well I will just post my menu today

12 oz ribeye steak with smidge of garlic butter

4 chicken thighs with little cajun seasoning

cans of sardines and bit of cheddar if wanted

40 min. high intensity exercise tape
1/2 high incline treadmill with little bit of hand weights thown in

maybe 1/2 trainer program on bike later if I need to move more.

I'm not a zero carber but I am a very low carber. Usually around 10-15 carbs a day. All from lettuce or green beans or coffee

B:Coffee/HWC/Splenda
L: Grilled chicken strips with a little cajun seasoning.
D: Not sure yet, but probably grilled NY Strip with butter and green salad or roasted green beans.

ZCA72 02-24-2016 12:54 PM

you are a VLC which is kinda close. truly to me anything under the 10 total carb range for the day is sure super duper LC.

rare on some days I do hit the 5-6 total carb range if I do a salad. but that is not the norm.

if you are limiting to a small LC veggie group with all your protein I think you are right in that ballpark with me.

I see you do the chicken in cajun seasoning. I also do my chicken thighs in cajun seasoning...YUM. one thing on chicken, I must add some spices cause regular old chicken is super unsatisfying to me.

you basically are following an Atkins induction menu....cool!

Yes, I'm going to stay close to the Atkins induction until I get 50 lbs off. Then I will try to add some nuts and maybe berries and see how I do.

I agree on the chicken. And, I like things a little spicy anyway.

I've changed up my dinner plans. I'm going to mix some shaved sirloin with a touch of onion and green pepper, with garlic powder and S&P and then melt provolone over it. Philly in a bowl.

Our stats look similar and you have done a fantastic job! I can't wait until I can get into the 1'somethings!

ZCA72 02-25-2016 05:28 AM

yes I need spicy to replace all the sweet I left behind :)

I love minced fresh garlic on my ribeye. just a smidge of it for taste. yum

That is exactly what I did. I floundered on Atkins Net 20 plan. I would try to climb the carb ladder a little and never worked. I would YO YO the lbs. & it drove me nuts :)

Then I stayed in original Atkins 1972 Induction. I lost so well on it. Just drop after drop, so fast the lbs came off and now I finally see the light of my goal area. that is how I walked into my zero carb plan. I would eat the limited salad and veg on the A72 Induction food list---then I noticed as days went by I dropped the salad and veggie and just ate protein. I am a meat hound to the ultimate max so this fit me so well.

Onederland is coming your way. When we eliminate the sugar from our systems, the body takes on its own new healthy process and great benefits come your way.

I love that even if the scale does not move, I lose inches. LC transforms a body into a leaner/meaner machine :) I finally have the collarbones coming out and I love seeing that LOL

ZCA72 02-26-2016 06:24 AM

----------easy day
1 hr. high incline treadmill

off to run errands and do chores and more I have to get finished

30 min. moderate intensity walk exercise tape with resistance bands

food is super simple: 2 ribeyes, 1 can sardines and chunk cheddar if wanted

so far so good. keeping on the straight and narrow and it seems to be what this old gal needs!

ZCA72 02-27-2016 07:31 AM

40 mins. high intensity exercise tape.
1/2 hr treadmill high incline

food is super simple: ribeye with garlic butter. dinner? hmm...buffalo chicken wings or crab legs or big old monster cheeseburger patty. 1 can of sardines and some chunk cheddar if wanted.

ZC ALL THE WAY BABY!! :) :)

ZCA72 02-28-2016 07:49 AM

exercise tape (easy one with hand weights)
treadmill, just 1/2 hr with high incline

lunch is big old cheeseburger patty OR 2 pork chops
dinner is big old ribeye
can of sardines/chunk cheddar if wanted

ZCA72 02-29-2016 05:23 AM

exercise tape with hand weights this morning

treadmill later some time in the day when I can fit it in

simple food. ribeye steak for lunch
dinner, hmm, maybe a bunch of crab legs and butter for dip
if not crab then probably couple of pork chops with cajun seasoning
can of sardines and chunk cheddar if wanted
not sure what I want...just not hungry at all so will decide later.

nothing like extreme keto to keep the hunger at bay. alot of protein helps!

melissakd 02-29-2016 11:11 AM

Hi ZCA72 Still on plan over here today. Been eating a lot of steak so trying to get in more fish and chicken. I ended up being out at the river longer than I intended on Saturday and ended up eating a handful of cashews since that is what was available. So I'm not going to weight until wednesday~!

Today will be the usual
B: Coffee/HWC/Spelnda
L: Leftover baked pork chop
D: Probably bake flounder with green beans or a lettuce salad.

ZCA72 02-29-2016 12:40 PM

ah a handful won't hurt ya----it is when you eat the entire can when you meant to take only an ounce, now that hurts ya LOL

nice menu

I am flirting with having a salad. but ya know, I can't bring myself to make one! I want it one sec, then the next I think, why bother when I can have bacon and eggs :) :)

melissakd 02-29-2016 01:03 PM

I do kinda have to make myself eat the green salad. But, the dressing is a way of getting more fat. Tracking my food, I am still getting more protein than fat and I'm trying to fix that.

ZCA72 03-01-2016 06:36 AM

I just eat 2 times a day. fits me. I count nothing. protein, fat, no counting calories. nada

I eat as much protein as I need and throw on as much fat as I want.

I was overeating protein a ton when I started. then as time went by (almost a year on ZC eating) I just naturally cut back. I didn't want as much. I guess the body has found its more normal eating regimen I guess cause I am just not as hungry at all. I am never 'really hungry'....I get that 'empy tank' feeling and have to re-fuel.

I am changing my eating patterns in ways I never thought I could :)

ZCA72 03-05-2016 03:34 PM

10 oz ribeye with butter

3 very thin pork chops, cajun seasoning

done for the day---just not hungry

:) :) in my wildest dreams 'just not hungry' are words I never spoke, now I say it all the time LOL

Liliann 06-02-2016 07:02 AM

Hi FinallyFree, visiting, but hoping to be a joiner... I've been doing ZC for a couple of weeks & think I'm getting the hang of it... mostly I've been eating hamburgers without the bun, bacon, eggs, & turkey or chicken... I downloaded a ZC cookbook to my Kindle & got some new ideas, so I'll be trying a few of them this weekend...

Just a little about me, I'm a 67-year-old woman & I live in Texas... looking forward to learning more about this amazing way of eating & hoping it'll get me from my current 200 lbs. down to 140 by my birthday next April...

Do you exercise?.. I used to, but I'm afraid I've let it slide lately... thinking of taking it up again, I know I'd feel better if I were a bit more active...

FinallyFree 09-09-2016 01:09 AM

Hello Fleming,

Nice to meet you. I'm also going to ease in some exercise. With changes like this radical enough without stressing the body and mind with too much change. But I ended up doing the intermittent fasting with this and am feeling GREAT! No kidding.

Just ease in, and make it fit you. I'm going to try and be very hard core on this (except a few days during vacation) until the end of November. I've been bouncing between 170 and 194 for year's but just today saw 169 on the scale,,,,,,,,Yeeeee,,,,, A Landmark....

Hope you join me. :) I don't plan to eat this way forever, but I'm feeling good right now and it's working for me. :carrot:

REVIVING this THREAD!!

Hi there anyone who's interested in jumping on the band-wagon for ZERO CARB!!??

I'm going to give it a two-week run :carrot:

My goal is to feel LESS PAIN! I read one person said their feet stopped hurting when they got out of bed - and that hooked me!

My plan for the day is:

B: 2 eggs w/dried chives / coffee with dry creamer
L: chicken breast
D: steak

Yes, I know and read somewhere that you're not to have coffee and that eggs have carbs --- also the dry creamer isn't probably a good thing -- it's what I have. I could eat the lemon curd and olives and beautiful yellow pepper I have in the frig -- so, this is a start!

ENJOY your day

BelovedWarrior 07-24-2017 09:47 AM

Day 1 completed -- 13 more to the experiment

Hi

So, how did day 1 go - you might ask?? Not bad--

For breakfast I had 2 eggs / coffee / and powdered creamer (yes, I am aware that eggs have .5 carbs and they suggest no coffee, and I'm sure powdered creamer is taboo -- but, it's a beginning).

Lunch was the breast portion - about 6 oz - of a rotisserie chicken from the grocery store. I'd intended to cook up the bones and remaining meat in water for broth -- but I was in a hurry and left it sit out -- so, it was tossed.

Dinner (or Supper) was a 5 oz steak and 5 pieces of bacon - I also had about 1 1/2 tablespoons of mayonnaise.

I had a hunk of white extra sharp cheddar cheese for a snack.

I drank only water (other than the coffee as mentioned).

I wasn't hungry -- had a little nigglin' at about 9ish -- but nothing much.

LittleBlueCat 07-24-2017 10:26 AM

To me it is So Hard to stay totally on zero carb/keto, since I just love fruit! I absent minded added a banana into my morning shake, and already gone over the carb limit... boo.

BelovedWarrior 07-24-2017 11:37 PM

Hi Nancy, nice to meet you. I like your kitty... and yes, I agree Indiana is the crossroads of America :) it is for me at least ... I'm in Wisconsin.

I hear you about fruit and I love some specific veggies too (cukes, tomatos, onions, mushrooms, cauliflower rice and cabbage are my main go to). But, I'm only trying this out for 2 weeks to see if my pain level diminishes. If it does -- well, I then have a decision to make as to continuing or just adding slowly and see if something sparks pain again. I read one lady stated that after one week, her feet didn't hurt any longer when she got out of bed. OH MY!! That would be heaven in my world! So ... we are on a wait and see journey.

How long have you been trying zero carb? I haven't read that much about it yet. It sounds like you are using shakes for some of your protein. Do you have any tricks or tips you'd like to share?

Best of -- well, I don't want to say luck, because luck didn't get us overweight and it's not going to get us healthy weight either ... so I guess I'll say -- BEST OF HEALTH to you. It's HARD work, but WELL WORTH it!!

Enjoy your night -

Day 2 - completed!

Howdy

Day 2 went well.

For breakfast I had 2 eggs / coffee / half n half / 8 oz ribeye.

Then, I was running around and at about 1:15pm - I stopped at the "good" butcher shop (been in business for over 100 years) and picked up smoked salmon, breakfast links, grass fed ground chuck, and a T-bone :) I was getting really hungry and I still had a few stops to make before I could get home and cook something, so the butcher (God Bless him) gave me a beef stick for the road. Too nice!!

Lunch/Supper was 8 oz grass fed ground beef fried up in bacon grease, garlic powder, turmeric, cumin, chili powder, salt & pepper, Worcestershire sauce, and yellow mustard ... yum yum!! Probably some carbs in a few of those spices/sauces ... but, it worked

I have a few lamb roasts in the freezer, so I thawed one out and baked it for tomorrow - I was a little hungry, so -- I did eat about 3 oz of that for a snack. and then I also had a hunk of white extra sharp cheddar cheese for a snack.

I drank only water (other than the coffee as mentioned).

I wasn't hungry -- AND!! my left knee, which has been bothering me very badly for a week - the IT band has tightened up and I have a lot of inflammation in the knee ... well, the pain has subsided and I was able to move around pain free later in the day. SO!! I was able to get my dishes done, because I could stand!! Hallelujah!

Day 3 - completed!

Good Morning

Day 3 went well.

For breakfast I had 2 eggs / tea / ACV & beef gelatin / 3 sausage links (yum)

I had part 1 of a 2 part stress test ... so I had 6 pieces of bacon before leaving for that. But, once I got there I realized they did and injection and then I come back in an hour. So, she'd asked if I'd had lunch yet and I said no - so I went to Hardee's and got their charbroiled chicken breast with mayo. I didn't eat the bun. (Pricey for what I got).

When I got home I had some smoked salmon, and then I cooked up a T-bone. It was nearly a pound! I ate that and was very satisfied

When I started to feel hungry I a smaller hunk of white extra sharp cheddar cheese for a snack.

I drank only water and the tea mentioned above.

I wasn't hungry -- my left knee wasn't sore. I had a massage later in the afternoon. I didn't get anything done around the house that I wanted to - maybe today....

Today, my feet still hurt when I get up in the AM or when I get out of a chair. Also, my stomach is feeling a few pains. I slept almost 9 hours and could go back to sleep. Very groggy, but then again -- it is hump-day .... and I'm hungry!! :)

Day 4 - completed

Good morning ... almost afternoon :) Thanks for the encouragement Sundove!

Yesterday went very well... and I'm down another 2 pounds! I ate very low calories, but I just wasn't hungry - so I would have had to force feed myself if I ate more. I also had some temptations - but did not give in to my sabotaging thoughts.

For breakfast I had 1 egg / ACV & beef gelatin / 3 sausage links (yum)

Lunch was smoked salmon, and that was all. I'd planned to have some lamb too, but I just was not needing it.

Supper was fried, in bacon grease, Italian chicken sausage with 2 T of very very low carb pasta sauce. Really didn't need it as it didn't add anything ... could have even taken away from the good taste of the sausage.

I had a small hunk of white extra sharp cheddar cheese for a snack.

I drank only water and coffee after my stress test, cuz now I can have caffeine again ... love love love coffee.

I wasn't hungry --

I could have gotten up at 4am today, but opted to stay in bed until 7 :) On the move, getting things done around my home to prep to sell it ...

BelovedWarrior 07-28-2017 09:32 AM

Day 5 - a little difficult

Good Morning!

Well, day 5 was a small challenge. I had an event at 5pm - that went to 7pm. So, I went hungry. I also had a piece of gum (that's a no-no) because I didn't want to offend anyone with my breath  seriously though -- and it tasted SOOOOO GOOOD! I chew gum often!

So, by the time we got our food last night it was 8pm. AND, where we ate out didn't have many options for me (Famous Dave's). So, I ordered the brisket sandwich, no bun, and naked. I gave my side to my friend. I had about 4 oz of meat in front of me. That was it... $14 after tip :( Not gonna do that again! Actually I tipped too much, but I'd already signed the credit card slip so... oh well; I was able to bless someone :)

When I got home I was very very hungry. I'm sure zero-carb gurus would frown on this - I had a quest zero-carb protein shake. My carbs for the day were 11.7g - hence... no weight change. I'm okay with that, as today is another day (Thank God!)

For breakfast I had 2 egg and shredded lamb (not so great - too much lamb), coffee and dry creamer

Lunch was Trader Joe's (TJ) roasted chicken patty, 6 small olives, mayo... (again not too great, but I wasn't hungry after I ate it so I guess it accomplished it's purpose)

Supper was mentioned above.

And, then I had the shake as my snack. I also had a low-fat string cheese.

I drank only water and coffee as mentioned above.

I need to go to the meat market so to have more options in the house. I did just go through the freezer and pulled out some beef roast, steak, and elk. Everything looks a little freezer burned -- so, we'll see. May be a few more "eck" meals... but, this too will pass.

TODAY - I WAS hungry.

Still on the move, getting things done around my home to prep to sell it ... hopefully I'll be home ALL day today and tomorrow :crossed:

Neko 07-28-2017 01:09 PM

I keep my carbs low, less than 25G, but I'm not sure I could handle no carb. How are you feeling on it?

Eating out is the worst when low carbing. You feel like you're paying for a whole bunch of food to be left off your plate.

BelovedWarrior 07-28-2017 07:42 PM

Hi Neko - I'm actually doing quite well. Rarely hungry. And loving the food. Oh, don't get me wrong I miss my veggies and fruit... but for now, it's working. It's already 6:30 and I'm going to be eating in a bit (typically I eat around 4 - 4:30). I'm planning to have bacon and crab sticks with butter. I did a bit of research before I started and when I read a lady's feet didn't hurt when she got out of bed in the morning - I thought ... OK! I'm trying this.

How is the low carb going for you? I did South Beach from Feb 2016 - Oct 2016 and lost 60 pounds. I intended to stay doing that as a life style but jumped in the deep end of the pool and played with bad choices. It is my goal to do SB as a way of life. It is doable :)

ENJOY your weekend.

Neko 07-28-2017 09:43 PM

My feet only hurt after chasing my 6 year old around an amusement park all day.:D

I'm doing Atkins for low carb. It's been going fairly well, although my loss has drastically slowed the last few months. My carbs are mainly from vegetables, no fruit. I just can't seem to bring myself to have an extra 5-10 carbs from berries. Although I do occasionally indulge in yogurt for a few extra carbs.

South Beach can be a great diet. But I found that I stopped losing weight when I added back in any type of carb that wasn't a fruit. It's a great idea for maintenance.

BelovedWarrior 07-29-2017 09:29 AM

Neko - if you have some recipes you like - I'd love to see them :) BEST of luck and success with your weight loss. :dancer:

BelovedWarrior 07-29-2017 09:59 AM

Day 6 - completed

Good Morning!

Well, day 6 - odd... and I did an oops without realizing it -- so losing it says I had only 820 but I think I figured something incorrectly...

Also one of the things I planned for supper tended to be high in carbs, unknown to me -- hence, no change in weight -- but NO GAIN either.

For breakfast I had 2 eggs and ham with coffee and dry creamer. The ham was from the freezer and it had freezer burn and it was kinda icky... so, I ate only about 2/3 of it -- and I threw away the meat. I don't like wasting food, but I don't want to eat ucky stuff either.

Lunch was again a bit of a rush, and I got hungry and needed to find something quickly - so, I thought gyros meat. So, I got it - but I think that it's much higher in calories and carbs than I recorded.

Supper was 3 pieces of bacon - from the butcher shop (lip smacking) and 3 imitation crab sticks - which was high carbs than I thought.

I didn't have any snack.

I drank only water and coffee as mentioned above.

TODAY - I was NOT hungry.

Still on the move, getting things done around my home to prep to sell it ... I will be home ALL day today

Here are the stats so far -

7/23 WI 258.8 start date
7/24 WI 256.6 -2.2

7/29 WI 252.8 no change

Calories: 820
Fat: 47.8g 53.6%
Protein: 72.4g 36.1%
Carb: 20.7g 10.3%

That's good as my plan is to stay in the range of 60% Fat / 40% Protein

On to DAY 7

Neko 07-29-2017 05:26 PM

That imitation krab is a killer with carbs. You think it's meat, but I think it's mostly filler. That's probably why it's so cheap. Don't feel bad, I probably just ate too many carbs because lunch was cottage cheese. I went out to run errands and didn't feel like cooking something for lunch at 4 pm.

I wish I had recipes to share, but they never work out for me. I either hate it and throw away the whole batch or I love it and eat way too much. Most meals for me are plain. Grilled/Roasted meat and vegetables for dinner. Lunch is usually tuna & salad or eggs. Breakfast is coffee, the best breakfast there is. :coffee:

BelovedWarrior 07-30-2017 07:52 PM

Completed day 7 - and stopping ZERO CARB today (day 8)

Neko - I'm heading back to the Beach - South Beach that is! :carrot:

I'm done with zero-carb. If you want a place that is very proactive and connected, jump over to http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/weig...e-welcome.html

I have stopped zero-carb after one week.
Yes, I lost weight :)
Not sure about inches ... I would only assume so.
Had a few complications today -- so, I need to go back on a low-carb way of life.

GOOD LUCK to anyone who tries zero-carb.

Neko 07-31-2017 12:02 PM

South Beach is a great diet; very sustainable in the long term.

Zero carb is just too much for most people. It excludes so many foods that a daily menu is hard to stick to. I find that too much meat and fat gives me stomach issues. I even have to watch that on Atkins or I spend the whole evening in the bathroom.

Meat, om nom nom!

Hi FinallyFree!

I just started this Monday a very, very low-carb diet after mostly following a low-cal low-carb plan after my November 2017 WLS. I found that I was straying into too many bad carbs territory too often these days, and I needed to get that *beep* under control! I read with interest the all-meat "carnivore" diet claims around the 'net, at MeatHeals.com and I watched the excellent videos by Dr. Anthony Gustin, DC (Chiropractor & functional medicine specialist):The Real Reasons Why The Carnivore Diet Works (12 minutes) and the longer video,

My Carnivore Diet Results and Q&A (5.5 Weeks Eating ONLY MEAT) (52 minutes).

Amber O'Hearn is great too: She has a couple websites:
Amber's keto website: The Ketogenic Diet for Health
Amber's personal/carnivore website: Empirica -- One stand-out post is My Carnivorous Diet.

I used to be a vegetarian in the late 1990s/early 2000s so meat has a bit of a gross-out factor to me, but I am getting over that and even grilled some ribeye steaks this Monday as a way to start off this WOE with a bang, ha!

So far, I have lost 5.8 pounds in just 4 days and I feel GREAT. I have high energy, no hunger, no more stuffed-up nose, skin breakouts are healing, less joint pain in knees and hands, and this part surprised me the most, no problems going to the bathroom, haha! I thought getting zero fiber would turn me into cement, but apparently not, everything is normal. Huh! I am really digging this so far. Cooking is super easy: grilled steak, pan-fried ham, roasted chicken breast, steamed fish, sometimes with ghee, mustard or hot sauce. I'm drinking lots of water, some coffee (sometimes with heavy cream) and tea. I thought it would be really expensive but it's not because I don't eat much and I am not buying any "extras" like veggies, fruits or cheese (or *cough* croissants at the coffee shop!). Ok, the ribeye steaks were $$$ but that was a rare splurge! ;)
