I'm on board, BigDog. The summer is finally settling down and I am focused and on plan! Goal is 10 lb loss this month.

ebobbitt 08-04-2014 11:03 AM

Me too!

I'm on board too. I've been doing the program for 8 weeks and have lost 26.5 pounds. Although I was guaranteed 70 pounds in 24 weeks, I'd really like to lose 85 in the 24 weeks. I would have to average 3.5 pounds a week to pull that off. Right now my average is 3.32 a week.

boysrus 08-05-2014 01:08 PM

I'm in!

I started back on plan on 7/30/14. I feel better already! August will be a great month!

patzi 08-05-2014 04:33 PM

I had maintenance weigh in today and maintained, still 5 pounds under goal.

Congrats on your maintenance weigh in, I go Saturday and so far so good!

So has anyone ever tried the "as seen on TV" product called the "Veggetti"? I have a friend who told me about it for zucchini so I bought one. Tried it last night - A-mazing!

You take your zucchini and twist it through and it comes out in spaghetti shaped strands. I blanched it in boiling water briefly then put it in a baking dish. I topped it with ground turkey cooked with green pepper and seasonings then crushed up some tomatoes to put over and shredded some parmesan and asiago cheese and popped it in the oven til it got hot and bubbly. The whole family loved it! It was very good and just like a spaghetti consistency. Might sound dumb but when you are tired of eating things (veggies) simply sliced this made for a great alternative to change up the shape and texture. I have an alfredo sauce made out of greek yogurt and I think it would be great over the zucchini with some grilled chicken.

That sounds GREAT! I make "lasagna" using zucchini slices instead of noodles, which is delish. But, this is definitely going to be happening soon!

I've not been to weigh-in this week, but I'm hoping to make it in this evening. Unfortunately, it's "that time", so I'm fairly certain I'll show a small gain or stay the same. But, I'm still plugging away. I think I've got 8 weeks left. Ten pounds in 8 weeks seems do-able, even though it sure is tougher to lose at this point in the game. I'm losing Middle School Fat now!!! :carrot::carrot::carrot:

patzi 08-09-2014 10:52 AM

I have made popsicles with HNS clear, but they are not like the store pops.

Anyone tried a recipe that they are satisfied with that they can share. Be nice in this hot weather..

Thanks
Patzi

Had maintenance weigh in today, down .5 lbs Yahoo! Still under maintenance goal!

I love the peach mango powdered drink mix up and poured over crushed ice, Yum!!!

Way to go!
My appointment to talk to the counselor about rejoining is next Friday. The new center is only open Mondays and Fridays and she was booked Monday at the times I could meet. I'm wondering when I weigh in after joining - do I have to sit down and talk w a counselor? How long does that take? When I joined before I was outside sales and the center was open 6 days/week. I like to weigh in early ... They are open 9-6. I was hoping I could pop in during lunch but w my new job- 1 work 8-5 with an hour for lunch but the center is 15 min drive so I really only have 30 min. Ugh!!! What to do? I'm already stressed. Lol!

Bigdog: Just explain you are on your lunch hr and let them know upfront, the girls at my center are awesome, I'm usually in and out within 20 mins depending on how many are in front, I go at 9:00 when they open so I'm usually out in 20 mins. Never been during lunch but I'm sure they will work with you. Yes everytime you go to weigh in you have to sit down with them.

good luck

I always weighed in before work at 7:30AM or Saturday morning if my work scheduled changed.. Tell them your time is limited, and you work .. My friend goes in after work, as there are days they are there till 7:00PM. They do work around working people,as 5 of us started at the same time, all work, so I am sure that is not a problem. With your work schedule, probably Saturday or after work would work for you. Also tell them your visit there is limited due to work.. However, first visit I would try to make the time to sit and let them go thru eveything with you, so you do the diet correctly and have a list of any questions you may have.. It is a fantastic program.

I weighed in on Friday and was up .5 pounds. But, I was down 12 inches in the past 2 months (only about 3-5 pounds, but 12 inches!!!). Mom signed the 40 pound board.
I went shopping this weekend and snagged 2 dresses (size medium and a size 10). I even tried on a size small top and it fit beautifully, though I'm more comfortable in mediums. My "donate" pile of clothes is huge!
Onward and downward, friends :)

AshleyRae: Up .5 that's nothing and down 12" that's awesome! I lost 13" total during my ten wk plan! congrats to your mom on 40 lbs!!
Even tho I'm in maintenance I'm shooting for 160 lbs now!

bigdog 08-12-2014 07:08 PM

Way to go Ashley and mom, Skelley and Patzi!
I love seeing your successes and wish more people would share - I think this site has a lot of viewers but not as many participants as it used to.
It always helps me to know what others go through and suggestions and motivational tips are what keeps me going.
The hours of the new center in town is 9-6 and only open Mon and Fridays.
There's another location 45 min away that's open more days and maybe on Saturday so if my work schedule is crazy - I could prob make it there every once in awhile. I'll most likely go during lunch on Fridays.
My DH bought ice cream home last night and I told him I'm starting my diet Friday and seeing a counselor. And told him if he bought home desserts, that they wanted to meet w him too. LOL!!
Not really his fault... Poor thing is confused. One week I'm on a diet, then I'm not! And he doesn't have weight problem so ok for him to eat it. I'll just have a yummy choc truffle PB2 shake :)
I'm trying the Great Lakes Collagen powder mixed in bottled water w a sprinkle of Crystal Light fruit punch and it really is like a HNS but much tastier :)
Dissolves perfectly in water. Not hurting my stomach.
I think before I was drinking on an empty stomach so thanks for the recommendation. :)
Will I get the new diet Day 1 or will I start w a precondition diet like I did before?

patzi 08-13-2014 09:58 AM

I agree Big Dog, in the past years, this group was a lot more active.. Even though I am on maintenance, I need motivation to stay there and enjoy
listening to everyone.. We use to share recipes when I first started and I really enjoyed that, as I never used the supplements for cooking when I was losing weight.

Even though hubby brings in food, you will reach a frame of mind, that it is ok for him to eat it and not you, as you have the weight problem not him. My husband is thin and can eat anything and I had to adjust to him eating things he liked. He eats very healthy, so it was not that bad. I made him healthy desserts that he was use to eating, and I did not eat them. Not easy for sure, but I wanted to lose this time with no cheating and thank goodness I made it.
And remember when you do lose the weight, you can have anything you want in moderation as long as it is not a trigger and puts weight on. If it does, then you will be in a good place to know how to take it off..

I had maintenance weigh in and maintained.. Still 5 pounds under goal.

Wishing everyone a good weight loss or maintain week.

Patzi

skelley331 08-13-2014 03:40 PM

Bigdog you will do fine, as to whether or not they do pre-conditioning anymore I'm not sure. The new More menu is really nice you will like it.

Patzi congrats on your weigh in, I go this Saturday!

I agree this forum seems to lighten up then slow down. I don't post as often but I still get on here and read and post when I can.

Goodluck to everyone

Repeating

I successfully lost 45 pounds in 2010, and it's found its way back. So here I go again, this time on my own. Been at it about 6 weeks, but things are going much slower this time, and I'm lacking motivation. Don't know why, because watching the pounds just melt away last time was motivation enough. Gotta do this!

bigdog 08-18-2014 01:35 AM

CMB - I did the same thing and when I lost the 35 lbs last time I swore I wouldn't gain it back and here I am again!!
I changed jobs so didn't have a center near me to go to so figured I could do it on my own. I did for awhile, then like you said life got in the way- caring for elderly in laws and my dad, changing careers, Yay! husband buying a restaurant Yay! - now 35 lbs back on and is it just me or are they making clothes smaller now? :). Going through menopause :dizzy: but I can't blame my weight gain on that- it's overloading on carbs and comfort foods, exercising less (work 8-5) and love margaritas and lots of boating and camping trips. Which is motivation in itself as it's easier to climb up a boat ladder, walk and play w the dogs, do camping stuff when I'm lighter and more fit.
My meeting was scheduled last Friday to rejoin and I had to reschedule till tomorrow pm because of work schedule
Hope my consultation goes well!! And hope they still have the $99 special for 12 weeks :)
Good luck everyone on their weight loss!!

cmb9697 08-18-2014 10:20 AM

Thanks Patzi and Big Dog!

bigdog 08-18-2014 09:42 PM

Ok, officially joined today!!
Got the Metabolic More Pre- Conditioning Menu and will do that for 7 days. I did get the special rejoin special 12 weeks for $99 which will take me through Nov.
Weighed in 8 lbs more than I did last month so glad I finally joined. Summer is the hardest for me with all the festivitals and beer trucks! And eating out all the time.
I like the counselor- she told me about the big 3 and how I needed them to succeed and I told her I did this plan before, love it and did not take any of them and did very well. Told her I would not sign up if I had to do them. Told her I still had the $80 bottle of Phenatrim that I couldn't take. She said only the HNSs were required. So last time I joined I spent $400 which included a hormone test and the bottle of Phenatrim for 17 weeks so I'm happy with the $99. She said the boxes of HNSs were 5 for $55 or 10 for $100. Sorry for all the boring details!!! She gave me some great suggestions for meals and said Light n Lively Greek yogurt was better than plain and high in protein. I told her I love food suggestions because that will keep me on program and not feel deprived.
Is there anyone that has just joined or rejoined?
Next weigh in is Friday so here I go!!!

Hoosmrc 08-19-2014 07:50 AM

I have been avoiding my scale lately. It has been over a year since I have been to MRC. Lost 50 pounds the first time and felt great. I never completed stabilization. Now I have a postcard for the new menu/$99 re-enroll and it is tempting. I still have boxes of protein. Is the menu that different?

Bigdog is the metabolic more pre-conditioning different than the original pre-conditioning menu?

Thanks

patzi 08-19-2014 04:49 PM

I had maintenance weigh in this morning and I maintained, and even lost 1/2 pound, so am 5 1/2 pounds under goal. Really watching the carbs, as I have a wedding next month and have a dress can't gain any weight or it will be tight.
I never thought I would ever see the day that I could again get into a tight fitting dress. It feels real good.

Hope everyone has a great weight loss weight.

Patzi

bigdog 08-19-2014 10:00 PM

First of all, it's a lot easier to read and follow :). I'll have to pull my old info and compare. It has the list of proteins, starch, veg., fruits, healthy fats, salad dressing, seasonings, beverages listed and you choose one item from each group. Counselor told me to substitute a yogurt for the starch in the am, lunch - eliminate the starch, dinner - forget the fruit and starch and eat 2 veggies instead. I didn't want to question her judgement but was wondering why all the changes? Would love some feedback on what others are being told in the precondition stages
Maybe she knows this combo works better?

I don't recall the preconditioning, but am interested to see what others have to say...How long is preconditioning ? Carbs work havoc on me, and I did not have any when I started Meta Slim.. I substituted yogurt and it worked, but you are saying this is for preconditioning.

Also you mentioned on another list that emetabolic.com has recipes and menus. Did you have to sign in as an account to get that, as I don't see any recipes, but did not sign in.

Thanks for sharing this information, as when I gain weight, I go back to the basic menu for weight loss till I get it off.

Thanks
Patzi

bigdog 08-20-2014 06:04 PM

Patzi
She gave me the precondition menu and when I go back Friday- I think I'll get the real menu and buy the HNSs at that time. It's unlimited veggies for snacks (their list) and ate a whole cucumber today for pre lunch snack sliced! I was full! Lol! That does make sense eliminating the starches esp in the beginning. Fruits have some carbs anyway.
I'm going to buy some HNSs clear and a box of creamy (for my nightly dessert)
Since the join fee was low, I budgeted for at least 1 month of drinks.
I know I lose more when I have 4 a day. What is their minimum requirement per day?
CMB! So glad u joined. Did u already get the real menu?

When I was losing weight, I had three HNS clear during the day and their hot chocolate for a creamy at night... Now on maintenance, I may have one a day, but when I am away I have more. I still like the hot chocolate at night. I buy mine from Diet Direct, as they have the Irish Creme , Amaretta , cinnamon and some real nice yummy flavors. On my new Metabolic More, it says 4 HNS , for maximum results. If I have a clear now, I mix it in the LaCroix coconut flavored sparkling water. It is so delicious and takes a craving away fast. Lacroix has many flavors, but mine is the coconut.

Pinterest has some MRC recipes.. I noticed some are not, but the ones that are on program are really good.

Patzi

bigdog 08-20-2014 08:00 PM

Patzi
I will def. do 4 HNSs a day but you know me - I'm cheap! ;)
I just want to buy the bare minimum from them to keep in good graces w them. Say for example I'll do one or two of theirs a day and supplement with my own. Diet Direct and Vitacost have a much better variety and was the key to my success last time. I used to eat this sugar free turtle caramel bar from diet direct that was 35 cal!
If u have the menu the link to the Pinterest and MRC recipes link is on there. If u don't see it - let me know and I'll post it.
I just mixed cottage cheese with my light lemon Greek yogurt and it is soooooo good!

Carla...

Do you like the new menu better than the old?

Patzi

patzi 08-21-2014 12:58 PM

This recipe I received from a friend of mine while I was losing weight and she was on South Beach Diet at the time.. I made these and they are great if you are in a hurry getting out the door for work. I use to have to fly lots, and I would heat up two of them, and eat them while I drove to airport along with my clear HNS..

Please change any of the ingredients listed to your new menu so you stay on program I would substiture the oniions , as they are not allowed on new menu . My favorite combo was tomato and zucchin or tomato and broccoli . Now I use fat free feta for the cheese, but don't see that mentioned on new menu.

Vegetable Quiche Cups To Go
Serves 6

Ingredients
1 package (10 ounces) frozen chopped spinach
3⁄4 cup liquid egg substitute
3⁄4 cup shredded reduced-fat cheese
1⁄4 cup diced green bell peppers
1⁄4 cup diced onions
3 drops hot-pepper sauce (optional)

Instructions
Microwave the spinach for 2 1/2 minutes on high. Drain the excess liquid.
Line a 12-cup muffin pan with foil baking cups. Spray the cups with cooking spray.

Combine the egg substitute, cheese, peppers, onions, and spinach in a bowl. Mix well. Divide evenly among the muffin cups. Bake at 350°F for 20 minutes, until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.

Quiche cups can be frozen and reheated in the microwave. Any combination of appropriate vegetables and reduced-fat cheeses may be used.

Patzi,

It's not all that different. It does have additional things, and it does simplify the proteins (got rid of the two groups), and I like how you can have fruit as a carb now.

Other than that, I see it as a worth while purchase, even if I don't add any of the new items to my repertoire. But at least I have all the tools available to me.
