I am so glad that I am not the only one with sleep issues! There have been SO many times I have wanted to crawl under my desk and nap during the day...do we know is this a hormone thing or a sugar/insulin level thing? I find that when I eat 6 times a day, I don't get as tired.

Who's here this month?
Meeeeee!!! [I have been good I promise] How Are You? I'm great!! I'm also newly ENGAGED!!! To that man in that picture right there. That picture was our first picture together 3 years ago =) What are you working on? Working a daily workout routine. I walk 20-30 minutes on my lunch break & also walking the dog and going to the gym when I come home. Also working on what I eat & how much in eating. How's your PCOS management going? It's going LOL Since I want kids in the next year I'm trying to get it under control. Still looking for a doc that knows about this. Last doc I had told me if I have a period I'm ovulating. And she knows about PCOS LOL Great =\ Thank goodness she isn't my regular doctor. |
Laughing....just wonder if you have had your Thyroid tested? I had the same problem until I got on Synthroid. Hypothyroidism goes hand in hand with PCOS....
|
trafficjambooty: Def not the only one fighting PCOS! ;)
Pinkhoodie: Glad you checked in! Can you call the doc office for the Synthroid refills? Hopefully MIA period will resolve. Nicoyaangel: Glad to see you too! And congrats on the engagement! That doc never heard of an annovulatory period? Weird. Hope you find one you like better! chouchoubou & pgh: My sleep even at best is still choppy because I want to spend time with both child and spouse, and I end up having to nap in the middle of the day so I have enough energy for both. I like Mighty Leaf Citrus Chamomile. Tasty and I can steep two cups from one bag. That pretty much gets me all relaxed and mellow on nights I have a hard time. I've been experiencing a few days where I hit the 3 PM mark and it has been amazing. Like -"Ok, I am tired, but I'm not exhausted like it kicked my butt. So what is different today?!" I haven't figured it out but I'm tracking it along my cycle to see if it happens at certain times of the month. So far not pattern yet that I can tell. lylmeg: What works for me? Calorie counting of some kind -- plain or as exchanges. And 60 min exercise 4x a week. I'm working up to that again but not a whole lot happens if I'm not clocking that minimum. PCOS pounds seem stubborn on me! Here's lots of articles: http://www.fitcysters.com/forum/topi...ht-fast-w-pcos MY CHECK IN Ok, so I didn't really want to workout last night but I did it anyway. Going to do it again today. I keep telling myself that even though I WANT to do 60 min, getting 30 min is better than 0 min and to just chill out and not get all cranky when I cannot manage 60. I'm going to try for 30 min and 60 goal tonight. I may just have to deal with not getting a peaceful 60 til kid is back in school. I felt like I was going to go CRAZY today with all her "Mom! Mom!" all day long. It's been a looong summer. ETA: Did the 30 min! I almost wasn't going to and then I reread my post and thought "Ugh, I don't want to tell the PCOS gals that I flaked out!" So thanks for just being here! Corny as it is... this workout challenge is a big hurdle for me it being accountable to this thread matters to me! :) A. |
How are you?
Hi, things have been better. Still struggling with infertility due to annovulation PCOS. It really sucks. Looks like I'm clomid resistant now so I have to wait until the end of the month before I can have a consultation to see if the RE wants to start injections. Last time I talked she wasn't very hopeful and mentioned IVF. I was diagnosed about 8 years ago but didn't know nearly what I know now. It seems like BCP and metformin are a MUST with PCOS to preserve fertility. What are you working on? Losing weight! I have no will power...I binge eat. I do exercise but not consistently. I want to lose 10 lbs before I see my RE so she knows that I'm serious about this! I'm also going to look into acupuncture for fertility. How's your PCOS management going? It's not. I want to also ask her to put me on Metformin. I've heard that it can help women get pregnant. |
Hi Willow --
GL with the TTC! :) I took Glucophage XR for a year to help regulate my cycles. I got them to 60 days apart. I also charted with www.tcoyf.com so I could take a better stab at when O was going to hit. I figured if I wasn't pregnant by a year I'd add the Clomid. I went to see doc, got the prescription and was sitting around waiting for period to show so I could start it. And it turned out DD was on her way so I never took it. MY CHECK IN: My internet seems flaky... will have to check that out. Anyway -- sore form the workouts. Yay! Today is either rest or yoga. I have to see how I am when everyone goes to sleep. I'm midcycle so I'm feeling a bit blah and craving sweets and other carbs so I'm trying to keep that under control. A. |
Hey, how is everyone? I feel bad not posting as much, but I'm kind of shy and can get awkward about posting.
Astrophe - Thank you for the workout suggestion :) That does look interesting and easy enough, but I haven't decided if I'm going to get it or not. It has been one of the better things I've come across, though. I had no idea sleeping issues went with PCOS. My sleeping has been horrible lately. Feel like I have to sleep 10-12 hours before I can get out of bed, and I have a hard time sleeping at night. I had sleep apnea as a kid, but I think it's back. Was supposed to go to a doctor about it, but I canceled the appointment 'cause I figure it'll get better when I lose weight. I'll try to keep up better with this thread. |
I hope everyone is having a good weekend. I'm up past my bedtime again. Sheesh. But i did workout today!! Yay!! I went for a bike ride in the park and did 14.7 miles. I'm not too sore, it actually helped alleviate some other leg soreness from trying to do squats and things...so painful!
I'm so glad about the sleep discovery. Another thing to manage and get a handle on. Boy we sure are complex the lot of us! I feel like some kind of rare lotus flower...I want to bloom!! How about you? :) |
astrophe - about to dig around here for some chamomile right now!! I know its in here. Can't hurt. thanks! and way to goo on the workout, I'm going to have to keep up with you. Some IS better than none! yesss
|
I just had a cup of chamomile myself :) Honestly, I think I'll have to put milk in it next time. Didn't really care for it.
14.7 miles, not bad at all! I miss bike riding, it's been years. I've been thinking of dusting mine off and getting new tires and a seat for it. |
Hope everybody's weekend was good. Seems like i've reached a weight loss plateau.. Haven't lost anything over the last 2 weeks.. but before that it had been good. I had been watching the calories but iffy on the workouts.
I guess that's key.. to just GO WORKOUT! Have a good week everybody.... WORKOUT!! |
Who's here this month?
I'm somewhat here.. I'm mostly in the 20's group How are you? Doing good so far.. having periods on time without meds!! What are you working on? trying to lose weight, been doing good considering I have PCOS How's your PCOS management going? Great as far as I'm concerned.. have a yearly check up with the gyno tomorrow so ill double check that! but i think i have more hairs popping up on my chin! gross I was told the hair I had would always grow back but if my hormones were in line that would prevent new hair follicles.. so I don't understand :( |
Hi torn!
No need to be shy here :) ! Great idea for your bike. I had to learn a little about bike gears and how to tune up a bike myself before i started riding. There are so many things that make it difficult to try new things. This summer I had to actually make a microscopically long to do list to get me to actually riding the darn thing. It looked like this: 1Get key to shed from mom 2Get bike out of shed 3Bring bike inside. 4check bike tires 5oil bike 6check bike brakes/chain 7learn why gears don't move (you tube!! is a girls best friend) 8test bike It took me, including all my mental resistance for exercising, about 2 weeks before my first ride up the block. But i felt so much better after. So worth the frustration of pushing myself to do it. :) I don't ride as much as I would like to so I'm happy to share when i do. Speaking of bike seats mine is not so comfortable either. It took me a while not feel sore after riding b/c of the seat...might have to invest in one too. |
Yes, pgh, I also believe working out is the key to losing weight. I've been watching my calories without working out, and my weight is barely moving. Good luck with working out! :)
JessicaRT Sounds like you're doing well! :) I hear ya about chin hairs. Bad enough I gotta wax my upper lip, does my chin have to be part of the party, too? Hopefully your doc can help you figure that one out tomorrow. chouchoubou Hehe. Yeah, I have a mini list in my head of things that would have to be done to get my bike working again. I think I might use the treadmill for now & then use the bike when I get down to about 250. You're absolutely right, though - Youtube! & Google. They're definitely my besties. I finally got myself to get on the treadmill today. 24 minutes at 2.5 mph = 1 mile. I want to try to do at least 15 minutes a day. Oh, and I'm not sure if it was the Chamomile, but I've spent a good portion of the day in the bathroom. I started getting sick to my stomach shortly after drinking it last night, and then I woke up having to run downstairs. Hah. I don't recall having a reaction like that to it last time. I was able to fall asleep last night, though. Today was rough for staying away from junk food. My little sister came home from her sleepover this morning.. with a box full of DOUGHNUTS! Then after my nap, I woke up to 3 bags of snacks on the table. Two bags of chips and a bag of cheesecurls. I ended up having 4 cheesecurls. NO ONE in this house should be eating any of that stuff! It's super hard to stay away when there's not much in the house. I think we're going food shopping tomorrow, though. Feeling good right now, though. Feels nice to have finally exercised. Time for dinner. |
t0rn -- Good job on treadmill! Don't worry about being shy or awkward. We're all friends here -- it's safe! :)
I don't much like chamomile myself. And if you are allergic to things like ragweed, chamomile's in the family so not good for you. But I find I can take Mighty Leaf Citrus Chamomile because the "fruity" hides the "grassy." pretty well. Chou -- WTG on the workout yourself! ;) pgh -- you can do it! Keep trying to bust through that plateau by shaking things up. :carrot: JessicaRT -- Nice to have you here! GL at the GYN tomorrow, ok? MY CHECK IN: I had a lovely low key weekend with the family. Got 4 workouts in this week. I managed to somewhat maintain all week during the "O" week of my cycle. I ate a little bit much dining out today when we went for Japanese so for the week I'm +500 calories total but that's easy enough to take down. All in all, it could have been much worse when I'm fighting off all these carb/sweets cravings! I had to keep walking away from the urge to get things like sweet tea (so easy to drink up lots of calories), cake, doughnuts... I kept telling myself "If you want one so bad tomorrow, have it then. Life is long, you don't HAVE to have it right this second...it will still be there...." and then I'd get busy with something else and not find myself thinking about it anymore. Tomorrow I have to decide what the soup of the week is going to be and get groceries... probably black bean soup. A. |
