then the bleeding started up again as I mentioned. I've had significant flow for 15 days and I am on day 3 of the placebo pills in my second month of Ortho Tri-Cyclen. I've read that I should contact my doctor if irregular bleeding happens during more than one cycle, so I guess I'll wait a bit. This morning I passed a clot the size of a small house mouse (that's the first comparison that came to mind, lol) so I was a little creeped out.

Glad you're feeling better, JustSharing!

Just keep taking care of yourself, astrophe!

I've been feeling very blah and stressed out recently and I associated it entirely with work and it turns out that while work isn't the only problem, it was also PMS!!!! I got my period today, yay, happy dance.

I knew it was about to come, I just didn't know when and to be honest, with all the work stuff (soooooooo mmmmmuuuuucccchhh work!!!) I wasn't really focused on it.

I'm tired and feeling cranky today now.
