Default Too much sugar?

Hey everyone I was wondering how much sugar everyone intakes in their diet. I don't eat anything with high fructose corn syrup or any of the really bad sugars, but I still feel like I'm getting too much. In one day I have a fruit, which has about 10-15g sugar, and a kashi cereal which has also about 10-15g sugar. Sometimes if I feel like having a dessert I'll have a vita muffin or a z bar which both have around 12g sugar. For lunch and dinner I don't have a lot of sugar, maybe 10g TOPS. So in a day I intake about 40g a sugar a day. It is all organic/natural sugar, but I was wondering how that compared to everyone else. I know the fruit adds a lot of sugar and I need to get my fruit in, so I dont feel so bad about that. So what about everyone else?

Organic/natural sugar is still just sugar. I don't think what you are eating seems excessive in terms of sugar grams but you also need to figure carbs as part of your sugar intake. Maybe that is where you are getting too much ???? If you have no health issues I think you just need to go with what feels right for you. I used to see a nutritionist for diabetes and she never put sugar gram restrictions on me - just carbs. There has been new thinking in this area in that your body processes both the same way. A nutritionist is WELL WORTH the money - even if just for a few sessions. It makes you really aware of how your body processes foods, food labelling and such.

Ya know? I've never really thought about it. Mostly because I'm not a big sweet-eater (except the occasional piece of chocolate here & there) and when I DO eat sweets, it's usually something sugar-free. Like I LOVE the Jello Pudding Cups. Sugar-free, only 60 calories each, and they definitely cure the sweet tooth. They have a new flavor, too; caramel creme, or something like that. They're yummy!

The World Health Organization recommends no more than 10% of your daily calories come from added sugars. This does not include the sugar naturally occuring in fruit or other whole foods, just added sugars.

Thanks! that helps a lot. LLV I try not to eat sugar free foods that have chemical sugars and things like that. But they sound good!
