I havent had the glucose test yet as i was in the middle of my diagnosis when i moved...my former doc said she suspected it becuase i cant seem to shift the weight, when i eat a diet with carbs im moody and slugish ALL the time and need to nap at least once a day in the afternoon

2 things. First, its important to remember that you should NOT be weighing yourself. As you exercise, you are turning fat into muscle. Muscle weighs much more then fat. Get a fat meter and fabric-measuring tape from the sewing department at Walmart. Measure your upper arms, under your breasts (where bottom of bra sits), upper legs, waist, belly and calves. You should see some changes. Then fat meter your upper arms, upper legs, hips and under armpits. This will tell you accurately what it happening. As you lose weight, you should feel less fat in the meter, but probably more skin, and by measuring, your arms, legs and calves should be getting smaller then bigger and under breasts, tummy and waist should be getting smaller.

Second, you may be in need of a dose increase. You didnt mention doseage you are on and exactly how long on it.

Lastly, I suggest getting to a Diabetes Center and getting a tailored diet for YOU by the registered dietician. Each PCOSer is different and has different needs.

Dont eat when hungry, eat when slightly hungry. And then only each small portions. Should be eating 5 small meals a day. Nuts help the metabolism. If you wait until you are really hungry, you are allowing your metabolism to fluctuate too much and not working as it should to help you get rid of it. At hunger, the metabolism is slowed and takes a while to be rev'd back up to do its job. So keeping it going constantly is good. Nuts also help metabolism.

HTH!

I just purchased the Glucose revolution today at barnes and nobles. Maybe you should take a look at it---It's very interesting reading and will teach you about controlling blood sugar. It's all about the glycemic index. debyj

Toryah, Hopeful Spirits is right! I was frustrated when I didn't lose on my last doctor's visit, but I lost 3 inches on my waist and .5 on my hips. I was happy again!

Are you eating enough? I don't know what portion sizes you are eating, but your menu looks kinda small to me!

Thank you!

Im not actually on glucophage yet but thinking about it now...maybe thats where im going wrong, i try not to snack and force myself to wait untill meal times and by then im usually really hungry!

My portions arnt really that big as i just dont have such a big appetite at all...how about if i cut my 3 meals a day into 5 like HopefulSpirits mentioned and then i may keep myself at a regular level rather than not eating and then stuffing myself with food
Yikes why is there so much to learn, im printing stuff out all the time from the internet about PCOS, inslin, food intake etc but i just feel so overwhelmed sometimes u know???

thanks so much, i really appreciate it!!

Oh, Im sorry, I thot you WERE on gluc. Anyway, YES glucXR makes ALL the difference in the world. See right now, you are helping your body but not slowing the aging of the PCOS. As you age, so does the PCOS. As PCOS ages, it gets worse, UNLESS treated.

GlucophageXR TREATS PCOS. So yes, I seriously think you should get on it as soon as possible. Its truely a miracle drug! This will treat the PCOS, help your body to normalize to be ABLE to process those foods you eat.

Yes, dont starve yourself. If you are hungry, eat! EAT! EAT!!! Its so important to eat. Like I said, eating, HEALTHY of course, will keep the metabolism going thus helping you to burn the sugars and fat off. Cant burn the fat until you burn out the sugars.

I eat a good granola bar (watching the carbs of course), a banana and a glass of milk for breakfast. I do this because its fast and on the go (I work). I eat a snack several hours later, then I come home at 1 and eat again. I eat again at about 4 and then supper at 6. I sometimes have something else to eat before bed. (Not very wise but for me, I need to). Mind you, I am not low carbing or switched to the DT2 diet yet. (I havent been able to yet) but Im constantly eating, healthy of course, but eating when I feel the need for food. I dont hold off, I dont starve. I feed my body which keeps my metabolism going. I have not gained any weight. Granted I havent lost any real weight yet eithe BUT Im not gaining it like I used to! I have maintained my weight with cycle flux of 5 pounds or so (meaning, give or take during cycling).

EAT! LOL Dont be afraid of food. Food is not your enemy and will not make you fat. Only the AMOUNT you eat and the KINDs of foods may.
