Default Breaking the Sugar Dependence!

Hi everyone! Just had an "ah ha" moment and wanted to share! A friend that I've been working with to keep me accountable called me today and offered me a cupcake from Crumbs (one of the most amazing cupcake places in NYC). Now, normally, cupcakes are my absolute biggest downfall and I would've given in without question while justifying it saying that its just one and, since I never get to go to the city, it's a treat.

This time, I just said no thanks and I didn't even have to think twice. I wasn't even tempted as she read off the flavors and described them!! Sorry guys, it may sound minor to many, but for me this is a bigger victory than losing another 10 lbs! Thanks for the support so far...it's made it easier knowing that I am not alone on this journey to a healthier lifestyle.

That's awesome, you did excellent saying no!! As I keep telling myself, there will always be cupcakes (or whatever I'm offered).

First, congrats on just saying no. Not only is it a big step, but it really gives you a sense of empowerment.

One question: if your friend is helping you with being accountable, why is she calling to offer you a cupcake? Please don't take this as being critical of your friend -- I can think of times when a friend or relative would call and offer to bring me something from my favorite bakery because we live 3 hours away from it even when they knew I was working on losing weight. I knew they were just thinking of me. I kind of wondered if this was a rather unique way of helping with keeping you accountable by putting temptation in your path knowing that she could then provide the support needed if you had said yes, bring them on. Or, I may be overthinking things.......no coffee yet!

Thank you everyone!! Betsy, in response to your question, she was just thinking of me. Even though I've adopted a healthy lifestyle, I'm a huge fan of everything in moderation and she knows that, when I do treat myself, cupcakes are a go to for me. Like you said, she knows I'm far from that bakery and don't have the chance to get there to get them myself so she thought she would offer.

Trust me, with my family's eating habits, I don't need anyone else trying to throw temptations my way to test me! Lol
