Default 20 pounds goal

hi everyone.

After registering ages ago I have finally got the guts to post here. I guess I felt a little self conscious about posting, but now I have the motivation, I am trying to get in the saddle as it were. Anyway, having to lose just over half my body weight is quite daunting, so I am setting myself a twenty pounds goal in six months. That might sound quite low, but I am not very confident in anything to do with myself, so I am starting small and working up from there!

I am determined to break the back of this weight loss thing!!!

One step at a time, easy does it! Good luck!
A year from now, you'll wish you started/kept going

You can do it! I have a lot of mini-goals for myself to help me through the process... and I don't have a time limit on anything so I can't "fail" really. Time limits do work for some folks though. I love mini-goals (and micro-goals) though! I find they help me keep positive because I lose slowly, so looking at the overall picture because a bit daunting and demotivational. You're off on the right track though.

I have literally lost half of my body weight. What i have to say is it IS Possible. Just see every single pound lost as a victory, As long as you don't gain your winning and retraining yourself to eat properly. Its do-able hunny!

Congratulations for posting and setting a first goal. Good for you! I just started last week and have about 50 pounds to lose... maybe more. I keep saying 50 but it might end up being 75. I'd like to say 20 pounds for a first goal. It would seem like a major biggie and maybe people will notice by then that I've lost some weight. Keep us posted! Every pound is one pound closer to goal!

I think looking towards the first twenty is brilliant!!! I wish I had found that mind set sooner... I suggest also looking up how much a pound of fat is!!! Whenever it gets discouraging my new trick is to look up what one pound of fat looks like. When you see it, it suddenly doesn't feel so bad anymore or so little!

Welcome!!! I think that is a fantastic goal! And there is nothing wrong with it being "low", but I do hope you'll find some confidence in yourself. Sometimes setting those smaller short-term goals makes it all feel more realistic though.

I am a slow loser and last year "only" lost about 35 pounds, but I've lost over 50 pounds in two years. And the change in my body in those two years is astounding. Some people can do it in less, sure, but what matters is I've done it, not how long it took. Same goes for you. You can do it!

That's good, little by little you can do a lot, with time and consistency, as you get better you can then change your goal for a more ambitious one.

WOW! Lots of success stories here. 20 pounds or 54 pounds or 1/2 of your body weight, each one of you show that it can be done.

Thanks for letting us know. May each of you reach your best weight and NOT RISE ABOVE THAT GOOD WEIGHT.
