pgh -- Glad you like the new ob/gyn! Also glad you had fun shopping for the new clothes after losing those 23!

Nicolai -- Welcome! :welcome:

My check in:

Barely hanging in there... overcome with CRAZY yen for cookies. Will TOM ever come? I need relief! From the cravings and the bloat!

Welcome Nicolai.

I'm desperately hoping to lose another 2 lbs in the next few days. I've been exercising and eating well (in fact, I've struggled to get my calories to 1200) and like I said in another thread, I totally credit the fact that I'm eating really "clean" and taking my supplements.

But the scale doesn't go down and I need it to go down. I need to lose the weight. All my other stuff is healthy. It's amazing how much my body wants to hold on to the fat!

[QUOTE=Cookc04;3521483]Welcome Nicolai,
The trackers come after about 20 days, and 20 posts - or something like that.
Best bit of advice - take the weight you think is reasonable to loose in a week... that's about how much you'll lose in a month. Have patience it does come off - someitmes it's just really slow, if you are losing fast, there does come points when it slows down. Ride this out.

OMG! This is VERY true. I wish I knew these words when I first found out I had PCOS and I was trying to lose weight. I lost 10 lbs and it took me 2 months! Ugh! I love how you describe it.

Thank you for those words. Everytime I try to explain it to people I get the HUH?! look haha. I'll be using this. Thanks =D

pgh 10-15-2010 08:08 AM

CookC - man your so right!! That is an awesome way to explain it to 'normal' people!

Have a good weekend people. Keep it low GI and lets WORKOUT!! :)

Hi all.

Sorry I've been MIA. I did have an AF all on my own though!

Anywho had a quick question. I have been on Fortamet 500 mg 3 x's a day for years now. Recently my husband got a new job and so that means new insurance which doesn't cover as much on the prescriptions, but covers more on the infertility. Anywho, went to get my Fortamet refilled and it was gonna be $50!! So I called my dr and asked if he could call in a cheaper drug. He is calling in Metformin Extended Release.

I took Metformin MANY MANY years ago and it made me sick as a dog. I have heard however that the Extended Release is not as bad?? Have any of you taken it or are any of you on it??

Thanks A Bunch!! I hope you are all well!!

I took MEt XR and was ok with it after stair stepping it up to the dose I needed to be at. Def take with food.

When I started getting nasty with it all of a sudden, I had labs and discovered my IR was gone -- or dormant? So I was getting sick on it because it wasn't needed any more.

Wish me luck.

This is what I said back on October 1st, if I'm not mistaken.

Tomorrow is my doctor's appointment.

Since my first visit to my doctor, I've lost 6 lbs. Since I wrote that, I've lost 5 -- FIVE -- lbs.

I'm down to 177, a weight I haven't seen in about 5 years.

:carrot::carrot::carrot::carrot::carrot:

I don't know if I want to take Metformin anymore. The exercise/food/supplements are working and I think I want to take this particular path for as long as I can.

I'm afraid of taking Metformin to be honest, because of all the side-effects people talk about. :o

Yikes, I feel like I am jinxing myself, but I have to remember that this isn't magic... this is just hard work and tweaking what works for me.

Well ladies, I am back in the trying to get pregnant with PCOS game... :P We took a break after our miscarriage, and now are starting to get worried we are going to lose some of our coverage on health insurance so we are trying to squeeze in a couple more cycles of infertility treatments. Wish me luck...this PCOS has just really done a number on me!

I had my naturopathic doctor appointment on Friday. It was so amazing to sit with a doctor for an hour and a half while she actually listened to me and nodded her head in agreement at the observations I made about my body and hormones. It was so validating to me! I go in tomorrow for labs and I am anxious to get those results back and truly begin this process. She thought my doctors comment about how I don't have PCOS since I no longer have ovaries was completely absured, you should have seen her face. For the first time, I feel hopeful that I will get my PCOS under control and no longer live under it's control. I am so relieved and excited!!!

Rana -- I answered you in your other thread. :hugs:

PinkHoodie -- GL with the TTC!

ArcticStampQueen - I'm so glad the appt went so well! Yay!

My Check In:

I'm here, post TOM, feeling better. The last of the crazy sweet/carb cravings is going away. Always feel so FRANTIC then.

Getting over a cold, but other than that, I'm hanging in there!

A. :)

PinkHoodie 10-20-2010 10:25 AM

I am so frustarted!!! I have been doing great with eating and exercise for the most part, and I just keep bouncing around the same weight, the low 200s...urgh!!! I can't help but feel that PCOS as at least partly to blame...I am getting so discouraged I just feel like giving up and eating what I want... :P

astrophe 10-21-2010 08:01 PM

Pinkhoodie: Maybe it is time to change the workout? May it isn't as challenging any more?

My Check in:

Derailed a bit today with fries but got it back on track so overall still -500 calories over the last 5 days. 4 days to go and maybe I'll see a -1 lb!

A.

pgh 10-22-2010 12:35 AM

pink hoodie keep a goal, maybe like Christmas you want to be at a weight or something like that and really work very hard towards it. Mine is currently a cousin's wedding where the entire family from across the world is going to land up in end November. Really want to fit into cool clothes then! :)

My check in - its been going ok. have been on the same weight for the last 3 weeks.. so that ain't fun. I think the days of seeing the scales move every 10 days or so have gone, or what I call the 'easy weight.' Just trying to mix it up...and be motivated.

We can do it Ladies.. keep it low GI and WORKOUT!

I think I'm safely in the 176 range. I skipped right over 177, which is so bizarre after having been at 178/179/180 for a long time.

I'm so excited, to be honest. I think the chromium is working, which is amazing to me. I'm still watching what I eat and exercising, just like I was before, but the weight is actually come off, rather than sticking.

I'm understanding now why people are motivated to continue lose. Every pound so far has been such a struggle it feels/felt like this was going to be a lifetime to lose the remaining weight.

:)
