  • Quote: Patzi- it was odd. I told the counselor I was taking hormones prescribed by my gyne and she said, "Good. Now we can see if they work or not." I said, "I know they're helping-I don't have one continuous 20 day period anymore." And she said, "This test will help monitor your pills." I said nothing but thought there is no way I'm going to alter what my MD and I have agreed on.

Also, I told her I exercised everyday because I have partial paralysis in my left leg (foot drop) from a back injury and my left lower leg muscles will atrophy if I don't. She said, "We might have to cut that back to 4 hours a week because it will slow down your weight loss." I replied that I couldn't cut that back because is what improves my mobility and strength and I need to get back to my nursing job. She said, "I'll let you try it but if it slows you down we'll have to cut it back."

I am a little dumbfounded that someone would consider a quicker weight loss more important than rebuilding my ability to walk and strengthen a weak leg. But I know most people don't understand nervous system injuries or neuropathy.

I WILL exercise daily because it is important to my recovery and mental well-being. I spent three months using a walker last year and will not backslide and lose the muscle I've gained.
    Little Edie..
I am a nurse and know what is what when the consultants talk, but they are not medical people, and I have said that to them. If my doctor tells me something, or if I believe in something, it is not up to the conultants to comment as they have no medical background at all. Remember, do what you want to do, and you will be fine.. Test by MRC monitoring medication given to you by your doctor, is nonsense.Your doctor will monitor you. Now, that is my opinion, but I opted out of all tests and all the other stuff, except for a few . And I am trying to wean down on the supplements now that I am on maintenance, and that is not going over at all at center, so trying to ignore it. Shame they pressure us, as the program is the best around, and it does work, so we have to try and be strong and ignore them, if that is what we believe. It is a personal thing.

  • Just got back from my weigh in for week one of stabilization. Well I just started the menu Monday but I lost 1.6 this week. I am glad to finally be out of my slump!
  • Brandi - Congrats on your loss! And, yes, you can do this!!!

Little Edie - I'm so sorry your consultation was such a bummer. Reading that hormone testing was mandatory was a shocker to me. Definitely not the way they do it at my center. I hope it gets better for you!

Sailors Girl - Congrats on being in the 170s. Isn't it fun watching the scale go down? Keep it up and you'll be in the 150's in no time!

Goneforgood - Woohoo for lower goals! LOL It's funny, it seems like it will take forever to get to our original goals, and now that we're almost there, it's like, what's a few more weeks after all of this? I think I'll be in a state of disbelief when I get to stabilization.

learning2Bhealthy -Good luck with re-enrollment. I wonder what would happen if you decided to walk out the door without joining because of the test. Would they all of the sudden make a concession and tell you that it wasn't mandatory? Makes you wonder.

Junie04 - Congratulations on losing during stabilization! Keep us up to date on how it's going for you.

It just occured to me that Tuesday was my 6 month anniversary being OP with MRC. In those 6 months, I'm down 41.5 pounds (61.5 pounds since having my daughter) and 50.75 inches! I'm feeling so much better, don't get winded walking through the mall, and can chase after my munchkin. I've went from a size 18 when I gave birth to a size 10 and honestly, those jeans are getting pretty baggy. My blood pressure medicine has went from 11 pills a day after giving birth (I had severe pre-eclampsia) to 3 pills. The doctor may be taking me off more shortly. My eating habits are now becoming a lifestyle change as opposed to a temporary change for a "diet." I'm still trying to learn to love water, but I notice when I don't drink enough, I feel like crap.

If you're a newbie and can't see the light at the end of the tunnel, look to our ladies who have made it through and are doing great. Patzi, Junie, Teacherlady, and Hatesthesweatpants have been an inspiration for me and watching them succeed pushed me to stick with it because I knew I would be so much happier for it!
  • Hi ladies....

Well, after reading over some of the posts, I am happy that I don't feel "pressured" every time I go into the center! I am only asked if I am out of anything....

I did do the "Saliva Test" recently...my own choice after taking the "Body In Balance Class." I got my results yesterday. I think it was worth it. I already knew that things were a bit off...LOL but my progesterone is very off, which needs attention. Until your hormones are in balance, your body struggles more with weightloss, apparently.

I was put on "Total Woman" supp, which is good for me anyway, and the Progesterone cream. All I can do is try this stuff...if I am not impressed with it, I will stop.

I am really liking this "Meta Balance" menu. I am never hungry anymore. I think the snacking option is what I needed IF I don't continue to lose weight on it, we will have to adjust things...so I am praying it will work! I really didn't like the "Meta Slim." This is only my first week on it...so will keep you all posted!

I was down 2 lbs this past week after my WI yesterday!! My counselor wants me to "treat" myself out to lunch or something when I have a loss. Since I travel out of town to come to my appts, I have to eat out anyway, so she told me to take a "Fat/Carb Blocker" and have a little fun for one meal That certainly motivates me to get the scale down!! LOl

Have a great day all! "Once day at a Time!!"

  • WOW Jen! What an inspiration you are!!! Your example proves to me that this journey will have a great outcome. Just put your mind to it, and it can be done...even on vacation!!!

I leave for a trip (A week) with my husband the beginning of September. He is on business, and for me...total pleasure!! LOL I am a tad nervous about the food situation. I can bring my supplements, etc..but my personal will power when i am on the go isn't great. Any suggestions?

    Tami
  • Tamikl congrats on the 2lbs. Keep up the good work.

Jen B you should be really proud of yourself. You have come a long way. The women are definitely motivating me to not give up. I keep questioning if the vegetarian program will work but I will give it more time.
  • The scale was very kind to me at WI today-- 5 lbs. down since Monday! I had jumped up 2 lbs. with no explanation, cheated Sunday night because I was so frustrated with the gain when I had been doing everything right, so I was 3 up last WI. The best thing about this WI, though, is that I'm FINALLY a pound under where I was three weeks ago when I went on vacation. Who knew that a weekend trip would set me back three weeks? Granted, I've cheated some in the interim, but I really think 90% of that can be attributed to the carb cravings that going off plan started to trigger. It has really taught me a lesson-- no more cheating for an extended period of time like that. If it does ever happen (which I don't foresee), then I'm going to go back on preconditioning because I just didn't have much luck trying to jump straight back into plan.

Anyway, at least it's over, and from here on out I'll be gaining fresh ground.

I had to sit with my least favorite counselor for the second time in a row today. I get along with most of them just fine, but she really rubs me the wrong way. When I gained 2 last time, she gave me a guilt trip, even though I had been perfectly on plan. This time, she was happy with my WL, of course, but she then says, stuff like "let's make the goal for next WI 2.5." As if I really have control over that-- all I can do is stay OP, and that is far too high of a goal to tell someone they should have. She's also the biggest salesperson there, too, which also bugs me. Okay, rant over. Hopefully I'll get someone different next time. And that's okay-- because I lost 5 lbs.!!!
  • Tamikl-
Best thing I did to keep myself in check while on vacation was to take my scale with me and weigh in every day!
  • tkdtara84, great weight loss, and if you are happy with yourself, then that is all that counts.. I have to say if your journal and not cheat and stay OP, it will all work out.

valarieg...What program are you on, and may I ask why do you feel like giving up? Hopefully you won't do that, there has to be a solution . We can all help you.

Tamikl.. If you like the Meta Balance and have a problem and don't like Meta Slim, have your consultant change things around for you.. They changed things for me throughout my weight loss.. Make sure you journal, so you can
have them see everything you put in your mouth, but if you do not have any problems, you are on your way ..Glad you weight loss was good for you and you seem very motivated and that is a good thing.

I have been experimenting on nuts on maintenance, and that is such a big trigger for me, so we shall see what the scale says tomorrow.. I had 1/8 cup of mixed nuts, no salt added... If I gain, no more nuts. LOL.

    Everyone have a great night.

Thank you for the tip!!! I can't imagine packing a scale in my suitcase...but I will figure out how to do periodic WI while I am away.

Thank you, Patzi. My coach did tell me that we could "tweek" menu's to fit individual needs. I consistently see the same coach each week and LOVE that. I would hate to just get stuck with different ones all of the time. I have sort of bonded with her, and truly believe she is vital to my success at the moment~We even do email check ins! She has been a blessing for sure
  • WI today ... 2 more lbs. down but .5 away from signing the 10lb board. I hate that damn .5 lol I did get my first measurement for a ribbon and I lost 19.5 inches!!
  • Wow - some great results on the WIs.

tkdtara84 - I can understand not "clicking" with a coach. There is one at my center too. I just hate it when I get stuck with her. My WI was yesterday and I'm over due for my measurements. I was going to ask for them until I got her. Plus she wrote down the same numbers from last week for my blood pressure without even taking it. And yes, she tries to push all the goods on me too. I will simply ask to see the next available except her next time. I will not pay this kind of money and get treated like that... That said - I'm glad you had a breakthrough. Congrats!

And Congrats to all the other losers. Hang in there those that might be having a hard time. My center always tells me that nothing tastes as good as being skinny feels. Sometimes that helps me overcome a craving...
  • JenB72- WOW!!! That's great. I can remember how great it feels to be in your shoes. I can't wait to be where you are. It's people like you that helps keep us going. Keep up the great work.

tkdtara84- OMG, 5 lbs? Wonderful, I bet you were on cloud 9 for the rest of the day. Last time on MRC I wouldn't weigh until I went to the center and it felt so great to get a loss like that. I LOVE surprises. It's times like that, that keeps us going. Way to go and keep up the hard work.

I think I'm going to ask the consultant tomorrow if there's anyway that I can keep just her as my counselor. I like her a lot. Last time they got so many new ones who were giving us wrong information or just plain didn't know the answers to question and would just guess. Or they were beauties fresh out of high school who's doesn't know what it's like to be big time over weight and you know that no matter what, your body could never look like theirs but they try and tell you that they've lost weight on the program and has had weight issues. I just don't feel comfortable with young women like that. I want one that I know has been down my road and can relate, one that you can laugh with, get to know and be friends with. I want an imperfect counselor, Dang it. LOL!!!
