BigDog, you sound like a thin person too!
There's a Polar Plunge where I am too but I'm NOT going in! This is Oregon as the air temp will be in the 40s. Lord knows what the water temp is. I have never been in over my ankles even in summer. I did walk on the beach for an hour till a storm blew in, then I walked down to the shops in the little town and back. Burned a few calories... |

Happy New Year!! |
Camaswa...and ladies...tried to make the "pudding" with the cottage cheese. Tried two different flavors and two different amounts. At four oz of cottage cheese the strawberry mousse after setting for about an hour maybe two was pudding consistency. But was such a strong flavor you got half down easily and the rest was kind of like choking it down. The 8 oz of cottage cheese with chocolate truffle was very watery pudding...still had some firmness to it, but was watery. The flavoring was toned down but you still got half way through it and had to choke the rest down. My only thought it that maybe its the cottage cheese interacting with the protein powder to give it this wang that is really just horrible. I don't know why it's doing this because I looooovvvvveeee blended cottage cheese and ranch mix. A whole container of cottage cheese and half a packet of hidden valley buttermilk ranch....YUMMY!!!! It's a little thicker than I like my ranch to be, but it's ranch! And it's healthy for you. Anyways, just thought I'd share with you guys. If anyone has any other tips for making the chocolate truffle into a pudding or shake with water let me know the amounts. Or I can just keep playing. That container is huge and has like 100+ servings. Night ladies and healthy dreams!!!

Cassie-have you tried the spicy ranch in the cottage cheese and blend? I love it as a dip for raw veggies!
My goal (guided by my consultant) was to hit 165 by the New Year. This morning I woke up at 166.2...so I went for a run (I can usually lose .5-1 lb if I exercise first thing in the morning) and that did the trick. I saw 165.8. I'm in that week of the month where I generally stand still due to hormones, so if I can stay in the 165-166 range in the next week until it all passes, I'll feel great. Oh, and my parents gave me the MRC variety pack of replacement bars. i had only had the cinnamon cereal ones previously (I'm generally really hungry if I just do a replacement bar). I had a peanut butter one this morning since i ate later and don't have long til lunch...it was soooooo good. It may become a good Saturday post-run snack. |
Question for you all - what are the replacement bars sweetened with? I'm so sensitive to artificial sweeteners. I have found that I actually don't mind stevia, but if something's sweetened with aspartame or splenda or whatever, I can't eat it.
bigdog and camswa, I think you should bikini up and plunge away! What the heck! Of course there's one near me tomorrow and there's no flippin' way I'll be plunging (and it's fairly warm for Colorado!) Happy new year everyone! Chickadee |

Cassie, thanks for the report and the attempts! I bet Bigdog is right that no carbs makes a difference. The MRC cookbook has a recipe for blending cottage cheese with Vanilla Cream to make a spread that I have put on toast with nutmeg, I forgot to mention that before.
Gina, fantastic on the 165! You are rockin' it! I just got back from 5 miles on the beach. Cold but no wind, which makes it feel warmer. Still, I think I will be an observer at the Plunge! They will have a big bonfire going and spiked hot chocolate. I could take my chocolate truffle HNS. After all my angst about the scales, I am a little anxious being over here for 5 days without them. I remember Bigdog taking them camping one time! It does help Keep me focused. I'm "mostly" on plan and walking tons. Did some light weights yesterday too. Fish tacos tonight..no chips. But I will have champagne... Happy New Year, all. |
Spicy Hot Pork Rinds! hey, why can't we have pork rinds? 8 G. Protein and no carbs! no trans fat either... kidding, i know they're prob. bad for you but i would think they would be better than chips or high carb stuff. Newbies, just ignore me!!!
my DH is eating them and i'm laughing at the slogan on the bag..."Put a little South in your Mouth!" LOL! i'm so ready for some champagne! Camaswa, your NY holiday on the coast sounds fabulous!!! i'm actually buying some new WW scales for the house so i can keep the other ones in the camper all the time. didn't have them on last holiday and missed them. the daily weigh in kept me on track on my vacation last Sept. if i saw a gain, i'd immediately start drinking more water and even did a day or two of mediquick. ended up losing at end of week and still had a wonderful time! that's when i discovered the Lemonade HNS mixed very well w/ tequila :-) for my "margaritas" Happy New Year!:hat::hat: |
