Aunt Sheshie - one last Lobsterfest! We don't have Red Lobster nearby... I haven't been tempted by eating out yet really. Going to do lunch with the hubbie today but I told him I wanted to go to a BBQ place where I could just pick up a pound of beef. We have skipped eating out for a few months. Hubbie doesn't seem to mind, he has a night with friends every Saturday and enjoys eating his junk then.
I got a new scale that does body fat measurement. I used it today and it's weighing me a pound less, I'll take it! haha. So I'm 152.4 today. I was 153.4 on the old scale. My body fat percentage is at 37.5%. I was over 40% last week on the Ideal Protein scale, so it seems to be measuring down as well. But I am watching that percentage more for movement, not absolute accuracy. I think I am on track to hit the 140's by my birthday, Oct 1. But, I am going to start working on some body weight exercises for strength. If I add some muscle and don't lose weight I'll be ok with that too. Really, as long as I'm not gaining I'm happy. My mood is great lately and my energy is pretty decent too! |

My bacon burger yesterday for lunch was sooooo good... today I grilled a couple of little steaks, but they weren't as tasty as the burger... I've bought lots more ground beef, some pork chops, turkey chops, fish of some kind (flounder, I think), ham, bacon, & some cold cuts... my freezer is the fullest it's ever been!.. still strange to not be having a salad or some kind of veggie, but I'm sure I'll soon get over that feeling... |
Well I'm slinking back and saying "Today is the first day of the rest of my Diet" Yes, I slipped into the PB jar and a few other places. I'm now refocused.
It looks like you all are focused. I will say concerning going out to eat, I have found it to be easy with this plan. Chillies has some great wings and just ask them to hold the sauce. A lot of places have great burgers, just let someone else eat the other stuff on the plate. Or bring it home for DH to eat later. BBQ places are great and Gengis Grill, if you have one in the area. Breakfast places, but watch the omelets, some of them have added carbs. Looking forward to our scales going down. I'm just a little afraid of looking right now. |
Aunt Sheshie - How was your first day? I appreciate your optimism for my weight loss, but would be surprised if it goes that fast.... I usually average 1.5 to 1.75 pounds lost a week, but not sure what to expect on this zero-carb. I must say I was 152.0 this morning, so it does seem to be dropping. I like to remain skeptical, we will see who is right!
Finally Free - it happens... was it emotional? were you feeling like your eating was too restricted? Not planning? I'm a daily weigher and try and keep it up through the slips ups. Look at it as just a datapoint more than anything else. I have an app that generates a trend line and shows when I should meet my goal. The trend took a turn for the worse during my last slip up but is heading in the right direction now. Lunch out was good, but after didn't go well. I ordered a pound of meat and ate about 1/3 of it for lunch. Brought it to work with me to snack on later, but dang boredom eating means I ate nearly all of it within 2 hours. I felt awful and was quite nauseaus around 6 pm. I laid down for about 20 mins and was mostly recovered. I didn't eat the rest of the day. I stayed zero-carb.... but I need to be more mindful of actually being hungry. The over eating didn't hurt my weight (since I'm down) but I know I would feel better if I stopped when I am no longer hungry. I'm considering going more moderate keto once I make it through all the ground beef I cooked up this week? I hate questioning my methods all the time, which is why I was happy to pay for Ideal Protein for 2 months. I knew it was working and I didn't have to think about it. But Hubby isn't working and the costs were starting to be too much. Sigh. |

Aunt Sheshie,
Hang in there and eat if your hungry. Try some beef such as slow roasted in a crock pot. That will help you get into deep ketosis. It is really satisfying. Also, I thought there was an h in Genghis. Desirae, thanks for getting me to think of the why I slipped up. This time it wasn't emotional at all, it was habit. When DH is off work, we are used to fun eating and I am going to have to really plan for those days. I do much better when he is at work. I may just stop eating cheese on his work days and then introduce them like a snack on his off days. His next days off are next week for three days in a row. I may count my calories also on his work days and then not count on his off days, that way I'll feel a lot less restricted. I will be honest, I am not craving any off plan foods right now and want to keep this momentum. I did brave the scale today and have a 1 pound gain for my punishment from over doing it, plus eating off plan. But getting back in the saddle wasn't hard, so onward and downward I go. I went and reread some of the blog myzerocarblife and felt really inspired yesterday. She was very simple in her diet. |

I love that blog too... I read the whole thing a few days ago & think I'll go through it again today &/or tomorrow... |
I really understand that Aunt Sheshie,
I do the same thing, not hungry I just want something with carbs. I'm trying to steer myself to something at least not to carby when I fall off plan. Sometimes it works.....Sometimes not. Desirae, I have just got a book for exercising, and in the back it says goals and excuses. I like that. I need to really look at what make me cheat with eating, so I can stop it. Sometimes it is just random reasons and sometimes just habit, sometimes sadness (that I'm on a diet) sometimes gladness. Sometimes celebrations, some times just plan ole irritations. The list goes on and on. I must offer myself something else to goto. Perhaps crocheting. |
FinallyFree - I really like your ideas on making the time with the husband feel more free/treat-like. I might do something like that for myself.
Ok - I must admit I haven't been zero-carbing since last week.... It wasn't clicking and I had a few too many stomach aches and I was happy to go back to regular keto. I think I was eating too fast sometimes or maybe not chewing enough? What's odd is I've been pretty much zero-carb today though. Hubby got a smoker over the weekend and made up 15 pounds of pork shoulder and have been eating that a lot since we have so much meat to get through. Although I have added back artificial sweeteners. My weight is going up and down but staying under 155. I think I'm good as long as I am not gaining. I just lost 15 pounds and it was enough to make me comfortable in my clothes and wear lots of things I couldn't wear for a long time. So maybe just staying where I am at for now is good enough. I am just a few workouts into the program I picked out and I am happy to know i am getting stronger! I haven't fallen back to carbs, which is nice. Although I really wanted some carbs last night, think more because of stress than anything else. Once the kids were in bed I demanded my husband spend some time with me one on one and that helped with the stress mode in my head a lot! Well - I'm sure I'll still stop by and say hi. I may try ZC again soon, or do it a few times a week. We shall see. :) |
desirae,
Thanks for stopping by to give an update. I am just trying to stabilize now also, I want to start heading down again, but I wobble a lot in sticking with the ZC also. It is my goal so I will keep updating my thread occasionally. I just think it may become more sustainable for me the more I succeed at it. I did that 30 day challenge and lost 10 pounds with 3 big cheat days. That really inspired me to keep going. Plus I feel so much better. I saw your exercise thread and may join you. I think I have that same book in my library. I'll blow off the dust and check it out. |
To Whom it may concern,
I'm switching to Medifast for a few. I'll be back here on and off. I'll probably rotate this with zero carb..... Cheers, FinallyFree |
Is that low carb? I'm convinced I can't lose weight unless I do a program but it's not really in my budget right now.
|
It is a program and it is costy. But I have a lot left over from my husbands diet and we may as well use them up.
there are others that are like it but cheaper. Just google medifast and medifast cheaper versions. Sometimes you can get it a lot cheaper by buying it though ebay or craigslist. Just be careful to meet in a public place with a friend with you if you go through craigslist. |
I have been looking for the 'easy' keto button and think I have found it with something called KetoChow, which is basically a protein powder plus other good things your body needs. You can buy it or make it, and I'll probably be making it. I just want an easy breakfast/lunch option and I think this is it. We have 60 days until Thanksgiving. Could be another 10 pounds gone for me. Anywho - guess this isn't zero carb tho.
finallyfree - will you be documenting your progress elsewhere? AuntieSheshie - how how have you been? I'll probably be cruising the low carb boards still and tracking my workouts on the fitness boards. Good luck to all! |
Hi Desirae,
I'll be here, and at the carb sensitive thread and medifast and your exercise thread. So I'm all over the place. Basically whatever I do diet wise, will be low to no carb. We are all in the same camp. We can use all the support we can get, and for me it's fun to switch it up. I don't think my body minds if I up my carbs to even as High as 100, as long as I don't go to high. I'd like to stay in ketosis though. That would mean more like, only up to 50 carbs. But I like the freedom of having a few carbs occasionally and not considering myself to be a bad girl. Here's my report on my medifast day. Ouch! I went up to 75 carb and 1500 calories. I had aimed for 1000 calories, but I was just hungry so I ate some more protein and fat. That helped. I do believe upping the carbs kicked in the hunger. With Zero Carb, it's just a mental craving and not actual hunger or real cravings. Today I'm zero carb and loving it. I may just check out your stuff too. Tell me how you like it. Todays menu is: shrimp and butter hamburger with munster cheese curried egg salad Aunt Sheshie, are you doing ok? What's new in your camp? |
yesterdays plan almost made it zero carb, then I had that big desire for PB, that happens to me to much. So instead I ate some hummus for about 20 carb worth. It was wonderful. but if I want it I do need to measure it.
For 2 tbls. it is only 5 carbs and 80 calories. Pb is 190 calories and 7 carbs. I never level the tbls. Which is the only way to be honest. But I'm going to start now. Cheaters don't lose weight. Unfortunately I am currently working on getting back to the 170 I had achieved. I'm up to 173. |
Ok, I made it through a day with 0 carb,,,,hope to see a lose tomorrow. I've been working my way down on the carbs. I actually didn't want any today. Yea!
|
I'm fine... thanks for asking,FinallyFree... I've been in Colorado with my mom... no Internet or cellular service... anyway, I didn't do ZC while I was there, but thought I'd start again when I got home... you know about the best laid plans, they sometimes go awry... anyway, I think I'm going to go off plan just a bit, I miss salads!.. not every day, maybe 2 or 3 times a week... the rest of the time I'll be ZC... I doubt I'll eat any other veggies, just lettuce, maybe cauliflower & celery... & sometimes avocado... I think it's something I have to do to keep from going off completely...:dizzy:
 |
Hey Aunt Sheshie,
Well I'm trying to hit zero carb daily, but I figure anywhere near the bullseye will do. Today it looks like I'm gonna be at the 10 carb area. I found the PB jar.:o So 2 tablespoons is 7 carbs right there. No to mention the calories. Then I also had a little keto dessert that added up to about 10 carbs total. The rest of the day I'm aiming for no more carbs and light on the calories. Tomorrow I will try again to hit zero carb. I'm not missing the salad. For me it's the creamy stuff. I need a back up plan that isn't as calorie dense as PB. Glad to see you and hope you had a nice time with your Mom. Most likely your Mom would have freaked out if you would have been eating zero carb around her. |

Still working today on getting my mind in gear for nearly-ZC... hopefully, tomorrow will the first day back... |
Hi Aunt Sheshie,
tomorrow will be my day too. I'm closing this day with 20 whopping carbs. The way I figure though, it's better than 200. I'm still in ketosis. my Mom is so freaked out about this kind of diet. When I told her about the Ketogenic diet, all she kept saying to me, everyway possible is about her doctor telling her to stay away from cheese. Well I found it's better to not eat or talk about cheese with mom. I'm not about to tell her, now I don't want to do ANY carbs,,,,I think she might have be committed for my own safety. LOL |
Hello all! Wanted to check in. :) I am low-carbing along. Had a date night with the hubby last night so I had some not great sips and bites of things, but it didn't go overboard and I'm back on track today. Usually something like that derails me. I am working to just maintain no-tracking low carb. I have been playing with trying to reduce calories and it felt like I was going nowhere and I was hungry so I recently decided to just eat if I was hungry! My weight is still very stable at 155/6. I can live with that for now. I am happy with keto as a way of life, not just a means to an end.
As for low carb with family - my mom and sister have both done it off and on so they are right there with me. :) Have a great weekend everyone! |
Hi Des,
so nice to see you. Yes, me too. Keto is the new normal for me. Zero Carb is my goal each day. I find that when I want to eat off zero, I'm still keto. Which isn't bad. That is what happen today. So tomorrow I aim again for zero. |
Well since I last posted here, nope, I haven't been zero carb. But I'm starting a rally here today. I want to make it to Wednesday with only zero carb. Now I am going with the eggs and cheeses not counting as carbs for they are in the animal kingdom. Although I will major on zero carb cheese.
I've got my bone broth made, and that will help a lot. |
September 17th,,,,start of rally,,,,172

I will try and recoup the loss, by going as low cal as I can today. Although if I'm really hungry I will eat. But I'm hoping to activate the Judd affect.
|
Judd effect? I must go google. I'm still pretty clean low carb, keto chow most of the time. Feeling like doing a loaded salad for lunch today though. My weight soooometimes dips but I have seriously been sitting at 155. Just stuck there. It's a good place to be stuck for now. I have been working out still and I'm pretty sure my clothes are starting to fit better and better.
I put myself on a 'no cheat October' and have done ok so far. I did have Wendy's Chili which is less keto than some options, but still way better than the fries I could have had! I'm determined to be happy with where I'm 'stuck' for now. |
 Howdy y'all!.. just thought I'd drop in for a minute... my diet is a shambles, I'm embarrassed to say, my stress level has gone through the roof... I found out last week I have "baby cataracts" in my eyes & will most likely need to have surgery eventually... it's not urgent, but just the thought of it is making me a basket-case... I'm going back to the eye doc Monday to have my eyes dilated so she can get a good look at the situation... I'm hoping she'll tell me I can wait 'til next April & May to have the surgeries... if she agrees, I can relax & concentrate on ZC again...
It looks like everybody is doing well... I'll check in again when I have a clearer picture of what's gonna happen with me & my baby blues........... |
Auntie Sheshie - how stressful! Sorry for the less than optimal news about your eyes. I don't know anything about cataracts... Hopefully it is something that can be dealt with without a lot of uncertainty? Thanks for stopping in, try and find other ways to deal with the stress too. Walks? Time with friends?
HUGS! |
Hey Ladies,
Aunt Sheshie, they have dealing with cataracts down pat. Don't sweat it, I've known lots of folks to have the surgery and it really works out well. Your life will brighten up..... |
Hope everyone is having a nice Thanksgiving.
I celebrate mine tomorrow, so I thought I'd start this zero carb back up again today and start becoming more accountable. I will zero at least 5 days a week and low carb when dh is off work. I've been bouncing between 170 and 176 for a while now. Start weight: 173 November 26 173 |
ok, thanksgiving got me off track, but I'm back down to 171

Navigating vacations and holidays,,,will report in again on the 15th. hoping to not go up |
Hi! Happy New Year!
I am back on Ideal Protein. It did the trick for the last 15 pounds so I'm hoping for the next 15 to go that way as well. I started up before the holidays, but got a little loose around the holidays. I didnt' gain over the holiday time though, so that's a plus! I'm back down to my magic low of 152. I will do cartwheels once I get below 150 for sure! Just wanted to check in and say HI!!! |
Hey Happy New Year to you Des,
Glad to hear your on a plan and takin it off. I'm getting back to it myself. But i'll be including some carbs, but still keeping them low. I didn't do to much damage over the holidays, but no loss for sure..... |
HI ALL, new to the forum and would love to chat ZC with everyone!
Zero Carb eater here!! nice to see a thread where people don't need or want carbs. I do however reserve the right to go up to 5-6 total carbs per day....only if desperate in a situation where I have to eat a small salad :) my 5-6 total carb option is very rare if I ever use them. I am 0 carb and stick to 0 carb. other than that event, I am 100% ZC eater at this point. have been for over 300 days. LOVE it so much and I feel SO good it is scary. being super carb sensitive 0 is where I do best. |
