  • Hey Shannon

I hope Friday & Saturday go well! Everyone gave you the goods on what you need to know.

About Smart Ones, I keep a few frozen meals in my freezer for when I'm feeling lazy or need something right quick, but I don't make them regularly. I maybe have two a month. If you find that you like using them for some of your meals, go right ahead! Count the points for them & enjoy!
  • Hi all and thanks for the post.
I appreciate everyones im put i know i am going to need alot of it the next few weeks. I just honestly feel like i am never going to get to where i need to be. I am sure many of you can understand that..

I did walk so far today on the treadmill 2 miles. I did 1 mile in 20minutes and then did a second mile the same exact way. i am going to try and work in another mile tonight for a total of 3 miles today..

Again i want to thank you for you imput i appreciate it.
  • Shannon - Great work on the exercising!
  • Shannon, congrats on deciding to make healthy changes in your life. The registration fee can be around $30 so if you can get started without paying that, it's great. Also, when you start your meetings they usually have some kind of pre-pay plan where you can buy 5 or 10 or whatever meetings at a time and save a couple bucks a week.

I feel like I've paid them a million dollars over my journey (exaggerating of course) but it's all been worth it. Hopefully I'll soon be going for free and my goal is not to have to pay ever again. Once you meet your goal and stay at it for 6 weeks, you become lifetime and if you stay within a couple lbs. of your goal weight you can go to meetings for free. It's def. something to shoot for, if you're able. Some people can't do the meetings, if you read diff. posts around these boards, you'll see there's lots of ways to adapt if you can't make meetings, my preference is meetings, but everybody's different.

    best to you!
  • Thank you so much for the encoragement..
I did get my third mile in tonight!!YEAH!!!!!!!
That is a big step for me..LOL
thank you all for everything i appreciate it and all the kind words!!
  • Congrats exercise can be hard but rewarding
you can nip it with weight lose but it will not tuck on it's own
  • Roleypolycoley
you are right it is rewarding, Got on the scale and was down another 2 pounds this week total of 4 since sunday. I know if i exercise more i can get it off so quick. Finding the time is the problem with my crazy life..LOL
    Thank for the support!!
  • For someone who is my size now at 226. How much do you normally lose your first few weeks on weight watchers??

How much have you all lost though WW your first few weeks?
I am so excited to join you just dont know..
  • It's all so individual... Some have these mind-blowing huge losses the first week or two, others start out slow and continue slow. I lost 3.-something in my first week, but I'm only averaging around 1lb/week now (part of this is by choice, I am not very strict about it). Paintfancy, if I remember correctly, had 2 5lb losses her first two weeks.

Just take what comes, any loss is a great loss
  • Jamie,
    I totally agree with you.
My problem and down fall is i feel i dont ever lose it fast enough and if i dont see the scale move then i get upset and just wanna eat. i know it sounds dumb. thanks for the good words!!
  • Nah, it's not dumb at all! Of course we're all impatient to see what goal feels like. An important part of this though, I think, is learning to be patient. Remember your conscious mind is not 100% in control over how much weight you lose week to week. You could be totally OP eating and exercise-wise but there are so many things going on inside our bodies that can throw you off for a week. But remember, perseverance is key and will ultimately succeed

When you have a bad week just come by here and we'll give you all the picking-up you need
  • Quote: Hi all
i am going to go join weight watchers on Friday. I am just wondering a few things. I am in lancaster, Pa and i called our local office and tried to get a few questions answered and the lady i talked to was NO help.

I was told i can join for free ( no activation fee right now) and it would cost me the 15.00 to join. and then 14.00 each week after.
I had asked her about Journals and a points calulator and she said alll of that is extra.
I am just wondering what does it normally cost to join weight watchers when you sign up? with the journals and calculator and plan? and on average what do people normally lose a week??

    Thanks all for the help
Are you considered to be in the Philadelphia region? I'm up in northeastern PA, and that's what we're considered to be. Right now, until May 10, there is a special going on that knocks of the usual $25 registration fee. So yes, your first meeting will only be $15 rather than $40, and each meeting after that will be $14. They are also offering a 5-pack (basically of meeting/weigh-in fees) for $55, so there's some savings there if you go for it.

I just started this on April 8, so...

At your meeting, you'll get the membership book, where they log your starting weight and will log your weight each week. Then the Points Finder/Points Booster slider thing. It's a paperboard scale with one piece inside that slides up & down to help you figure out the points for what you're eating (as long as you have nutrition info to go on). You also get the Weight Watchers Turnaround "Eat Wisely" booklet, which gives you your startup info for both Flex and Core, the method of calculating how many points you'll have if you're on Flex, some helpful guidelines, and a small food guide for the basics (really, the rest you can figure out with the nutrition info). Also, I got a Kick-Start guide, and the little Week 1 booklet...oh, and the mini-journal. It's called the "QuikTrak System" and is where you log your points, exercise, etc. for a week. You'll get a new one of these each week you go, and you'll get the next booklet.

I've decided to probably not keep up with the meetings, and to order the deluxe At-Home kit someone else mentioned. If you're in the same region as I am, you should be able to order this, if you so choose. It's under the "How Weight Watchers Works" section of the Weight Watchers website. It has the Dining Out Guide ($10 at a center), 2008 Food Companion ($10 at a center), carrying bag (not sure how much), a Points slider thing, the actual Points calculator (not sure how much), an exercise DVD, a 200-recipe cookbook, a 3 month (I think) journal, a Weight Watchers magazine subscription...not sure what else, but I thought it would help me.

At our center, there are deluxe kits for members, for about $40, I think. But they don't include the 200-recipe cookbook, the calculator, the exercise DVD, or the subscription...maybe a couple other things missing.

At my second weigh-in, I didn't go to a meeting. I paid my $14, weighed in, and got my little Week 2 book.

Big thing to remember is that if you miss a meeting, then go again the next week, you'll be paying $28 instead of just $14, to make up the payment for the week you missed. You'll have to do this for up to 4 meetings missed. After 4 missed meetings, I guess you're considered inactive, and you'll start again (won't have to catch up with payments, but you'll be getting the beginning literature again, rather than the "on the way" literature).

Hope I didn't over-inform. It's just that I recently joined, so it's all pretty fresh in my mind.

Good luck! While I'm not doing meetings at this time, I'm still pretty excited, because for the first time, I've made it past one week on something. I'm at a tad over 3 weeks now, and I don't plan on quitting/haven't gotten sick of it yet, like I've done with so many other plans.

  • Hey Luvmyfam,

    Hey, Shannon,

How did your sign-in and first meeting go?

As for them pushing things or not, at our center they are very laid back. The only thing they have asked about is if I want the 5 weeks/$55 thing...but immediately they'll say "but you can do that at any time!"

Other than that, no pressure, no high-sell. The products are there, and they answered any questions I had about the products, but that was it. Very nice. My parents did LAWL and mentioned how each time those LA Lites were a big thing that was pushed. I've read on some of the LAWL threads about how people pre-paid hundreds for them...but with the problems Pure Weightloss has had, they're not sure they'll see them. What a shame. My parents managed to get out of the LA Lites the first time 'round, and they did great on it. But they're now doing... Weight Watchers!

Meeting went well thank you for asking, I was kinda depressed though their scale and my scale are about 4.6 pounds different, there's being heavier of course. So i restarted my ticker to match there weight it says i am.
Other then that i did by some snacks, the 3 month journal and the points calculator that i LOVE!! I dont go back till friday so i cant wait to see if the scale moves at all..

Thanks so much for asking and i hope you have a nice weekend!!
