I'd love to have a salad over any snack bar anytime! Unfortunately, munching it in the threatres or in class would get me in trouble!

Mmmmm, salad. I eat lots of salads. But since I'm not a big fan (jeez, I'm not a fan of anything these days, lol) of salad greens (romaine and all that other gross stuff) I always put fresh baby spinach in my salads to boost the nutrient value. Yes, you guessed it, I'm an iceberg lettuce junkie. I don't like romaine and "field greens" and all that other nasty crap. So I mix iceberg and baby spinach together.

Normally my mom does all the shopping for the house, but last time I got myself into an experimental mood and decided to try all these random greens my mom would never try. Unfortunatley, for some reason, I can't tell the difference between what's fresh and what's not (unless it's brown with flies circling it) and bought different kinds of lettuce that happened to be wilted or began wilting the next day. I almost chocked on the salad I made, it was all soft and eergh...

I wish I could just eat whatever I want and not have to worry about my weight I'm sick of chugging V-8 with my nose blocked and a pack of gum waiting to rid the taste. I'm sick of having salads when what I really want is a muffin or something. *sigh*

Honey, weight loss is about eating fewer calories than your body burns, not about forcing yourself to eat stuff you don't like. That's why most people fail. They think they have to eat all this 'health' food that they don't enjoy. And that's just not true. I still eat the foods I love, I just make sure that whatever I eat is counted in with my calories for the day.

I never force myself to eat foods I don't like. And you shouldn't either.

This isn't a diet, it's a lifestyle change. That means PERMANENT changes that you can live with. I've lost over 80 pounds enjoying the things I eat.

I agree with LLV. I hate some foods and just don't eat them no matter how healthy they are. I do try new things. If I like it great. If I don't then it goes on my list of things I won't buy.

For this to be a permanent change so I can keep the weight off, my food needs to fit into my life. I enjoy eating and love food. Moderation and portion control are my best friends.

LLV and Chefbran, thanks for the advice. The thing is, I feel safer (or rather not-guilty is a better term) if I eat things that provide me the nutrients I need and won't cause a dent in my calorie limit. If not, I feel EXTREMLEY guilty. I think that if someone is allowed to have 2000 calories a day yet all he/she consumed was pizza, soda and junk, they would still gain weight. Calories in and out matter, yes, but so is what you put in your body. Moderation is important, unfortuantley I had to learn that the hard way. *shakes fist at belly fat*

ALTHOUGH, I just came back from the store and finally bought sugar-free popsicles...20 calories each. I'm eating one right now and I honestly, could not be any happier at the moment. I really don't know why I've never bothered to get them before. I must say, sweetners are probably the best thing man ever invented!
