eb, it is hard time of year to start, but think how much damage you might do if you werent on plan during this time! I just got back from the grocery and here it is only Dec. 3 with temptations jumping out on every aisle. It actually made me kind of mad! No wonder many people gain so much this time of year. So even if you arent perfect over the next month, you will surely be better off than if you had waited till January 1. We all will be :)

metabalance

I just got back from my weigh-in. down 1 teeny but hard-earned pound. I asked about metabalance and picked up the plan. YOGURT!!!! I stopped at Trader joes on the way home and got some. their Greek non-fat is the best: highest protein i have found. In fact, I compared it to cottage cheese and thought - hey, i could have been eating this all along. It was practically identical. Anyway, I didnt fully decide to switch over, but definitely considering it. there have only been 2 times when I have lost more than 2# per week anyway. For me, I think this may be better. I would not have known about this option if not for this board. Once again, yay, you guys!

Well, we all know that everyone is different :) While one plan may work for one person, it may not work for another, so we need to keep this in mind. When I started Meta-slim, I had times of getting hungry, also. When she told me about Metabalance, I got real excited also....but I stopped losing weight on it. It worked more like a "maintanence" for me I think...

Anyway, it did not work for me. Instead, we came up with a game plan on Meta-Slim that would work for my late morning/late afternoon issues with feeling hungry. This has worked (for me) and I am losing weight....I try having a hard-boiled egg at those times, or a cheese stick, or do my creamy HNS at that time. Also, they have "Jello" and it can feel like you are eating something. There are options to try if you find that a particular menu isn't working for you.

I agree, we don't want to be hungry because that will lead to poor choices:(

I found these "Curb Bites" online that aren't real cheap, but have 24 chocolate covered carmels that are totally sugar free, 30 calories, and 400mg of Hoodia in them that are suppose to help with the hunger. Pretty sure these aren't on plan, but I will have those as a treat...(1 per day) and I think they work with curbing my hunger at times and fill that chocolate craving also. Many of MRC supplements contain "Hoodia" also, so probably an ok option....and low calorie...and did I mention delicious?!? :)

Hang in there, ladies :) Have a great weekend...and remember that once we are in maintenance it will be different, but we are all trying to lose weight right now which is a challenge...but a temporary one. If you come across a menu that seems too good to work...it might just be...for your body anyway I am losing weight eating the way I never did before....that is why it is working.

Congrats on the 1 lb loss! woo hoo! i'm going tomorrow to get Greek yogurt - it's very high in protein. my sister has lost 36 lbs w/ WW new plan and that is her staple in her diet with the unlimited fruit. i'm looking forward to the additional fruit and yogurt which i have been missing badly! if i don't see a weight loss, then i'll go back to metaslim. but hey, i'll jump on that exercise bike more to have the yogurt!! :-) and more strawberries, blueberries and grapefruit. yum!i didn't gain this weight from having skim milk, fruit or yogurt...it was the carbs, pizza, buffalo wings, unlimited crackers, cheetoes.... :dancer:

camaswa 12-03-2011 06:37 PM

Tami, those sound like good ideas (the egg or string cheese). I had also thought about just moving 1 ounce of protein from breakfast and lunch to those in-between times, with something like celery or even an HNS. the pure plan says not to move anything around, so i was trying not to, but I do need to try something to even out my energy and blood sugar. You have done really well - an amazing loss: 45 pounds since August?! Wow.

bigdog 12-03-2011 07:02 PM

Tamiki,
when you mention jello, is that MRC's jello or the sugar free FF jello? i've asked my counselor if i could have some of my protein for a snack in between meals and was told no, that this diet works by combination only and no eating in between. i also asked about SF FF jello and was told no, it wasn't on the plan. i should have asked you guys! way more helpful than my center...and you are successful w/ your weight loss, so it works!

i was also told yesterday by the center that since i don't buy HNSs from them that there is no guarantee of weight loss and my contract is pretty much invalid. no big deal because i saved tons of money ordering from Diet Direct and used my own protein powders and lost weight so all good! just a word of warning, don't tell them you are buying the stuff from somewhere else. i guess they keep track of what you order in your folder, because she looked at the folder and told me she knew i haven't bought anything from them but the Phenatrim (that i didn't use-can't take it) and got suckered into the saliva test. oh well, it is worth it to get the diet plan that works!

faerychic 12-03-2011 07:50 PM

bigdog - they do keep track of the HSN's & supplements you purchase! I realized that at my weigh in today when the consultant listed off the items I had recently purchased.

So, 1 week on metabalance and I have lost 2.5 pounds. If I can continue with that for a weekly loss I will be a happy loser:p

what did u do with the phenatrim?
They keep telling me wait until I hit my goal then I can read someog the things I have been without. But Have done good so far and hope to continue.

way to go!!! i'm really excited to start!! i'm so glad i butted into you and Camaswa's conversation LOL! the greek yogurt will replace the bars i keep sneaking into! and i love fruit. now i can have my 1/2 grapefruit as mid morning snack or mix the strawberries or other frozen fruit w/ the HNS. i have a GE single serve blender so i put the berries, powder and water and blend.
yeah, re: the center, they aren't very happy w/ me because i don't buy anything from them. (they didn't tell me i had to buy them in the beginning and when i attended the food nutrition class a week later, i thought they were going to talk about the food we could eat. the whole class was all about the pills and the selection of HNSs...she described every single one! no discussion about real food. gave everyone an order form and people checked the boxes and she collected credit cards and rang everything up. OMG, i was shocked.) so when i would go in the center, i leave my pocketbook in the car and just weigh in trying to avoid the sales pitch. anyway, it is a great diet and i'm happy w/ it. :-)

i still have it...maybe i'll try taking it on the weekend or something but can't take it when i'm working...makes me too nervous.. gosh, every time i go in they try to sell me pills. just this past week, i lost .5 lb (was on vacation) and she said i should buy the fat and carb blocker. i've lost 26 inches but she keeps pushing cortitrim - every single time, they suggest pills. never exercise, food suggestions...sorry, don't mean to be negative! it would be the absolute perfect plan if the sales people didn't make commission on the products they sell then i would feel like they really cared about me...
but i have learned alot so i tune out the stuff i don't like...

I was told by my center (after I asked because of afternoon hunger) that I could have sugar-free Jello cups, but had to limit to 1 per day (preferably only a couple of times a week, rather than every day.

Hello all. I made it through my two Christmas parties in less than 24 hours...not a single bite of cookies, goodies, bread, potatoes...I did soooo good. It really doesn't matter what the scale says tomorrow, I stayed OP and in the long haul it will help!

I'm doing metaslim & since its working I'm sticking with it (oh, I would loooove some greek yogurt or fruit,,,but I should be to maintenance by spring, I can wait). I do sometimes get hungry between meals, so in the morning between meals I usually have a creamy and in the afternoon I have a clear HNS mixed with diet rite or the walmart flavored sparking water (if I know I won't have time in the afternoon, I do it for lunch).

Hi
I was on Meta Slim before going on maintenance.. You be proud of yourself for stayng on program for two parties in less than 24 hours.. You did so well, I am happy for you.. I will be going to two parties within two days this coming weekend and plan on not gaining any weight.

You said it does MATTER. That is the key.. You are on target and focused and for that you deserve an applause..

Patzi

camaswa 12-04-2011 10:19 AM

Argree with Patzi! Getting through those parties OP is a huge accomplishment. What the scale may or may not reflect right away is not the point here. Because you know in the long run it will reflect your determination and good choices you made.

I try and try not to let the scale rule me. It's so easy for that to become our reward - or our punishment - because I have thought it as punishment for being "bad" I would avoid it and go into denial. I am impressed by how Patzi uses it as information to help her learn which foods and behaviors result in gains.

that's fantastic Gina! i went to a Christmas party friday night and they had white chili (chicken, northern beans) so had that w/ lots of chopped up green onions. would have been nice of them to have a veggie tray available for me to munch on (haha!) had one small homemade chocolate (very unusual for me - im a chocoholic for real!)
i've been doing this plan since August so ready for a change and a little more variety. but if i stop losing, i'll definitely go back to Metaslim. my friend lost 25 lbs on Metabalance and reached her goal weight, actually is 5 lbs under her goal and has stuck w/ it and kept it off. she travels alot for her job so even more challenging to stick w/ this plan but she has succeeded. i'm going to check w the center also re: the Greek yogurt...it's the same nutritional value as cottage cheese and some brands have an even higher protein count so that's good. Thanks for sharing! it's funny but i'll be at an event and will think about what you guys are posting - that you stayed on plan and i'll be like, i can do this!!! i can have that dessert later after i've reached my goal...if i still want it.
