  • Hello all! 5 weeks ago I could barely make it up a flight of steps with out getting winded. I started working out on a daily basis after that and now friday I decided to take up running. I started by walking then jogging then eventually running! I went a whole mile! No breaks I was so happy. I feel I could have done another mile had I not had some where to be.
  • Congrats! Since it seems you enjoy running, have you thought about training for a 5k?
  • I've thought about it! I would love to but I need to find one around here! I had never run just to run before in my life and I LOVED it I'm thinking of going and running today!
  • congrats! running is my motivation to lose weight. i would seriously recommend trying a 5k.
  • My daughter started on her cross country team at school and I saw her slim down and get lean pretty quick. I always tells her "Run Forest Run" from Forest Gump but she's too young to get it. LOL
I have tried running before and always end up with sore shins. I am so jealous of people who can run long distances.
    Have fun!
  • good for you!!!!!
  • That's awesome!!! I love running.
  • Congrats!! That's fantastic- it's one of the things I would like to start getting into as well- I looked into 5Ks here- and the only ones that keep coming up happen on days when my family & I are headed out of town.

You should try googling your cities name and runners club- "erie runners club" and hopefully that will bring up your local runners club and get you info on 5ks that are coming up- I know quite a few cities do Turkey Trots- a 5K on Thanksgiving-
  • Like the poster above, I would recommend to look near your city and there is most likely a 5k race on Thanksgiving Day within 20 minutes of your area. Good luck with your new-found hobby of running, and be careful ...after you run your first race it gets addicting .
  • Congrats!
  • Go, Go, Go!!! That is an awesome accomplishment.
  • You went from a flight of stairs to running a mile in a month??
Thats wild! You should be so proud of yourself!!! I've been walking
    a year and I still don't (probably can't) run.
  • Good for you! Hurray!
You may want to google the C25K program. It teaches you to gradually increase your running time to run a 5k. A terrific program and you can go at your own pace.
    I'm very happy for you.
  • Thanks everyone! I will have to google it! I used to hate working out and now i love it! I can't wait to get ready for a 5k! I hope I find one around Thanksgiving but its starting to get pretty cold here!
