@ Rana - I have this on my desktop and its inspiring:

Thanks Pgh, it's so true.

Today, I'm fighting off a cold. I hate being sick. I feel it in my sinus and my throat. Urgh.

I'm still going to work out tonight, but we'll see how I am feeling tomorrow... Low calorie day, not really hungry. Up a couple of pounds though, what happened? Can sickness bring on immediate weight gain? I never noticed.

Hi ladies! I have had ovarian cysts pop up over the last few years. The first time it happened, I went to my ob/gyn and had an ultrasound done and they found a cyst. She put me on birth control to treat it. It worked and after a few months, I went off birth control because I was afraid I would gain weight from it and my hubby can't father children anyway. So over the last few years, I just deal with the pain.
Up until recently, I was having cysts only 3 or 4 times a year. It usually causes minor to medium pain only on 1 side and goes away after a few days. For the past 2 months, it has been more painful cysts on the one side causing bleeding similar to the start of my period. Should I be concerned? My annual appointment isn't until March, but given that I am having some bleeding, should I reschedule asap? I don't know if she diagnosed me with PCOS, but I have found that I do have a lot of symptoms such as acne, significant weight gain when the cysts began, and excessive facial/body hair.

Any advice would be so helpful! Thanks!

Pink Hoodie: Sorry you are stressed! Maybe yoga would be a good way to get back on track?

PGH: I like that motto! :)

Rana: Too bad you are sick... :( hope that clears up soon!

ravenjeh: I'd just get a new appointment. Why live with cyst pain til March? That seems like a long time -- esp if you think it is somehow worse with the bleeding. Get checked out, ok? GL!

My Check in:

I'm enjoying the calm -- things with life/work are in a more relaxed place. That helps a lot with the stress. But I'm having that dry, crunchy eyeball thing that sometimes happens with PCOS. That part is annoying.

I'm on track with the food log so far... not great with exercise. Still trying though...

I quit taking BCP -- time for a break. And now I'm having spotting. (Common enough when changing pill use.)

But OMG -- I want cookies like crazy! I swear PCOS patients are ultra sensitive to hormone shifts. Yargh.

I'm trying to resist and hold out for fruit later.

some of you know that I haven't officially been diagnosed with PCOS yet...but I have a lot of the symptoms and had one doc mention I might have it. I'm waiting on my 90 days at my new job before insurance kicks in before I can see a doc for a diagnosis......but meanwhile I'm doing a low carb diet and increasing my exercise and taking chromium. I'm thinking I should drop out of the biggest loser contest here on 3FC as I am feeling discouraged as my weight loss is sporadic and sometimes slow and up and down. I'm thinking it is counteractive for me to be part of it.

I joined it for motivation but it's obvious my weight loss isn't consistent enough to be part of a team and competition. Are any of you part of a competition like this?

astrophe 10-29-2010 11:13 PM

LeslieLou: Hey there! :welcome2: No, I'm not in a competition like that, for much the same reason. It's slow as molasses for me. But I hope that your 90 days goes by quick! GL with the dx!

Check In:

I got my eye exam at the mall and I was getting hungry. OMG -- it was crazy. I finally decided on a 6 inch turkey sub from subway as the best of the lot at the food court. No drink.

I walked by and AWAY from starbucks, cinnamon buns, two ice cream places... TWICE. Each time arguing with myself over craving sweets and each time telling myself to step away and save it for my kid's Halloween party where it would be more enjoyable to share it with her.

Torture! But I made it out of there...

Still sick, but at least my weight has come down to 176.4 again. BF thinks the weight gain was my body preparing to be sick and now that it's used up all the energy it's back down.

I'm feeling awful, so I'm going to bed now. I don't know if I'll have a loss this week despite eating relatively well and keep up with my exercising. Although, I have to admit, I did not have as much energy as other days.

I'm traveling next week, so I'll really be put to the test food-wise. My goal is to NOT increase. I wish I could say I would lose, but unless the food is really crappy... I'm just annoyed about this whole trip on so many levels, being sick is on top of the list for that.

I hope everyone had a much better week than I did.

I have totally been MIA from the board. BUT huge news from me at my Dr's appointment, I ovulated on my own this month!! So I hugely believe now in the link between weight and PCOS. Its still hard to stay on track, but I know if I keep losing I will be in better shape.
I am now just waiting for my period and I will be starting fertility drugs again next cycle. Please pray/send thoughts that I get pg soon! I am reaching 7 years of waiting for it to be my turn to have a baby, and I think its about time!!!! :)
