Hello ladies .. hope the weekend is going well.
I've had a horrible weekend .. the mood swings were insane. Even my poor patient husband had it with me!
is there anything I can do to normalise moods and not be so erratic. My period isnt due for 2 weeks +
any view / insight will be immensely helpful
Sorry to hear this -- hang in there! But it is interesting to me because ovlualtion time is when I feel beserk too. I complained to my family practice doc and she suggested to get off the generic Sprintec and try brand name Orthocyclen. I did for this pack and you know what? She was right.

I had a smoother pack feel. Her theory that my crazy was coming from Sprintec not having as good a quality control as brand name. You save in cost, but then the formula isn't as consistent.

So... ovulation time hit and I felt crazy. But this time it was manageable crazy and I wasn't being all snappish and cranky and evil. More like... annoyed but coping level.

The other source of my cranky in the past has been poor blood sugar management. You may want to invest in a meter just to see if that's the root of the problem.

I'm sure the other ladies will have more ideas.

GL!

Astrophe,

You are so great at being supportive to everyone--Just wanted to say a big thanks for that. I often don't have time to respond to everyone personally but I am reading, cheering, sighing, crying, and laughing with all of you this August.

Check up, keep fluttering between 285 and 284. I feel stalled and know that I'm not going to get going until I bump up my exericise. I walk about 2-3 miles for work every day (we have a huge building that I have to run all over) but other than that and my daily crunches, pushups, I haven't been doing my cardio. Will try to get back on my C25K plan tonight. I had to put it on hold when I got sick May-July and had to have a tumor removed. Recovered and ready to get back at it~

Hang in there everyone. One and half more weeks to make August successful.

thanks astrophe!
I don't live in the US .. However, since i was diagnosed only in June.. the doc suggests doing the weight management thing for a few months before getting on medication. Its been going well so far .. i've lost about 14 pounds so far.
I was trying all the natural remedies etc before settling in for medication.

thanks for replying to my posts so painstakingly...

Aw... you guys are sweet. ;)

But its as much for me as anyone else. There's not a lot of IRL people that understand this whole PCOS thing so I rely on the online buddies here...I need to be accountable to SOMEBODY or else I'm going to slack off again.

I know there will be times where I fall off on the fitness or the food log. But I don't want to stay permanently off even when things like this recent work crazy make it rough going.

Checking in helps me a lot and helping to be part of the :cheer2: and getting some :cheer2: back for myself is encouraging to me.

I want to kick PCOS butt already!!! I've obviously had it all my life, but I've spent almost 20 years obese from it and I'm so totally over that part of it. :tantrum:

This morning I saw 254.5! I'm not sure it's going to be "sticking" yet. You know how scales jiggle their way down instead of being straight. But I'm hoping if I get back on the cardio by the weekend it might be a win and I can change my ticker to the NEXT 10 lbs off. :D

best wishes,
A.

man... this has been strangely quiet. I guess mid-week blues. Looking forward to the weekend! :) Hopefully everyone has their eye on the ball.. and the magical number that we all aspire to reach!
Keep going .. and WORKOUT!

hi everyone .. I am somewhat new to this board but wanted to share what was going on with me.

I was recently diagnosed with PCOS based on my acne, testorone level, and inablility to lose weight. I am on 500 grams of Metaformin twice daily. I have tried tons of diet and nothing has worked for me in the past but now I am on my 3rd day of SouthBeach and am hoping for results. I am a little depressed right now because like in the past, I am worried that this diet wont work for me either. Has anyone else had these stuggles?

ShelBl 08-26-2010 02:19 PM

Heard back from Holly, my fantastic NP at the new GYN office. Got my testosterone levels tested as a baseline before she started me on the Yaz, and that and all my other stuff came back normal, so yay. No side effects from the Yaz so far.... have one more week before those four dreaded little white pills. Every time I think about it, I get crampy :(

astrophe 08-27-2010 11:34 PM

PGH: Yeah, I noticed the quiet too. :)

futureskinnygirl10: :welcome: Try not to worry about it. Do your best, keep getting your endoc labs and slowly it will come together. We're all here for you!

ShelBl: Yay! No Yaz problems!

Well, I did it. :D I made it to the end of the week (more or less) and I'm past the first ten lbs. I am now at 252.5! Whee!

But I'm going to tweak my ticker out to a goal of 250. Then the 10 lb benchmarks from there are nice and round instead of weird.

Not exercising well, but doing well on the food log part. Which, given my work crunch, is amazing all by itself.

Hope you have a great weekend! :)

Hi Ladies!

Its been a while since I last posted. I was feeling very demotivated and sick of putting in effort but not seeing results as I'd like.

I'm wondering if anyone is up for a workout challenge in September? We'll have a seperate thread to keep track of our exercise goals for September & stay accountable to each other. Anyone?

=)

pgh 08-29-2010 12:10 PM

yay astrophe!

jigglybits - just keep at it!

have a good week ahead ladies. keep it low GI and lets workout!!

astrophe 08-29-2010 08:43 PM

I'll play -- go start that PCOS exercise thread and tell me where to sign up! I am so slackery in that area right now. I see how other groups have one and everyone "contributes" their minutes to the group total of minutes.

We could all try to get a PALA with out minutes too!

Exercise Thread

Jiggly-Bits,

I'm in too! I gained and lost the same 3 pounds over and over this month GRRR. Ended the month in the same place I started, which is discouraging. I need to start exercising and a thread would help keep me accountable. I'm with Astrophe--let's keep track of our minutes.

My fiance also started a challenge to get him, his kiddos, and myself motivated to exercise. It's called "Beat the Dad". We have a spreadsheet and we all have to record our minutes for working out everyday. Gym class for the kids and walking all day at work don't count--this is extra. If we have the most minutes at the end of the month and beat Dad, then we win $20. If we don't beat Dad then the $20 goes into the pool for the next month when we can win $40.

For me, its not about the money--its about bragging right LOL.

Hang in there everyone. By the way--I have extra motivation now---I got engaged last week and I want to weigh less when I get married than I did when I was with my ex. (good goal!) :carrot:

museumchick 08-30-2010 10:56 AM

Congratulations on your engagement LaughingGirl! That's an awesome goal too, to be in good shape for your wedding.

That's actually a really good idea, a competition for most minutes of physical activity. I've kinda been doing that with my BF...but it's more like keeping up! My BF used to weigh 390 pounds (mostly due to a massive amount of psych meds his ex-wife had him on). He's off the meds now and he's working out like crazy to try and get the weight off. He's down 50 pounds, so that's good, but he exercises at the gym 2-3 times a day!! He'll get up and go before work, he'll work out over lunch, and then work out again for an hour or so after work!

I obviously can't compete with that (mostly because my job isn't as flexible as his is), but I do try and keep up with 2 hours of physical activity per day. It seems to be working so far :D

astrophe 08-30-2010 10:44 PM

September thread is up! C'mon over! :D
