Paranoia?

  • Hey girls...
    I have a little issue....
Oh, hello to all of you I've never met!!!!
I have been around this site, mostly the low carb pages, so...
BUT. Lately I've been having some feminine issues....as in the bleeding will not stop...
I've read so many things about this PCOS, and for some reason I'm totally paranoid. I'm 24, and until this year have been relatively healthy. I realize it is probobly just the pill I'm on, but do you think that this is even a possibility? I have an appointment on Wed. of next week with my GYNO......would they look for something like this? I'm so scared honestly, and just really upset that this has been going on. it's just awful...
    any input will be great!
    thank you!!
  • Don't be worried about sounding paranoid! Most docs don't believe I have PCOS either, although I have the classic symptoms. If you have been on the pill for a while, say more than 3 months, then you really do need to consult your doc. They should be regulating the cycle, not making it worse! If it's the first 3 months you may be having breakthrough bleeding (I feel your pain! I am having it too!!) but a phone call to the doc is warranted. He had me double my dose for 7 days until it got under control, and it's working just fine. Good luck to you!
  • Also PJ you may want to ask your doc for a blood test and schedule an ultrasound to check your ovaries for cysts. Those are the two ways I know of for diagnosing PCOS.
  • Hey PJ, be sure and ask your gyno about PCOS. He/she might not automatically start looking into that. Depends on how up to date they are on it. I had a new family doctor, female, that I got aquainted with this year and while talking I told her I was insulin resistant, had PCOS and was taking Gluc. She just looked at me and blinked. No clue. Anyway, you might want to bring some PCOS print-outs from the web and circle all of your symptoms, that way you don't forget anything. Read the stickys that Jenniffer has posted here! Good stuff!

BTW, don't be paranoid about having PCOS. There are a lot more things that I would rather 'not have' than this! At least this answers a lot of questions for me, and teaches me how to get past the symptoms. What all symptoms do you have?
  • ok, thanks guys. I dont know really if i have official symptoms....the stubborn weight gain is def. one, and then the sporadic/heavy periods....I need to look at that list of symptoms again, but I think I had one or two more.....could just be coincidence, but....

  • Hey there...How did the appointment go? I hope well...please let us know how your doing.

  • Hey! I cant get in until Wed. of next week. I havent stopped any bleeding, and i'm really distraught.......it's affecting everything! My dieting, excercising, my whole attitude....
    I'll keep you posted though...
Thank you so much for the support!
    How is everyone here doing?
