Modkittn- I love you raised by a cup of coffee slogan! (is slogan the right word?)

I've gained a pound the last couple days. Having trouble sticking to my exercise routine and last night I binged SO BAD! I'm going to poke around 3FC here and see if there are any challenges I can join up with to help counter those to negatives. During the day I do great, now if only I could control myself in the evening.

Well I have been horrible lately when left alone at home. I've been going for ice cream or Halloween candy. Bad bad bad! I need to be eating healthier for the baby :)

Sure, you can call it a slogan! I got it from Homestar Runner, though!

KimL1214 10-31-2008 09:31 AM

So I did have a page of rambling, but just managed to delete it...

chiquita623~ Congrats on joining!!!

I passed out at 7 last night, wasn't that hungry when I got up so I just had a few tortilla chips with homemade black bean and corn salsa.

We all dressed up in camo for Halloween today which the kids love. I was disappointed to discover that I still can not fit into my favorite camo pants, so they have now become my Valentine's Day goal. I know that seems far away, but I want to give myself enough time to accomplish this goal since I always seem to limit myself too much...

kestrel 10-31-2008 03:03 PM

Welcome Laurie!

I'm jsut going to need to make sure I stay away from the kids' Halloween candy tonight. ;) Luckily since I can't have the milk chocolate due to the dairy issues (and that's my fave) I don't think it will be that hard.

I got a sneak peak of a weight starting with a 1 this morning, so we'll see how it goes at my official weigh in on Monday. I'm really excited about possibly hitting Onederland and keeping my fingers crossed!

mandos 11-01-2008 02:39 PM

I hope everyone was successful in their attempts to limit their candy! I don't keep candy in the apartment, but I definitely at an issue with the potato chips...over my weekly flex points allowance. I guess I'm not doing too bad for my first week back on, but it's still a bit discouraging. :-\

Lovely 11-02-2008 01:38 AM

Hey Flexy Ladies ^_^

Man have I actually been gone for 1,000 years?

I've had a rough October, to be quite painfully honest, weight-wise. Lots of change all at once (as much as I love change) really don't equal me losing any weight. In fact, apparently, it means that I gain weight like it's going out of style.

I'm back to it, though. Not that I was ever truly out of it, just sort of barely hanging on. Now, however, I feel the need to continue climbing the rope. ;)

So, I'm married now. Going on two weeks. Moved to Massachusetts. And packing for a cruise to Tahiti! :D I'll be gone for a week in November. (Beginning the 9th.) I'm quite excited as I've never been on a cruise ^.^.

But, I'm really happy to be catching up the gals here :)

Hope you're all well!!!! :grouphug:

alliez 11-02-2008 11:46 AM

Hi all - Had a pretty rough few days! I teach and we had state football playoffs start on Wed. and fall break on Thursday and Friday. Then to top it all off - I refed volleyball tournaments yesterday and had free reign in the concessions stand. I about 100% sure its all going to show up on Tuesday at weigh in. I am planning on getting back on track today though! Have a good week everyone!

shrinkinglizzy 11-02-2008 02:51 PM

Hey guys,
Been away a while -- I'm just soooooo tired of "dieting." I know it's not what WW likes to call it, nor is it what I like to call it, but sometimes that's how it feels. Thinking about food all the time, planning, counting...ugh. And, even though I've been way off plan (well, at least I think so, I haven't really been paying attention), my weight stayed the same, no loss, but no gain. So, great! But I think my nasty eating is starting to have some serious mental effects, and I'm back to battling depression/anxiety/let's face it, some alcohol abuse.
But let me take a minute to celebrate some successes despite this:

1. I went to a bar last night and had 1 beer. When we came home to watch a movie with a bottle of wine, I had 1 glass of wine.
2. I went to a bar last night and ate half a burger, and was too full to eat the (VERY DELICIOUS) fries, so I threw them out.
3. The night before last, I went to a bar and had 2 drinks, then switched to water.

I need to revisit some positivity. I also need to find a job and stop being so damn tired all the time. And eventually, I'll quit smoking, too.

faerie -- :congrat: I've missed you on the boards! Will you be posting pics for us??

mod -- love the baby ticker. Very cute.

alliez -- what is a Runza?

chiquita -- :welcome2:

kestrel -- ooh can't wait till you see onederland!! how exciting!!

mandos 11-02-2008 11:34 PM

I've finally gotten on the exercise train a little harder since going over my points allowance, and it appears to have paid off...I've lost 2 lbs! :) After a few weeks of no loss at all (and poorly sticking to the diet), it's a happy thing to see.

Faerie- Glad to see you back, congratulations on the marriage!

shrinkinglizzy- Congratulations on your successes, sounds like you have some great control at your disposal.

Lovely 11-03-2008 03:00 AM

Hello!

Lizzy - I'm so happy for you about your successes, neighbor ;) The hubby & I are going through pics to select some nice ones. I'd like to post some, yeah. :D

Mandos - Congrats on the 2lbs!!!

---

Today went well. Ate within my points, and am still drinking water to get it all in.

Not much else to say :)

Hope you gals are well!

shrinkinglizzy 11-03-2008 09:31 AM

Wow the strangest thing just happened -- I went to smoke my first cigarette of the day and it made me feel terribly nauseous. I'm reading a quitting smoking book -- perhaps it's helped??

I also stepped on the scale for the first time in a few weeks and I'm down to 128!! Woohoo!! 3 more lbs till goal...whoa.

Today I promise myself that I will be productive. Happy Monday!!

S

KimL1214 11-03-2008 09:42 AM

shrinkinglizzy~ I used Chantix to quit smoking, after 8 years of smoking I quit in 2 weeks... I can't stand the taste or smell of cigarettes now... Great job with the bar control, I always luck out and volunteer to be DD with the agreement that everyone has to buy me as much diet soda as I want (I usually only have a couple and then switch over to H2O), plus they serve amazing Grilled Chicken Salad with salsa as the dressing, so I often use that as part of my DDing deal. My bf is a bit of an alcoholic, and I've really quit drinking because I love him so much and want him to see that you don't have to get drunk to have fun...

Faerie~ Welcome back and congrats on the marriage!!! I want to see pics!!!

So I'm still sick. I don't have a fever, but have been struggling with a chest rattling cough. When I'm not coughing, I'm wheezing, so I made a DRs. appt. for this afternoon. This weekend was long, and bad. I ate some bad stuff, but really only ate a little bit, and then nothing else. I had breakfast yesterday, and then had mozzarella sticks for lunch followed by some more evil stuff. Surprisingly I didn't use all my points though.

I could really go for a nap right now... At least I actually get to go home after school rather then to job #2.

Happy Monday EVERYONE!!!

alliez 11-03-2008 11:43 AM

I forget sometimes that not everyone is from the midwest. Runza is a chain restaurant in Nebraska, Kansas, Iowa, and Colorado. A runza is a sandwich type thing that is homemade bread on the outside, then the inside has a filling in it. Usually ground beef and such. There are severy different kinds. I ususally get the swiss mushroom Runza. Something you really have to try if you are ever back this way! They are delicious!

kestrel 11-03-2008 04:36 PM

Faerie - Welcome back and congrats on the marriage!

alliez - Sorry to hear about the rough couple of days, it sounds like you had a busy weekend!

lizzie - Congrats on your successes! Alcohol can be a hard one to fight. Keep sharing your successes and we'll celebrate them with you. :)

mandos - Good for getting the exercise train going! I need to do that myself.

Sorry to hear you're sick, Kim, I hope you get better soon.

As for me, I stayed away from the Halloween candy, which I felt good about. I had my weigh in this morning and I'm back in Onederland! :carrot::carrot::carrot:

vdaybaby 11-03-2008 09:43 PM

shrinkinglizzy: my mom also used chantix to quit smoking. She was a pretty heavy smoker for about 30 years...then she got a prescription for chantix and was able to quit completely in about 3 weeks. I would recommend talking to your doctor about it if you honestly want to quit smoking. I think it is great that you are thinking about it. And awesome job on getting so close to your goal!

Kim: Awww...sorry you're sick. I hate being sick, I can't even function. I use to get Bronchitis almost every year, and thankfully I didn't get it last year because I was taking a multi-vitamin every day and eating healthier due to WW, so hopefully I won't get it this year either. Coughing is the worst! I can stand any other symptoms besides that.

Kestrel: Great job on avoiding the candy...it's definitely worth it to see onederland right??

~~ well as for me, I BINGED like no other on Halloween which I consciously chose to do. I did not plan on binging the day after, which I also did. I decided to fast on Sunday, and it was an amazing learning experience which I will probably write a thread about since it was so eye-opening.

Hope the appointment goes well! I have some residual cough from a bad cold last week. Seems to be going around...

I've done similar things. Had a planned "no counting" day, and then had an unplanned day after. It happens. I'm glad you got back on the horse.

chiquita623 11-05-2008 09:28 AM

Thank you for all the welcomes ladies.

Tonight is my first WI and to tell the truth I'm a little aprehensive about it. I'm really not expecting to see a big loss. I tried to eat within my points limit but I still haven't figured out how to balance them throughout the day. It seems I try to not eat as many is the morning and save them up for the afternoon/evening and then I have some left over. Then I decide I should eat some in the morning and then I go over in the evening. I know it will take a little time to get the hang of this and establish some sort of routine. I can say I ate healthier this week so that is something in itself. I think I'll check out the menu thread for some ideas and see how others divide their points throughout the day. And maybe I'll get some ideas as to what I can eat. I still am struggling with the whole point value of foods too but I'm sure that will get easier as it goes along too.

Sorry for the long post. Talk to you all soon. Have a wonderful Wednesday!!

shrinkinglizzy 11-05-2008 10:54 AM

Kim -- Good for you for quitting!! I'm trying to stay away from medication aids, but luckily got sick so that's helping lately. Hope you're feeling better!

Alliez -- yum a runza does sound good!! And dangerous!!

Kestrel -- Way to resist the halloween candy!! Woo hoo!!

Vday -- Well, I responded to you in the other thread. I gotta go see what anyone else has to say!

Faerie -- so glad you're back!

Laurie -- It does take time, and planning helps, too. Keep it up!

Well, I'm sick again, which is really incredible. I feel like maybe the last cold didn't actually go away. Whatever. I'm sure the smoking doesn't help, either. Ugh.
I don't feel like being sick at all!!
Gah.
S

kestrel 11-05-2008 01:28 PM

Laurie - Good luck at your weigh in today! It took me a while to find the right balance for using my points too, where I didn't end up starving. I think it just took a while for my body to adjust.

lizzy - Sorry to hear you're sick again, I hope you start feeling better soon.

I splurged some of my weekly points on some celebratory wine last night, and ended up staying up too late. But my kids were up at their usual early hour, so now I'm dragging and having a hard time resisting the soda. I need to get up and get moving around to wake up more.

J Diddy 11-05-2008 01:37 PM

:DHi. I am new to 3FC and I wanted to jump in. I have been doing weight watchers for about 6 weeks or so and I have lost 16 pounds so far. I have been enjoying reading what everyone has had to say and would love to have some one to chat with who knows what I am going through.

kestrel 11-05-2008 01:49 PM

Welcome J Diddy! 16 lbs, you're off to a great start! And I love your sig.

KimL1214 11-05-2008 08:42 PM

J Diddy~ Welcome!!!

shrinkinglizzy~ Yay for being sick! I still feel like crud but am getting better, hope you feel better soon!

Took yesterday and today off from work to try and improve a bit, still have a low grade fever, but my cough is getting better. I'm on an inhaler and antibiotics... I haven't been very hungry because of being sick, and am planning on using this to propel me into more control over what I eat, if that makes any sense.

Half way to my 1st 10%!!!

chiquita623 11-06-2008 03:19 PM

Good Afternoon Ladies. Well, I've been doing WW for a solid week and even though I've had my little missteps I still lost 2.4#. I know it's not much but it's better than what I've been doing!! I'm still trying to find my way with balancing the points throughout the day but I'm positive that it will get easier.

I have a questions (and I'm sorry if it's a silly one) but I got the restaurant guide last night. I was looking at the Subway selections and it lists the meat separately, the bread separately, condiments separately. So if I get a sandwich from them I need to add all the points up from each item I chose to put on it - right? I'm still terrified of eating out but thought with the guide I may not be so scared of it. Maybe the first place I'll go is Applebee's since they have the WW dinners and then it'll be a no brainer!!

Hugs to all that are not feeling well.

A big welcome to everyone else that's new here (like me).

I'll check back in later. Have a good evening.

shrinkinglizzy 11-07-2008 10:46 AM

Laurie -- I wish I could help you out with that restaurant guide, but I dont have one! It makes sense the way you're describing it. At Subway, I used to go to their website, figure out the cal/fiber/fat for a sandwich, and then figure out the points from that. Hope that helps!

Kim -- what are you sick with?? it sounds terrible!! i just have a cold, and I think I"m on the upswing now. And yes, I know what you mean about using your low appetite as momentum for further weight loss. Good luck!!

JDiddy -- :welcome2: Wow 16# that's great!! Keep it up!!

Kestrel -- thanks for the get well wishes. Hope you make it through the day. Maybe I missed something, but what were you celebrating?

Well, I'm off to my volunteer gig and then work. As for food, let's see...I will bring soup with me to volunteer, and then I'll pick up a Luna bar and some fruit for work. That should work. Hopefully.

S

nancylmrn 11-07-2008 11:10 PM

Just wanted to jump on and say hi been doing the at home version for 11 weeks and the going is slow for me but I am ok with that.

At subway the veggie sandwich with just mustard and no cheese is 4pts for the 6" and if you want meat the best bet is either the Roast beef, turkey breast or turkey breast and ham all are 5pts..not bad if you ask me

well my wi is sunday morning so wish me luck lol

shrinkinglizzy 11-08-2008 08:42 AM

Nancy -- The slow going is a good thing!! Glad to hear you're OK with it. It's better that way, at least that's what everyone says! Good luck on WI!! :crossed:

--------------------------

The scale is back up to 130 (talk about slow loss). We'll see on Monday. I didn't eat a lot last night, but I also don't feel like I have exercised in the past week, mostly due to feeling sick. Today I'm supposed to go hiking, so that will be good! But then there's babysitting in the evening, always a pitfall. No binging!!!

Hope you all have lovely Saturdays!

S

vdaybaby 11-08-2008 03:26 PM

Hey guys!
I have finally lost weight for the first time in months!
I am down 1.2 pounds...
I think I owe it all to my fast. I had a free day, and then fasted the day after. I am going to start doing that every week. It really helps me stay on plan all week, as I don't have the need to binge. The fast really helps me put stuff into perspective.

Other than that, I am still not working out/exercising!:( The cold weather hasn't really been helping me, as I don't want to go outside to run or walk. I just want to curl up on my couch and be warm.:)

ifindhope 11-08-2008 04:09 PM

hi!

KimL1214 11-10-2008 09:40 AM

shrinkinglizzy~ How was your hike?
vdaybaby~ Congrats on the loss!!!
ifindhope~ HI!

Felt like a long weekend because I didn't have to work the whole time for the first time in forever...

My antibiotics (I have bronchitis) have been cleaning out my system everyday, so I'm a little worried that any loss I may have this week may result from antibiotic side effects and I may just end up gaining next week or the week after...

Happy Monday everyone!!!

modkittn 11-10-2008 09:55 AM

I had my appointment last week with the specialist in Portland, OR and got good news. He thinks that, since my remission tests are still negative right now, that even if I do come out of remission at some point during the pregnancy, it won't be far enough to need treatment and that he thinks I can make it all the way through without having to go back on the medication. I am VERY happy about that because it means the baby won't be exposed to the medication AT ALL. :woohoo:

Oh and I haven't weighed myself in a few weeks. At the doctor on Thursday I was 182.5 (with sneakers and clothes on) so I'm guessing maybe I am up 12 or so now instead of 10? I should weigh tomorrow morning!

chiquita623 11-10-2008 10:58 AM

Good Monday Morning. Just a quick flyby for now. Things are hectic at work this morning but at least I have tomorrow off!! Gotta love that - gonna try to get some Christmas shopping done for the grandkids. So far I have 2 done and have 3 to go.

I snuck a peek at the scale at home - which weighs me the same nekkid as the scale at WW with clothes on - and it appears I'm down a pound or so. We'll see when I WI. Think I'll do it tomorrow instead of Wednesday so I can just go home after work instead of late after the meeting.

Better go for now. I'll be back either later today or tomorrow. Have a great day and stay warm!!! It's 23 degrees here and I'm not ready for it!!!!!!!!!!

KimL1214 11-10-2008 03:17 PM

modkittn~ I'm excited for you! Good news!
chiquita623~ I feel you on the weather issue. I walked outside and was pelted by hail, sleet and snow all the way to my car and all the way to work this morning. I love snow, but it makes weight loss hard as I am a big walker.

The day has dragged on with the longest part of the day right now. I run a homework club which is pretty boring as I spend more time trying to control behavior then actually helping with work.

For some reason I feel ill everyday after lunch, it starts about an hour after I eat and continues until I eat something after school. I'm going to try not taking my multi-vitamin tomorrow at lunch and see if that is what is causing the nauseousness... If not that, maybe something else.

No idea what I'm doing for dinner...

chiquita623 11-10-2008 04:07 PM

Kim - I know if I don't have something in my stomach when I take my vitamin then I get real nauseous too. I've started taking it in the evening when i eat dinner. That and my calcium pill too.

I also have no idea what to have for dinner. Maybe leftover spagetti or maybe just a salad or maybe even a hamburger with sweet potato fries. Decisions, Decisions. I do know that I'm making homemade chicken noodle soup tomorrow. YUMMO!!!!!!!!

J Diddy 11-10-2008 04:48 PM

Happy Monday

Hey ladies. Thanks for all the warm welcomes! :D Hope everyone had a good weekend. I was sick all weekend (seems to be going around) but it worked out well because I got all my wedding invitations done. It is amazing what you get done when you cannot leave the house. So Wednesday is weigh in day, wish me luck! Last week I was up 1 lb. :( but it was my TOM so Im hoping I lose that and more this week! Everybody enjoy your day off tomorrow if your lucky enough to have it :)

Zen Pharmacy 11-10-2008 09:29 PM

Hey guys, I've been lurking a bit, so I figured now's as good a time as any to hop in the fray.

I'm in the middle of an exam block right now (an all day test every MWF for two weeks) and even though I'm only a day in, it's kicking my butt. I'm just glad I have a husband who'll help out with the majority of the laundry and cooking.

kestrel 11-11-2008 12:50 AM

Welcome Zen! I've had a few all day tests and wow, they were something else. Good luck with your exams!

There's a lot going on this week, it's been hectic at home but I can't update quite yet. But it's taking all my willpower to stay away from the fast food places. I did reserve some points to have some wine this evening, though. I'm almost at my first 10% goal, hopefully in another week or two.

Hope everyone is doing well!

KimL1214 11-11-2008 08:01 AM

So my original plan was to do Turbo Jam this morning, but my knee really wasn't agreeing with that idea (I dislocated my knee the last weekend in August), so I went for a walk instead. I hate how my legs always itch whenever I walk when it's cold outside.
Doing good on points so far, I only have 7 bonus points left to get through today and tomorrow, but I'm pretty sure I'll be okay.
I'll probably check in again in a bit.

KimL1214 11-12-2008 11:12 AM

Where is everyone?

Tonight is my weigh in and I'm not sure what to expect.

I'm still fighting this illness. I've been to the DR., am on antibiotics and nothing seems to be working. My cough is getting better, but I feel ickier and ickier.

I'd like to get my BMI in the 30s this week, if not next week... we'll see...

modkittn 11-12-2008 11:24 AM

Hello ladies! I'm up 14 pounds now, a little higher than I want to be. The doc says I'm just fine though, so I'm not sweating it. Now that the first trimester nausea is over, I'm back to eating "normally". I'm getting impatient though. I have a couple of weeks or so until I can feel the baby, and I can't wait! Also, I have a few weeks (4-6) before we find out the gender. They're doing a bigger u/s than normal for me at the 20 week mark since I was still on my meds for a week and a half after I conceived. They think everything should be just fine (is so far) but want to check anyway.

Oh I also haven't really been exercising. I need to get my a$$ in gear and get moving. At least last week when I was in Portland, OR for the doctor's appointment I walked EVERYWHERE. Felt good, too!

Kim - Maybe it is just that time of day? Or maybe something you are eating? Did the nausea go away when you stopped taking the vitamin?

J Diddy - What's your wedding date? Don't worry about the 1lb, TOM always messes things up :)

Zen - I wish I had a husband who cooked! When he "cooks" it usually means sandwhiches (homemade) or pizza (ordered out). What are you studying?

kestrel - Because I was traveling last week, I got used to eating out. Now I want to go out for lunch every day. Bad idea! I don't have the money for that, and the food isn't good for me. So I haven't gone. I do have a lunch date on Friday with a couple of friends from the old department I worked in here. We should be able to go somewhere where I can order healthy, though :)

Zen Pharmacy 11-12-2008 04:48 PM

Kim: Being ill and not knowing what it is is no fun at all. Everyone here has been battling the crud for the past couple weeks.

Modkittn: I'm in my 2nd year of pharmacy school. Yeah, he's good. He learned when I was working on my masters thesis(yes, I've been in school forever) that if we were going to have more than kraft dinner or tunafish, he was going to have to make it.

He jokes that he's just practicing for his future career of house husband once I'm done with school and we can start thinking about kids.

Well, I made it through Tests 1 and 2, with only 4 more to go before a whole week of nothing but trashy romance novels, walking my dog, and maybe even a bubble bath.
