  • Thank you Lizzy & Mod!

And hey Mod I love your baby ticker ^_^ Yay!

    ---

Yesterday was a long day... but we got 1.5 hour lunch instead of our usual 45 minutes, so that was a nice perk, and today we all get to leave 2 hours early due to the holiday weekend. Sweeeet!

I decided to make the most of the extra time today and kick my butt back into exercising gear. I brought my workout clothes & my shoes and I'm going to have a relaxing time on the treadmill after work. No time limit... no pressure. Just getting back on the tread & watching a little whathaveyou on TV. Maybe a little pushing myself, but nothing drastic.

Points thusfar have been going very well, but I know that as soon as I get back into the "move more" gear, I'll be feeling 1000x better.

I wish you all a great start to a wonderful weekend!
  • Thanks Faerie! Yeah, I've only read a little of Stephen King's work, but what I have read I've enjoyed a lot. I'm working on a graphic novel right now, Watchmen but I honestly haven't gotten too far because I have started reading pregnancy books

I need to get moving more as well. I really need to start getting back to the gym. It is only going to help me during the pregnancy. All I can do though for now (as far as the gym) is bike and walk, but anything is better than nothing.

Have a great upcoming week and a half everyone! I am leaving for Disney on Tuesday and won't be back until the 10th!
  • Oh I want to read Watchmen before the movie comes out, thanks for reminding me! Ha ha!

If we don't see you before you leave on Tuesday have a fabulous time at Disney!!! And come back with some great stories ^_^
  • Sonja - packing we left to the last minute too - we can pack in a day but dang if it doesn't take 3 weeks to put everything away again. I know how you feel with the perpetual adolescence, I am in the same boat (though not actively looking for a job, thinking about what I want to do next). I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing that we don't have direction, though. Just keeps life interesting

Faerie - oooh, adoption party! dress fitting! engagement ring! 101 pounds!! so much excitement. The ring sounds beautiful, I love the symbolism! and you totally kick butt, 100+ lbs is just mind-bogglingly amazing.

Mod - I hear that swimming is fantastic for pregnancy. It works your ab muscles very effectively which allows for an easier labor. It's also so low-impact. But this is all hearsay, I have no personal experience there! Have a great time at Disney!

So apparently I am hosting a Risk party this weekend. (Not much of a party, just a gathering to play Risk.) Our meetup for last night got cancelled, so we are rescheduling for Monday, which of course is a holiday and I don't think our little local coffee shop where we last met will be opened on a holiday. So I offered to host the two who we met last week... then one of them said that he would invite a couple of his coworkers. Sooo... four people is turning into six, which is mostly problematic because we only have 5 chairs I have never hosted anything in my LIFE, so I have no idea what to do - I know we need to clean up the apt, that's for sure! But as for having snacks and drinks around? No clue what is expected of me! Eek!

Count me in with the "exercise has fallen by the wayside" crew. I think it's been a week and half since I last went running, but I've been moving and now apparently am sick so I guess I should go easy on myself. Next week, assuming I am all healed up, I will restart the running - I definitely miss it.

Any plans for the long weekend? I am baking myself a birthday cake tomorrow and will either go bowling or go for a hike if the weather is nice.
  • Suite - Yay for gaming parties!!! A lot of people tend to bring their own snacks or whatnot, but you will need enough chairs Of course, more traditionally, "hosting" is just that, so feel free to have a few snacks around. They don't have to be chips & dips. Even just a Veggie & Fruit Platter would be something for people to munch on. Maybe a couple of soda options, too. If it turns into a regular hosting, there's nothing wrong in asking different people to bring the soda & snacks each time. No need to make dinner or anything fancy unless you really want to, though!
  • Jaime - I wish my husband liked board games! Oh well. Actually, swimming is OK when pregnant, but you aren't supposed to do it regulary (like more than once or twice a week) if it is in a chlorinated pool.

Faerie - I forgot to say CONGRATS on the adoption of your nephew and on the engagement ring!
  • Thanks again Mod. (oops and Thanks Suite! (forgot to say thank you ))

Yeah, the adoption was super officially complete as of yesterday. Can't wait to see the guy again and give him a huge hug.
  • Mod - Huh, that makes sense about the chlorine! I just always saw pregnant people at the pool when I went to do aquafit. Walking and yoga works too

Faerie - Thanks for the suggestions. I think a fruit/veg tray would be perfect, then dump some Tostitos in a bowl Should be easy enough. I would love for it to become a regular thing, though I do have to figure out the chair situation! We really don't need another chair!

I am listening to a little Led Zep and rocking out to work this morning For some reason I am feeling way happy and energetic today. I am not complaining!
  • Suite - Folding chair. My dad used to host risk at our house in the basement. We had like 12 folding chairs that we kept down there. But one or two are a good thing to have, and are easily kept in a closet or storage out of the way.
  • hey girls,

just wanted to check in, not much to report.
HOWEVER, if any of you get Planet Green, the new environmentally minded network from Discovery, check out Renovation Nation tonight -- my ex-boyfriend yet still good friend is going to be on it! We are currently trying to find friends who get that channel, so far, unsuccessfully
Hope you all have excellent weekends!

  • I want to have a game night!!! I love to play games! We don't have room for hosting, but I've been known to get move furniture around to make room for gatherings lol. We own a metal folding chair and I make people bring their fold up lawn chair thingies .

I'm the opposite of some of you. I have the exercise thing down. Yesterday was the first day I've missed (other than scheduled days off) since I started going to the gym mid July. I worked late and couldn't go. The eating otoh...OY! We're not even talking about it LOL.
  • lizzy - I wish I read your post sooner, I get that channel!

So my OB/GYN called on Wednesday and said she wanted me to come in 2 weeks for an appointment and an ultrasound. The nurse was supposed to call Thursday to set it up. She didn't. So I called Friday and set it up. The earliest she had was 4 weeks, and the ultrasound had to be on a different day. Now, DH wants to come and separate appointments will be hard for him to get off of work. More important to me though is that its not like the appoinement is a day or two off than suggested, its twice the time. Even after pointing out to the nurse that the doc said 2 weeks. So I ended up leaving a message for the doc to call me back about possibly getting an earlier appointment. I'll let you know how it goes.

I leave for Disney early on Tuesday and I can't wait! We invited a friend down with us on Sat. and Sun but really he will be staying 3 nights. At first I thought it would be nice to have him, and I still do. But I'm kind of wishing we didn't because it would be nice to have the whole week together too. I'm not going to back out on him though, he already booked it and everything. I'm sure it will be fine, I'm just really looking forward to the time I do have alone with DH!
  • Good Morning Ladies,
I'm fighting the blues. Actually, yesterday I was fighting the blues, but today is a new day and I woke up feeling fine. I hope I can keep it going.
It's funny, I guess that when I went away for 2 months, I was running away from a lot of stress, about my relationship, my life in general. Being at camp really helped -- I was hardly stressed at all, at least not in this deep way. But surprisingly, all of my problems were still here, waiting for me, when I got back. And, food still doesn't solve those problems (just ask the pad thai i ordered last night)! And neither do cigarettes or wine. It saddens me that it took no time at all for me to sink back into my bad habits, my old patterns.
I truly hope that today I can make a new start, again. I need to clean up the apt, I need to pack, I need to move!
I feel concerned for a lot of things in my life right now, and I can only hope that things will even out, get balanced. Clearly, I need to work towards this, but I think I also need to have a bit of faith while I'm feeling low that it will all get better, that I am not looking at a life of debt, bad credit, and listless job-hunting.
OK, so very little of my ramble has to do with food, but you all know how easily these sorts of struggles can translate into nasty eating habits. And yes, I have eaten some bad foods since I've been back, but more because I was able to over the summer, and I'm clinging to the belief that I can eat whatever I want, though now I sit around a whole lot more than I did at camp! So, the numbers on the scale might creep up a little, but I think I can handle the whole WW thing. Especially after I move. Which I will do this week. Then, I will find a job. I will look into PhD programs for 2009. Job job job....

Anyway -- mod -- sorry to hear about the doc. I hate dealing with the medical world. So overwhelming. Good luck with all that!!

  • Gooooooood Tuesday Morning, Lovely Flexers

I hope it's a short week for most of you out there. Alas, I must work on Saturday to "make up" for the day off on Monday, so 'tis not a short week for me! Poo.

Lizzy - So cool about the friend being on TV! Wish I got the channel to see. I hope the week turns out to be balanced and wonderful for you. Life is such a juggling act sometimes.

Magz - I'm hoping to be in the group that "has the exercise down" shortly. I'm planning another treadmill session tonight! Whoot!

Mod - Ack! Doctor troubles I hope you're able to get in an ultrasound sooner. You're right to be concerned, I mean... this is your baby afterall. So good luck getting a better appointment.

    Suite - How'd Risk go???

    ---

So my eating this weekend was absolutely out of control.

I realize that part of it is that I'm still at my parent's house. And it has all that residual bingy energy around it. I'm having to rely more on pre-packaged meals while I'm there and.. blah. Well, it's whatever way we can work it, right? No excuses! I'm worth more than food.

And truly, it's not much longer until I move and start completely anew at the new apartment. At least there I know I'm in complete control of everything in that household. And I won't buy a ton of those snack foods "just because they're 2 points".

*shakes it off* Today's a new day.

    All the best today, everyone!!!
  • Magz - You are welcome to come play games with us Sure it's a long drive, but totally worth it!

Mod - You are en route to Disney now, hope you are excited!

Sonja - I can see how that kind of a drastic environment change would throw you off. Funny how life just waits for you to come back, then springs everything back on you.... Good luck with your new start. I know you can do it!

Faerie - Right there with you on the crazy weekend eating! Something must have been in the air!

Risk was fun - though we ended up meeting at our usual coffee shop anyway after finding out it didn't close for the holiday, and the people that Keith was going to bring all backed out. So it was just the three of us, which was fun. I totally kicked their butts

The weekend consisted primarily of birthday cake and cashews. I don't think I ate more than one or two real meals... Otherwise it was all snacking. Back to it today, though! For my birthday we went to the Amish unfinished furniture store and bought a couple of great bookcases, then spent the next couple days staining them a nice color. Our apartment is about 98% set up, which makes me happy

Hope everyone has a good day.
